I heard today on the Score that one team has offered a 6th round pick for Olsen. If someones scouits think he is only worth a #6, I dont see anybody offering a #2 for him, except maybe from the Canadian League.

Okay, now that Peppers is our man, I think it worth talking about what side of the DL he should play. Peppers has played both sides. As I understand it, he used to play RDE when Rucker was on the left, and then moved when Rucker left, but moved back to RDE this past year. Not sure, but something like that. I have read before that Peppers is best at RDE. That isn't to say he can't play LDE. Not saying that at all. But everything I have ever read was that his best position was RDE, and even when playing LDE, the team worked to move him back, which they eventually did. Brown has always played RDE. I believe that is what he played in college, and throug…

I read on Profootballtalk.com that odds of Donta Whitner/FS/Buffalo staying on the team on slim. He was a 6th pick in the 2006 draft and havent lived up to expectations for the team. Could he revive his carrer as a Bear? I think it would be a low end risk to obtain him, and give it a shot. Offer them a 6th pick? They will problem just cut him anyways.

Ryan Clark negotiated with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week to see if he could hammer out a longterm extension but that didn’t happen and the free agent is drawing pretty solid interest early in free agency. His agent Joel Turner declined to name the teams involved but said six clubs, including the Steelers, are involved at this point. Obviously, Arizona and Chicago would be on a very short list of teams seeking safeties with Miami and the New York Giants also in the market. Washington, where Clark used to play, could also be looking for a safety. “Everyone is gaga over Antrel Rolle,” Turner said. “Ryan is a better player. He’s got better numbers across the boa…

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,4375726.column Rams safety fills bill for Smith’s greatest desire — takeaways Dan Pompei On the NFL March 7, 2010 E-mail Print Share Text Size Now that the Bears have a player who can force the opposing quarterback into making bad throws, they need a player who can intercept those passes. O.J. Atogwe, meet Lovie Smith. You might remember Atogwe. When he was playing free safety for the Rams last December, he had two forced fumbles against the Bears. And those forced fumbles are part of a large trend. Since Atogwe came into the league as a third-round pick out of Stanford in 2005, he has …

I've seen mention of Taylor getting more carries than Forte, but I just don't see how that can be. Taylor last year with a great OL got the same YPC as Forte got behind the paper mache OL. Actually, this is why I'm not all that impressed with the signing...aside from it being a minimal concern in regards to other needs. On a semi-related note, does everyone think the prevailing theory that every team needs TWO top-line RBs is a load of crap? I believe a 30 carry RB is still feasible, and signing two starter-quality RBs is somewhat wasteful considering the team's performance and record last year which indicated glaring needs for multiple other positions.

So the Bears are the biggest players in free agency, for sure, but they aren't the only ones. The Lions are making some aggressive moves of their own: so far, they've inked Nate Burleson from the Seahawks and Kyle Vanden Bosch from the Titans, plus they traded to get Corey Williams from the Browns. None of those are blockbuster moves like the Peppers signing, but they're all pretty smart, I think. Burleson isn't a great #1 receiver, but as a #2 paired with Calvin Johnson, he's miles better than Bryant Johnson or anybody else on Detroit's roster. I think he could be a credible complementary receiver, which they haven't had in a while. As for KVB and Williams, I …

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-b...o&type=lgns Not a bad article but I am not sure exactly how to go with it. In one hand the writer states the obvious in that Lovie, Angelo and crew are on the last straw and then he writes that he speculates (like many of you expressed concern) that the signing of Peppers may not work out. The one point in particular is how Robinson thinks that Peppers may not be the leader the Bears need but I ask what about Urlacher? I think he is the undisputed leader on Defense. And don't forget that there are players like Briggs, Tinoisamoa, Harris and Tillman still on the roster that really aren't all that shabby. …

    1. Why does everyone assume Olsen won't fit with the Martz offense? We have 3 pretty good "receiving" TE's on the roster. The Martz offense typically calls for 3 WR sets. Doesn't Olsen or Dez Clark become the 3rd WR??? A typical offensive set would be QB, 5 o-linemen, RB, 2 TE's, 2 WR's. Seems like a no-brainer. 2. Manumaleuna is such a unique player, who backs him up? When we drafted Lance Louis we speculated he might become a blocking TE. Is he the guy?

  13. We still need to address our offensive line? Who is out there? Use our 3rd round pick on this? Will they trade Olsen for a higher pick to address the O-line? Why didn't they go after Bolden? Is someone else out there? I'm still not confident with our lack of a go-to recieiver. Knox has the highest cieling of them all, i think once defenses figure Aromashadu out, he won't be as good as people think, and Hester should just go back to returning kicks and punts. As far as the addressing the Defensive Back situation- I would LOVE bringing in Sharper. He wont be that expensive and we saw last year how much game he still has left in him. I'm excited, but we still…

another thread about how the Bears ownership is cheap or too cautious to pull off big deals. Two years in a row we have gone after and signed the top players available. In that span we now have acquired a top tier QB and top tier DE plus today they went after the best RB and TE available who fit Martz's system and got those two deals done before I even sat down to eat lunch. Peppers was signed before I got to the afternoon coffee break. Wow! You can argue over the quality of the players, bad decision etc. but to say they are cheap I just can't see it anymore.

The decision to trade Greg Olsen was a tough one, but the Bears brass knew they would have to part ways when they decided to hire Mike Martz (thus the reasoning it took so long to decide). They recieved the second of New Englands second rounders and with that draft OG Vladimir …

Redskins interested in Rex Grossman Posted by Mike Florio on March 5, 2010 1:06 PM ET It's fitting, we suppose, that a year after the Broncos welcomed with open arms a failed former Bears quarterback, the former Broncos coach would be interested in another one. A league source tells us that the Washington Redskins are interested in Rex Grossman. Grossman, a first-round draft pick in 2003, left the Bears for the Texans in 2009. He won the backup job behind Matt Schaub, who had a Pro Bowl season. The offensive coordinator last year in Houston, Kyle Shanahan, is now the offensive coordinator in Washington. (Thanks, Rosenthal, for pointing out something…

Taylor says he didn't demand to be the starter in Chicago Posted by Mike Florio on March 5, 2010 5:36 PM ET Running back Chester Taylor, who jumped Friday from the Vikings to the Bears, told Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times that the veteran didn't condition his decision on being the starter. "I didn't come here like that," Taylor said. "[Matt Forte's] a great player. I'll come in with the mindset that we're teammates, but we'll compete." Right, but Taylor contract suggests that he's the top man on the totem pole, and that Forte is now the secondary player. Regardless of who's No. 1 or No. 2, Taylor realizes the importance of spreading the load. "…
