Just said on SportsCenter. This is terrible. The guy doesn't deserve to be in the league. I love Goodell but this move sucks.

Whether the defensive problems we have are coaching problems or player problems? The true answer is, we all know it's both. We could not possibly be this bad and that far removed from what we were as a defense to what we see on the field now. Only a moron (Lovie Smith) could defend the scheme we are seeing. My guess is, Babich is trying to tweak the base 4-3 but doesn't have the knowledge and my fear is, Lovie Smith does not possess it either. It's no secret that Rivera tweaked this scheme when he was here. HE learned from the best in the business, Johnson in Philly. He took what we had, the scheme and then each week, tweaked it for whoever we were playing to maximize the…

BEARS PLACE VASHER ON IR Posted by Mike Florio on November 29, 2008, 1:19 p.m. If the Chicago Bears are going to return to the postseason in 2008, they’ll have to make it happen without starting cornerback Nathan Vasher. On Saturday, the Bears placed Vasher on injured reserve. The team announced the move via e-mail several minutes ago. Vasher has a broken hand. Recently, coach Lovie Smith wouldn’t comment on whether the injury would end Vasher’s season. To fill the spot created by the move, the Bears promoted fullback Jason Davis from the practice squad to the active roster.

The epitome of mediocrity 1. 6-6 record, 16th overall ranking on defense, 23rd overall ranking on offense. It doesn't get (much) more tepid than that. What's especially disturbing,however... 2. Is how the Bears appear to be regressing. The defense has been spotty at best all season. now the offense can't get out of its own way. Special teams, a former strength, have disappeared. "Super Bowl" contenders, when they lose tough games early in the season, from my recollection, don't get steadily worse as the season wears on. The Giants didn't "fade out" to close the 2007 season...at least that's not how I recall it. Speaking of fading out... 3. Kyle Orton. Yes, he'…

Noots’ Notes-Game 12: 34-14 Loss at Minnesota By Michael Nudo ______________________________________________________________________________ Up 7-3, the Chicago Bears (6-6) were stone walled in a goal line stand. Moments later Gus Frerotte connected with former Bear Bernard Berrian for a 99-yard touchdown strike. The Bears were never in the game after that huge sequence. The Vikings now hold sole possession of first place in the NFC North. ______________________________________________________________________________ Trailing (AP Photo/Tom Olmscheid). ______________________________________________________________________________ OFFENSE Quar…

Noots’ Notes-Game 14: 27-24 Win over New Orleans in OT By Michael Nudo The Bears (8-6) got out to a 21-7 halftime lead on the strength of Danieal Manning’s 83-yard opening kickoff return for a touchdown. There were few style points in the victory, as they frittered away the lead in the second half, and needed to kick a field goal to tie and eventually win in overtime. Moving forward to stay in the playoff hunt (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert). OFFENSE Quarterback Kyle Orton (24-40-172, 2 INT, 4/6, TD, Fumble) didn’t have a particularly good game, but did just enough when needed to lead the team to the win. One of his interceptions was thrown directly…

So I'm sitting here watching CTL (which is a stupid show as David Kaplan is an a**hole) and of course Kaplan wants the Bears to go out and get a huge named WR, just like he wanted Favre. Well, they brought up Chad Johnson. Originally, Cincy turned down two 1st rounders from the Redskins, and I bet they would do that now in a heartbeat. However, now he might be only worth a 2nd and a 4th. Would you make a trade for Chad Johnson? What would you give up for him, if you previously answered yes?

Bears' receiving corps gets makeover: Rashied Davis out as starter December 23, 2008 Rashied Davis didn't hide his frustration leading into Monday night's game as criticism of his play mounted. Imagine how the Bears' receiver feels now after being benched. Davis, who entered the game with a team-high seven drops, was replaced in the starting lineup by Brandon Lloyd. Davis had started the previous five games and 12 of the team's 14. "It's not easy to be sitting back and watching when you know you're capable enough to be out there playing," Davis said. "I just did my job. I thank God that I was able to go out and have some opportunities to make some plays [on…

I know this is a wet dream, but there has to be at least SOME truths to rumours that he can be available. So knowing he has one year left on his contract, and wants an extension, perhaps Philli will want to move on with Klobb. Question is, what would it take to get him here? First round pick? More/less? What would the Bears give up for him? Personally, if we could get McNabb, I would give up a number one and three. Draft online in round 2 and sign free agent receiver... We have to assume Williams will step in next year at LT so we really just must replace Garza. Of course Saftey also must be addressed but hey...its a pipedream anyway. …

Bears seeking family plan? By Vaughn McClure | Tribune reporter 10:01 PM CST, January 6, 2009 If Joe Barry had his preference, his next family reunion would take place in Chicago. Barry's father-in-law, Rod Marinelli, has an opportunity to join the Bears staff. Barry wouldn't mind tagging along. "If I had an opportunity to work for Lovie Smith, I would cherish it," said Barry, who was fired as Detroit's defensive coordinator when Marinelli was dismissed as the Lions head coach. "I have a relationship with coach Smith. I have a relationship with [general manager] Jerry Angelo. So if that was an opportunity, it would be something I definitely would be…

We'll always love and respect you Walter! BIRK, WARNER, DAWKINS ARE FINALISTS FOR THE WALTER PAYTON AWARD Posted by Mike Florio on January 15, 2009, 4:36 p.m. As we recently learned, the NFL has only a handful of official postseason awards. Three, to be precise. The Super Bowl MVP, the Pro Bowl MVP, and the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year. As to the latter prize, the field is down to three players. Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, Vikings center Matt Birk, and Eagles safety Brian Dawkins. Another thing they have in common is that all three players currently are on track to become free agents in less than two months. The awa…

William Moore, FS/SS, Missouri Height: 6-1. Weight: 227. Projected 40 Time: 4.45. Projected Round (2009): Top 20 Pick. 1/14/09: William Moore finished the season with 86 tackles, 6.5 TFL, six passes broken up and a pick-six. 12/14/08: William Moore compiled 83 tackles, 5.5 TFL and five passes broken up as a senior. An All-Big XII first-teamer, Moore has a shot to land in the top 15. 5/19/08: Looks to be a good fit at either safety position at the next level. William Moore had an incredible 2007 campaign, notching seven picks and qualifying as a second-team All-American. 2007: An interception machine and the leader of Missouri's defense. Voted…
