How do they work? Are their candidates on the team that can save us big? I read an article that said the Bears restructured Peppers contract and saved 8M in cap space! Is that still possible under the new CBA or whatever? We already have a decent amount of money to work with but they can never have too much!

This weekend, I played GM for the Bears in an online 7 round mock draft. Here's what we ended up with: 2) Rashad Johnson, S, Alabama - With Robiskie gone, this was a pretty easy decision, as I didn't want to reach for Iglesias or Massaquoi. 3) Brandon Tate, WR, North Carolina - A bit of an injury risk, but the best potential of any WR left, although I considered Jarret Dillard as well. 4) Henry Melton, DE, Texas - A guy the Bears appear to like a lot with the speed they are looking for off the end. 5a) Gerald McRath, LB, Southern Miss - Not on my radar really, but the highest rated player on the board for me with the versatility and speed at LB the Be…

I participated in a 4 round mock draft with our old affiliation (www.nflfans.com) this morning. Pretty much every team had a representative, no trades, and we went straight through in about 2 1/2 hours. Things did not go at all as I had expected them to, so I thought I would share my picks, my thoughts, and the full results: 1) Mark Sanchez, QB, USC - I was truly unprepared for Sanchez to be here and had been preparing to take a WR. lemonej brought up an interesting point during the post on the new rookies' numbers and Moore having Mike Brown's old number. And then mentioned other instances in the past... I have no problem with it. However, my thought is that if the players' number in question is in the HoF, we should retire that jersey! Ie. 99 needs to be retired NOW!

It appears Loggains wants to keep a FB on the roster. If so, this likely means we keep 3 TEs. I am not saying I like this draft for the Bears. I do find it interesting as it is a recent 7 round draft with selections for the Bears that do not seem rubber stamped from the numerous mock drafts that have been posted. I'm going to get ripped, and even I'm confused as to why I'm making this thread. 1. Derek Anderson hasn't looked too good, but they are paying him $10 million a year, and I don't think they'll be paying him that riding the pine. 2. Orton is a back-up QB in the NFL (just a starter here, and a few other places). The best out of division opponents for this year are SF, HOU, DAL, and TEN, and none of those are really scary teams. 11-12 wins seems fairly reasonable to me.
