Report: Olsen not on the trade block Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 3, 2010 8:33 PM ET After whispers about Greg Olsen's availability turned into a full-blown news report, it was almost inevitable a denial would emerge. This is a strong one. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times writes the team not actively trying to trade Olsen. A league source has confirmed the report to PFT. Jensen writes that Mike Martz is still trying to wrap his mind around his new offensive pieces, and nothing has been decided. Of course, not actively trying to trade Olsen now isn't the same as not listening to offers in April. The impression is out there that some team coul…

Ill try to be as accruate as i can, One top level NFL guy said he would be willing to bet that BM is a Bears by training camp. Also was stated by a different NFL guy that Denver will try everything in their power to not let BM go to the Bears because of fear how good that would make Cutler look, making the Cutler trade look bad upon the Denver front office Coming out of the Pepper camp is that he likes the Bears. Only road block would be Washington getting invloved, cuz they will drive the price up. I wonder if the Bears make a play for Peppers knowing that he could play in a 3-4, just in case the Lovie camp does not turn this around. Nothing men…

Bears | Interested in Marshall? Comment (0) Wed, 03 Mar 2010 09:06:48 -0800 Neil Hayes, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears could still potentially be in the running to acquire Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall in the offseason. Although general manager Jerry Angelo has said the wide receiver position is not a need for the team, one league source said Marshall could still be in a Bears uniform when training camp opens. The addition of Marshall would help QB Jay Cutler thrive in 2010. Bears | Olsen on the trading block? Comment (0) Wed, 03 Mar 2010 07:22:28 -0800 Greg A. http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...s-/Default.aspx Brandon Marshall to the Bears? Mar 3 3/3/2010 10:57:49 AM | More Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times reports rumors persist that Angelo's comments about wide receiver not being a ''need'' position are a smoke screen. It's all about giving quarterback Jay Cutler what he needs to thrive, which is why one NFL source wagered a steak dinner on Marshall being in a Bears uniform when camp opens. ------------------------------------------ http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...ts/Default.aspx Bears could trade Olsen to Cardinals or Patriots Mar 3 3/3/2010 11:15:51 A…

More fun with tampering: Bears met with Peppers' agent Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 2, 2010 11:03 PM ET The Bears have taken an illegal running head start towards free agency, according to the Chicago Tribune. David Kaplan reports that the representative for Julius Peppers, Carl Carey, met with Bears brass during the NFL Scouting Combine. Carey has only one active contract in the NFL, so he's not just chit-chatting. We know: this stuff happens all the time. It happens so much, the word "tampering" isn't even in the Tribune's story. Denials will come swiftly Wednesday, but the league has to have a problem when their rules are flaunted so public…

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/jensen/2078...-sean02.article Per Sean Jensen of the Times, Angelo has been given permission to spend around $25m in "up front" money this offseason. As the report says, that number could climb w/ the release of Pace which saved a bit under $4m, and some other potential moves/ restructures. Also as the report says, that likely will not be enough for Peppers. That number should be more than enough for Kampman, but a key issue is that we have many holes, and if we blow all our money on one player, we would be severly limiting in plugging the other holes. Still, $25+m is a pretty solid amount to have to play with. It likel…

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/jets_a...LPbOr7uPJ4GY3LI Pretty good article about how once again Thomas Jones is getting another raw deal. I would be more than OK if the Bears wanted to bring back Jones to finish out his career. He easily has another decent 3-4 years in him. They guy has only rushed for at least 1,000 yards the last 5 years (to include his last 2 for Chicago). Jones is one of those consummate professionals who I really never understood his being released from Chicago, especially since the Benson experiment never worked out.

http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...or/Default.aspx Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are believed to be interested in running back Chester Taylor and he could come in and compete with Matt Forte for the starting job. "This past year we weren't as pleased as we would like to be with our running back situation," coach Lovie Smith said last week at the scouting combine. "Yeah, we'll look at everyone that is available." Chester Taylor is a valuable commodity as a complement to Peterson, and he will be an unrestricted free agent if he doesn't re-sign with Minnesota before 11:01 p.m. Thursday. I know its risky, but im saying …

Again, I'm really appreciative for the concern of all of you here. Fortunately for me and my family we had little damage to the house--a few broke things-and we are all safe and now have elctricity, gas and water. There still are many here, just around the block as a matter of fact, that do not have electricity yet. My work at the university has been suspended pending an evaluation of the infrastructure and the arrival of electricity there. Santiago is about 200 miles north of the epicenter and mostly very old buildings, many historical sites and the very newer ones--mostly lower income housing--suffered the most damage here. Down south, though, between the earthquak…
