Clearly from our first two picks Pace is drafting to win now. The reason I wanted to draft an OT high is for the same reason. For starters, teams that draft OL early and often generally have a good to great OL. We simply don't find enough time in that slot. Ok, so I took a look at the trade values for both of the Bears 2nd round picks and which teams had compatible trade value options based on the picks they had. The options are based on the total value the team would get back, the options are in order of value the Bears would get back, so Option 1 has the most value. For the 43rd pick, it has a value of 470. Imagine if our training camp QB battle came down to Kyle Orton vs Chris Simms. Simms was the QB a lot thought JA would pursue to push Kyle along. Who would of won? Most likely Orton without a doubt, there wouldn't have been a real competition. Now, we get to see this competition for real. Denver will most likely not hand this job over b/c of favorites. It'll come down to a real battle and we'll get to see if Kyle is actually a decent QB or not. What are the odds? Does our homerism already convince us that Kyle is the better QB? Since when does this defense not give up huge plays. 77 touchdown pass to Megatron and now an 88 yard TD run by Best. The analysts, beat writers of the national sports media outlets are the biggest culprits and if you listen closely to them they back peddle after they make they're claims. This year more than ever before the info has been flowing in a different directions everyday. The NFL Network is the worst at it as they try to scoop the others plus create a buzz for the league.

I had what I thought was a pretty interesting thought while I was over at my buddies. He brought the topic of the hybrid D and the whole giving Ds different looks like that has been talked about all offseason. I know the Bears have said they are keeping the 4-3, but I don't know if that completely rules out some 3-4 sub packages. Seattle is a 4-3 team but they also had some 3-4 packages. As of right now, these amounts are the contracts that each team in the NFL has committed for 2011. It's good information but there are a lot of details to add. First, the cap in 2009, the last year that a cap existed, was about $130 million. Second, these numbers exist prior to basic offseason moves, like cutting people with non-guaranteed contracts, making qualifying offers to restricted free agents, and attempting to use the franchise/transition tag.
