So I've been wondering, as I'm sure a lot of you have, why the Bears have totally abandoned the run this season. It's clear that the running game hasn't been great (although the Beekman/Omiyale swap has helped immensely) but even considering that, I haven't been able to figure out why Turner would go a whole game and only call 6 or 8 runs for Forte. To that end, here's an article from Advanced NFL Stats that's very, very worth reading, especially as it helps explain the Bears' struggles this season. The author applies some very in-depth statistical analysis and economic theory to football teams' decision-making, in terms of both their run/pass ratio and their prefe…

Posted 9 minutes ago Bills fire Jauron after dismal 3-6 start NFL.com Wire Reports The Buffalo Bills have fired coach Dick Jauron, a team source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora. Defensive coordinator Fewell Perry is expected to become the Bills' interim head coach, a Bills source told NFL.com's Vic Carucci. In just short of four seasons with the Bills, Jauron compiled a record of 24-33 (.421 winning percentage). The Bills failed to make the playoffs in each season under Jauron. Buffalo has not made the playoffs since 1999, the longest active streak for a non-expansion team. On Monday, defensive end Aaron Schobel questioned the Bills' l…

Harris: We owe it to Lovie to play better Posted by Michael David Smith on November 16, 2009 6:53 PM ET Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris says he and his teammates need to get to the playoffs not just for themselves, but for coach Lovie Smith -- who, according to Harris, has been so good to the players that they must repay him by playing well. "We owe it to him," Harris said Monday. "That guy has been great to us from training camps to what he's done with the facilities. Different things that you see other coaches really don't care about, but this guy has come in and helped us out tremendously, and we owe it back to him." It's a little surprising that Ha…

They are done. Cutler killed us tonight. The defense actually played ok but they cannot dig themselves out of this hole. Way too many injuries. This is not our season. Time to see the younger players so they get game experience. Peace

I want more Devin A. Does anyone know if he has ever seen the field before that play where he made that tip toe catch. It was so refreshing to see such a play. I cannot remember a catch like that for a bear player in a long time. It looked like a catch that other teams make, because of his size and just the way it looked. I was like "where did that come from"

He had a great game catching the ball and the blocking was very good for him (over 100 yds in receiving). The offense did do a very good job on screens tonight. I saw great blocking from Kruetz. Garza, and Bennett. Peace

I am disgusted after this week more than I have been in a long time. With that said, the INTs are deceiving in my opinion. INT #1: This was a forced throw by Cutler, but he was left with little choice. The play-calling on this set of downs was typical Turner, and absolutely atrocious. Two runs up the middle on first and second lead the Bears to a third and goal, and EVERYONE in the world knew it was going to be a pass. So, why play action at all? The run didn't fool anyone. And even if the Niners were stupid enough to maybe expect a run, which they weren't, it wasn't like they'd be scared anyway because they just stuffed it on the previous two plays. At that p…

That Omiyale had replaced Beekman on the last drive. ZZ asked him after the game why Beekman was replaced and Lovie said that was the 1st he aware of it. ZZ asked if Beekman was injured and Lovie said no. Just food for thought. Peace

Changes I would make for next yr: 1 - Olsen moves to WR. Let's face it, he cannot block and I don't want to see him try anymore. Thayer was saying Kellen Davis has improved. Keep working with him and draft another blocking TE. 2 - Draft a blocking FB or get the best one on the FA market. They come cheap and can normally play well even at the twilight of their career. McKie is gone. 3 - Sign at least one o-lineman in FA. Not a project but a proven vet that is considered in the top 3 available. Draft 1 to 2 more. Get rid of Pace and get road graters. 4 - Move Williams to LT. Lose Pace. Tell Omiyale he is competing for RT (Do not simply give hi…

"We knew we were going to throw on every down, so that's why we made a switch," Ron Turner said about inserting the larger Omiyale at the end of the game." Omiyale has not just been bad on run downs this year. He has been miserable on passing downs as well. In fact, I actually think he has been worse on passing downs than run downs. So why the hell would we insert Omiyale in there on the final drive when we plan to pass the ball. There was a point in the 2nd quarter when the OL started to play a bit better, but it didn't last long. This OL was a joke. Bears say Pace got the wind knocked out of him, but how stupid does Lovie think we are. Getting the wind…

From PFT, Cutler fined $20,000 for "abusive conduct" Jay Cutler has doled out a lot of abuse of late. He punished Bears fans and fantasy owners with five interceptions Thursday night, not to mention viewers tuning in to Thursday Night Football looking for a quality game. Now he's been fined $20,000 for "abusive conduct" toward a game official in Chicago's loss to the Cardinals five days ago, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Cutler was flagged during the game for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when he complained to referee Ed Hochuli about a non-call on a fourth-and-4 in the third quarter in which Cutler thought Greg Olsen was held. Se…

Why was he longsnapping to Cutler's shoes all night long? I'm convinced it was the cause of one of the turnovers... He is a shell of his former self.

I believe one of cutlers problems is he does not pump the ball. I've always got on the Bear's qb for not pumping the ball. P.Manning does it up to 3 times a play sometimes I'm always see Big Ben do it, Farve,Brees and many other do it consistantly. I believe 2 red zone ints could of went for td's if he'd pump it once.I know our line sucks, but there are times where I'm yelling at cutler to pump the damn ball,it works, it works, it works. It's all the little chit that seems to not be tought that pisses me off. I can hadle mistakes, but the little things that never seem to be a fixture just irritate me. I talked about a few of them the other day ago here but do not want to r…

I just am... He's a failure. Here's PIT's last 6 drafts: 2008 - 1st - Mendenhall - looks to be very good with lots of upside if he can stop fumbling (The guy I wanted the Bears to draft) 2007 - 1st Timmons, 2nd Woodley - great D starters 2006 - 1st Santonio Holmes - pro bowl type guy (Also got T Colon in the 4th) 2005 - 1st - Heath Miller (one of the best TE's in the league) 2004 - 1st - Big Ben - 'nuff said (also OT Starks taken in the 3rd) 2003 - 1st - Polamalu - best S since Lott OK, mayb they got lucky, but when you compare ours (I don't need to put it up), it's just garbage. Until Angelo goes, we will be mediocre....
