Gang, Through my connections at work, I have 11 free passes left for the Chicago Slaughter. They have 3 games left - May 22nd, May 28th, and June 12th. Last year we signed Trevathan on the first day and then a few days later we got Massie and Freeman. In this post i am only referring to new players not resigning our own. So on the first day I see us grabbing a up and coming player going into his second contract. I think I have been the most vocal critic of Matt Eberflus on this board? Probably so. And I have some observations to make about the last month or two. My two main criticisms of him have been that he has made stupid strategic game decisions, and that he seemed to lack an alpha leadership quality, at least where I was able to see him on TV, in interviews etc. I can't say much about the first one, since we aren't playing games, but I'm hopeful that any of that gets put in check by more assertive coordinators keeping him from going too safe. I haven't been able to post much since the first game but one of the most obvious differences I noticed with our D against the Bengals was the lack of gang tackling. I give Lovie credit because we always had 11 guys running toward the ball and it paid off routinely. Too often against the Bengals we would have one or two players go for a tackle but additional support was either late getting there or never arrived. We're are finally at the mid-point of the season. I'm curious what you view as our draft needs this offseason. As it stands now we won't pick until late in the 3rd Rd. Everyone knows Sims will be gone and that gives us $26mil in cap space. I expect a big chunk of that to be used to re-sign Callahan. Beyond that we just sign a few of our own players, or someone of similar talent, to fill out the roster such as RRH, Kush, Bellamy, LS Scales, and maybe Witzman. Likely departures Massie, Amos (I don't think they will pay him and Callahan), and the forementioned Sims. What then are the needs? The most obvious gap is RT if we let Massie leave.
