49ers offensive coordinator Mike Martz immediately phoned Isaac Bruce Thursday night after learning of Bruce's release from the Rams. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that if Bruce gets on a plane to San Francisco Friday, it won't be for a formal visit. It will be to sign a contract

Trib reports: "The Bears re-signed defensive end Joe Clermond to the practice squad Tuesday. Clermond entered the league with the Bears this season as an undrafted free-agent out of Pittsburgh." Now the DL is solidified. Now we are going to kick butt! NOT!

This is always a bad time of the year to stay interested in football for me, draft gone, free agency almost gone, training camp hasnt started yet. Since we actually do not need a starter anywhere, what depth spot is the biggest priority? If we lose MT, Chase can cover a few games, last year we had this scenario and we finished 12-4. If MT is out for the year we are screwed anyway. If we lose a WR, we have M. Hall, Patterson, and Wims as backups. position is good If we lose Davis we still have Cohen, Nall and Patterson, that would work out. I thought there was some good efforts today, some players showed they are who we thought they are. I’m not disappointed backing into the playoffs but going forward something I think needs to change organizationally. We know GB is the standard bearer, so given that has Teddy, Pace & Nagy really closed the gap. I don’t think so , so why not change something.

In the last couple seasons Hester has focused on weight lifting to get stronger, and IMO it showed on the field as he lost some of his quickness and burst.
