ContactFeedsAdvertisingPrivacy PolicyFinal eight plan reduces Peppers' options by 25 percent Posted by Mike Florio on February 1, 2010 8:36 AM ET During two Radio Row segments in the 7:00 a.m. ET hour with our good friend Todd Wright of Sporting News Radio, Todd and I talked about the status of Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers. With the Panthers now snubbing Peppers and his agent, Peppers likely won't be slapped with the franchise tag again -- and thus he's destined to be an unrestricted free agent as of March 5. So he'll get a $100 million contract, like defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth finagled a year ago, right? Maybe not. Though it only …

I am a fan of the highlight reel. Found one on You tube that is pretty decent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF_Z3IMwevM I know the Lovie detractors will point out the middle segment, which coincidently is where the season soured (in the middle). But I will counter with those same people who claimed that Lovie had "lost the team/locker room" with the segment of video at the end. Especially the section with the second Viking's game. Looks to me like a lot of players really wanting to win and pretty happy when they eventually did. Another positive to take away from this video. Besides all the the good things that occured over the WHOLE season (many I eve…

I really really really like Clements and think he'd be an exceptional hire. The only tough part about trading for our OC (and I'd be okay giving up Moore) is that we don't know if he'll be here for much more than a year so it would be hard to give up a pick (especially one that the Bears felt was a sleeper a year ago) for what might be one year of coaching. That said, I buy into Clements being the guy we can have with Cutler for a long time and I think Clements could fit into a long-term strategy with the Bears. The hard part is, no matter who we bring in, there will be a significant adjustment period where the offense adjusts to the new system and we will see plen…

The 2008 Vikings had Jackson and veteran Gus Frerotte both under center as the team went 10-6 and won the NFC North- the 1st Division title for the Vikings since 2000. When Jackson took over for an injured Frerotte in the 13th game of the season at Detroit (12/7/08) he led the team on a 4th-quarter comeback win and posted wins in 2 of the final 3 wins of the regular season. In Jackson’s 1st start…

  8. I was just looking back at the schedule in retrospect, and damn this is going to be a rough year no matter what coaches are hired. The Bears have games against 3 of the toughest divisions in the NFL, NFC East, AFC East, and their own. Half of their games will be against teams that made it into the play offs this year. They of course play the Packers and Vikings twice. They will host the Eagles, Patriots, and the Jets. Plus, they will travel to the Cowboys this year. I'd hate to call the Lions a give me game. They have been improving, but I'm glad the Bears play them twice. The Bills and Carolina are some what disfunctional, but still pose some what of a challen…

Evidently Hub Arkush is of the perception that the Bears low-balled Chud and that is the reason he isn't our OC. Per Hub, The Bears apparently offered Chud a contract but the value was well lower than what a typical OC gets paid. If true, what a freakin disgrace.

Kurt Warner is expected to announce his retirement on Friday. Could the Bears turn to Martz for their OC position and than offer Warner a job as our QB coach. I realize Warner would have a lot to prove, but he makes quick reads, gets rid of the ball quickly, and would be a pretty good role model for Cutler. Just throwing it out there since evidently NFL network is reporting that Warner wants to pursue coaching or the broadcast booth when he retires.

Once again we lose another potential OC. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...ator-candidate/

  14. Started by DABEARSDABOMB,

He currently works for Wanny but has a pretty good resume. Moon indicated that he might be one of the guys the Bears first targeted and are most interested in. I'll be interested to see what happens. I like his resume and his history of developing some pretty sucessful QB's (both in college and the pro's).

The guy is an offensive guru in the college ranks and has a long history of calling plays. He called them in Tennessee for a couple of years with Vince Young there and while that might not have been a great fit for the offense Chow likes, I think Cutler would be a perfect fit for him. I'd be all for Chow, in fact, I'd like him more than any other candidate. Chow was the offensive mind behind the early USC offenses with Palmer/Leinart.

As we sit here three weeks plus after the firing of five offensive coaches and announcing that we are going to bring in a new defensive coordinator, does it seem that this team is getting more and more chaotic and being a total laughing stock within the NFL? There has been a lot of speculation on why the Bears have not hired any coordinators and hired only Mike Tice at this point. Is there now a stigma on this team with the fact that most everyone is seeing the writing on the wall that the current head coach is a total lame duck and no one truthfully wants to come in and coach knowing that the probability next season that they will all be looking for a new job. People t…

If the Bears promote from in, Hoke should be the man. Check out his bio. Haugh says he is definately an in your face coach which should make many of you happy. http://www.chicagobears.com/team/coach.asp?coach_id=28 If he is promoted they could promote Gill Byrd who is currently the asst. defensive backs coach.
