After reading Brad Briggs, he lives Bears football he states our cap to be 10.9 We cut spaeth,Davis, Hester, Mannley and that gives us 8.2 mill to add to the pie. Adam suggested some of the bottom of the roster guys can give us another 2 mil. (since we replace those players with the ones we sign) Lets say we reconstruct a few contracts to give us another 2.7 mil. So our total comes to 21.8 mil. drop the 5 million for the rookie pool. The Trib says the Bears are also looking at Bushrod and Cook and might have to choose between the two. I say if the Bears can get out of FA with either Long or Bushrod, I'd consider it a success. I'd even pay a little more for Long, all things being equal. I don't love Cook, and think it might be more prudent to sign a second-tier potential starter at TE (I've always liked Delanie Walker) and spend the extra $ at LT and look at TE and OG in the first round of the draft.

That both linemen that the bears have chosen come from very fast pace offensive teams. In face they come from two of the top five scoring teams. So is this a sign that the bears are picking athletes that can keep up with that fast pace?
