Let's say we traded somebody for another 2nd rounder. How unhappy would you be if we took Kentwan Balmer with our 2nd 2nd rounder, DT from North Carolina? He's arguably in the top 3 DT's this year, and we all know JA loves DT's.

Offense: Tom Brady (QB, New England), Adrian Peterson (RB, Minnesota) Defense: Bob Sanders (S, Indianapolis), Jared Allen (DE, Kansas City) Special Teams: Devin Hester (KR/PR, Chicago), Mat McBriar (P, Dallas) Now, if this team was an expansion team, they'd have the first overall pick. With that pick, I'd take Jake Long. Your turn.

The Trib says several times the cuts were part of a youth movement, or trying to get younger. As all the guys released were 30 or over, I guess it is not wrong to say as much. But was that really the reason? I personally think age had very little to do w/ yesterday's cuts. If Miller's 2008 base was the vet minimum instead of $4m+, would he have been cut? I think that if he was due to make the minimum, the team would have talked about how he was injured last year, and give him another season. If Walker was not due that roster bonus, would he have been cut, or would he too have been given another year after an injury riddled season. Moose is different, as w…

From the Sun Times, Brown was due to get $500k base this year, but that just went up to $5m. The report says he also gets another $5m up front, which could be a signing bonus or roster bonus. Unknown at this time. He was also due a $600k (other bonus). He also still had (I think) around $1m due in bonus allocation from his original signing bonus. If it was a SB, then his cap hit jumps up to around $8.5m. If it was a roster bonus, his cap hit jumps to around $11m. Both of these are not counting the $600k "other bonus". This is pretty significant, as Brown was due to hit our cap for around $2m, but will now cost better than 4 or 5 times…

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...e022908.article Not a big deal, as far as I'm concerned. I'd just use a pick in the 6th/7th to get the best remaining blocking TE available. They don't tend to go early.

Link. Although the Bills are reluctant to use cap space since they are actually a small market team, after last year, this is a good signing. Sort of helps replace London fletcher, bolsters a LB corps that was very weak after Pos got injured, and he's only 28.

  11. Started by ostrogoth,

The Redskins are not believed to be interested in free agent LB Lance Briggs, according to the Chicago Sun Times. It looks like Briggs overestimated the market. He hasn't even made a visit yet to our knowledge. If he makes it through the first wave of free agency, Denver, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay could up their efforts to pursue him.

Signed by the Jags for 6 yrs, 30 million with a 10 million signing bonus. Fairly comparable to the Bears offer to Berrian for 5 yrs 25 million with a 8 million signing bonus. I think Minny is going to offer probably 5 yrs 30 million with a 12 million signing bonus and he will sign on the dotted line. Free agent WRs left that interest me: Bryan Johnson (meeting soon - hopefully we sign him) Reche Caldwell Drew Carter DJ Hackett Jabar Gaffney Keary Colbert Marty Booker Robert Ferguson (if we are desperate) Javon Walker (is he a drillrod; can he stay healthy?) I am really hoping we can sign Johnson. I saw that Wilford signed a 13 million de…

OK, let the grilling begin, but here’s my shopping list. Just a pipe dream at 4:25 AM Is this even realistic? I really haven't researched the matter. Alan Faneca 4yr/32 mil Allows us to draft a rookie LT and move Tait to the right. Sign Jacob Bell for 5yr/28 mil if Faneca signs with NYJ. We get younger and better by signing a 31 year old and drafting. Age upgrade to youth is 9yrs per player.(10.5 if you sign Bell) Randy Moss 3yr/30 mil How do you improve your QB play? A+ Sign the most gifted receiver to ever play the game and chuck it. How do you improve your run game? A= Get the safety out of the box by(see above). The combination of Faneca …

NBCSports.com's Tom Curran has confirmed that Randy Moss has agreed to a three-year, $27 million to remain a Patriot. It's uncertain if Moss' efforts to get other teams involved helped, but he's only making $1.33 million-per-year more than Bernard Berrian. His guaranteed money was increased.

Supposedly Sirius Radio said Johnson was close to signing with the Bears? I can't find a site linking this rumor, but I caught it on other message boards. Wouldn't this be a pleasant surprise. Bryant Johnson to Bills, Bucs or Skins? Joel Segal, the agent for free-agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson, said Wednesday night that he is in negotiations with three teams -- not including the Bears -- and anticipates having a deal done by the weekend. Interest in Johnson, a former first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals, had appeared to cool because of a high asking price. The only team he is known to have visited is Buffalo, though Tampa Bay and Washington are reported …

McBride can feel like a 5th-round pick now Trumaine McBride figured all along he would be a fifth-round draft pick. At least he’s been compensated like one. The cornerback was the Bears’ biggest winner in the NFL’s performance-based pay system that rewards players for being on the field. The system adopted in 2002 provides the highest payouts to players who play the most and earn the least. As a seventh-round draft pick, 221st overall, McBride received a signing bonus of $55,250 for his four-year contract with a base salary of $285,000 last season. The payout received in performance-based pay? In excess of $200,000 according to two league sources, meaning McBr…
