I remember when Tillman was "excused" from practices, and all that was reported was he had family issues. I think it later came out there was something going on w/ his daughter, but I personally do not recall ever reading the story. As a father, w/ a young daughter, reading this story really hit home. I seriously can not even imagine, and don't want to, what it had to be like. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/columns/...&id=4603424

Personnel changes I would like to see: I should first point out that for many of these changes, there is no chance, while others have already been announced. Still, this is a list of moves I think should be considered or done. Also, while scheme and playcalling could add to this list, I am just looking at personnel changes. Offense: - Flip flop Pace and Williams. Williams was expected to play LT this year until we brought in a former pro bowler, and Williams was moved to RT w/ the belief that we added a player too good not to start at LT. Well, that is far from the case. To me, there is no reason to continue wasting potential developmental time for Wil…

  9. Rodgers, Sharper, Knox win NFC player of month honors Posted by Mike Florio on October 29, 2009 4:34 PM ET The NFL has unveiled the players of the month for October. For the NFC, the offensive player of the month is Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who somehow generated a 123.9 passer rating while otherwise running for his life behind a porous offensive line. He completed 74.5 percent of his throws, and he averaged 10.5 yards per attempt in leading the Packers to two wins in three games. Saints safety Darren Sharper is the NFC defensive player of the months, thanks to three interceptions in October, two of which were returned for touchdowns in three g…

some *excerpts... ok i can understand a coach getting fed up with the same questions over and over and wanting to stick up for his players. stating "we've got a good offensive line" a bit over the top but... he has no idea why?? that's a pretty scary statement. even taking heat and getting fed up with the media this is an amazing statement to utter even in your sleep. hmmmmmm... maybe if i knew each player personally i would like them too. but to say we have "good players and good depth"? is he living on bizzaro world? in regards to beekman... this is his high recommendation? his analysis of our supposedly future center? he is…

We were called out on national tv yet again. THis embarassing loss holds all the info we need to know about the state of Chicago pro football... 1. We have nothing on the lines. It's all won and lost in the trenches and we have nothing. The O Line is a joke, and for all the hoopla around Marinelli, hte D line is a joke. Jason, nfo and a ton of other posters have been clammoring for O Line in the draft to the point where suggestions were made that every single pick be the line. That idea is not silly, it's a virtual must now... 2. We miss Urlacher. If not just for his speed and knowledge, his fire is sorely needed out on that field. Briggs is great, but d…

Maybe I'm showing my naivete here but: in watching Lovie on the sideline, the past many years the closest I ever saw him to even saying anything into the headset or even addressing anyone on the sideline was to pull the microphone down by his mouth, hesitate for a second, then put it back up. On Sunday vs. Bengals, he wasn't even wearing the earpiece right, it was over his cheek or jaw for a lot of the game. Doesn't exactly give me confidence that he's in any kind of control.

So, what is wrong with our Bears? Is this game a one-off F£££ up, or an indication of deeper problems? Will Lovie and company ever be able to deliver another Super Bowl? Is there any reason to keep watching this year....lol.?

  14. Started by DrunkBomber,

These come out about once every three seasons but after this game I think I want to vent/evaluate where I see the team. First: Brian Urlacher. There is a lot of hate for him and a lot of people thinking he isnt needed or we can do with out him. IMO, he is the best linebacker in the cover 2/Tampa 2 in the game and possibly ever (for the current scheme we run). He isnt replaceable and I think people overlook what he does in pass defense in the middle of the field. When he is done, our Tampa 2 is done, Lovie is done and we are starting over. Defense: In a lot of trouble. Lance Briggs is a top 10 defensive player in the league, but after that we are hurting. …

  17. Clearly cutler has the tools, and more natural talent than Kyle Orton. Fine. But bringing him into this situation, namely a mediocre to poor defense with no secondary whatsoever, and no personnel movements made to shore up the secondary, and the most predictable offense in the leauge, was doomed from the start. While everyone was overcome with man-crushes on Cutler, I found myself wondering: is he going to play cornerback? Orton and offense were the BRIGHT spot last year, ie the Falcons game, the Carolina game, the Bucs game, all of which the defense gave up leads at the end. Of all the parties involved, Cutler has gotten the worst deal career wise. He may walk away…

  18. I'll put in my 2 cents later, after considerable research, but I'm wondering what everyone else would do. I'm not talking about picking out all the guys who have excelled this year and shoving them into the Bears lineup. I'm talking about going with the glaring holes the Bears have, and picking the guys in the most logical order. Keep the original picks that the Bears had to give up in order to trade for Cutler, and I wonder how many holes could be filled.

  19. Started by Controlled Chaos,

You can only go as far as your offensive line will take you. This organization continues to ignore it. A great O-Line will make an average QB and average RB good. A shit O-line will make a great QB and great RB look below average. It's just the way it is now. Gone are the days when the O-line were just anonymous bludgeoners. They are VITAL to offensive success. That's why most of us in here were clamoring for Faneca regardless of his price tag. It's that big of a deal. When I hear Thayer and Hampton talk about certain players lack of knowledge with hand positioning or leverage. I'm dumbfounded. These are supposed to be elite players playing at their highest lev…
