A quarter of the season is already over. Lets take a look at the offensive and defensive statistics through the first 4 games of the season. I'll split the offense and defense into two threads so this post doesn't get too crazy long. First, we'll take a look at the offense as a whole, and then the QB play. *Please note that this discussion is about what you have seen through 4 games, what you like, what you don't like etc.. 2013 Bears (4 games) Total Offense (Yards/Game): 12th (352.2 yds/gm) PPG: 3rd (31.8 ppg) Yards per play: 12th (5.6) 1st downs per game: 21st (18.5) 3rd down percentage: 21st (35%) Penalties: 26th (which is good) (15) …

  5. PRO DAY RESULTS: Free safety Quentin Scott impressed scouts from eight teams at Northern Iowa's pro day on March 31st. Scott (6-3 7/8, 224) worked out as both a defensive back and a wide receiver and put together a really good workout. He ran a 4.40-second and 4.45-second 40-yard dash, had a 35-inch vertical leap, 10-1 broad jump, 4.18-second short shuttle, 6.88-second three-cone drill and completed 13 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. His arms were measured at 34 5/8 inches. Ten of Scott's teammates and two players from small area schools also worked out indoors on Mondo track.

  7. Bears sign DE Al-Quadin Muhammad to 2yr 10M deal (per Schefter). He played DE for Colts last season. Seems like a solid signing.

Some die-hard fans are unwilling to accept the fact that the Bears are no longer "cheap" and are willing to pay up to give us a good team. Those who acknowledge that we are not the Bear penny pinchers of the past always come back with a "but we spend the money unwisely", an argument that has some foundation, IMO. Emery is making moves to make sure we do indeed spend our money wisely, increase our quality of drafts and FA acquisitions, by overhauling the Scouting System we have had in place, and I am sure the additional staff and internal promotions cost the owners a good chunk of change. However, if successful, could indeed save them from wasting money in the futur…

So here it is: Bears get: Jay Cutler, Johnny Knox - WR Broncos get: Kyle Orton, Robert Ayers - DE, Richard Quinn - TE (for picks #79 & #84), Alphonso Smith - CB (for 1st Round pick in 2010) Steelers get: Kraig Urbik - OL, Mike Wallace - WR (both picks for pick #64) Seahawks get: Bears #1 pick in 2010 (for pick #37) It seems that Denver had a chance to come out pretty good with the original trade. However, trading away a first rounder for A. Smith was a pretty big reach. Then trading picks #79 and #84 to grab Quinn was also pretty questionable. Seattle and Pittsburgh both made out pretty good.

http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/a...e/p2p-77654374/ Not to read into it too much but knowing how Marshall does have a tendancy to be "mercurial" and appears to be unsatisfied with his recent production... Might be worth taking note. Take into account that just a few weeks ago he was interviewed and said that he didn't want for Jay to throw to him if he were double or triple covered and that there were other options available on the team if need. And....we know his back (?) has been bothering him for some time now.

It's that time of year again, looking to start up our Community Mock Draft by getting the various teams assigned to our in house GM's. If you are interested, please let me know which teams you would like to draft for, and I will go until we get thru all 32. If we can get the teams locked in over the next week, I would like to start the draft next weekend to give each pick enough time to do some research, etc.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7373064.story I noted earlier in the off season that he is working out with Marshall, Jeffery, and Rodriguez so they're keeping the clique together so to speak lol. Gonna make 480k

  18. 1. They went after Willie Colon, i know it didnt work out but it at least shows that the Bears FO is trying to upgrade our Oline. Hopefully they contiune trying to sign someone else. 2. They signed Roy Williams. I know he has his issues but he is tall and has speed and most importantly he knows the Martz system, if he is ready to show everyone he is more then the fluff we have seen the last couple of years he should be able to get out to t quick start. 3. I like the Gholston pick up, some may not but im excited to see what he can do when put back at the DE position. 4. Olsen, i would have liked for the Bears to keep him. but who knows if Olsen would have stayed afte…

For our friends on the other side of the pond: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...55.story?page=3 8. Big props to the U.K. Bears fan club, as passionate a group of football fans as you’ll discover in any Chicago neighborhood. I met up with them Saturday night to watch some college football. Only a few bars in London show college football, and we were at one not too far from the Chelsea soccer stadium. There were a few in the group from London, but the vast majority had traveled long distances to be in town for the game. One fellow came from Sweden and another was from Spain. Another guy made his way about 100 miles from Bournemouth after his wife deliv…
