I like how Emery is filling out this roster. He didn't bite on restructuring veterans to make more cap space. He is following a plan even though us as fans want the right now satisfaction. By this time next year, we will have at least 7 picks to load up and our cap situation should be healthy were we can continue to add or sign our own. LB is a position we were in desperate need of. Williams and Anderson are on one year contracts and Briggs is getting up there in age. I called for Ogletree/Brown in my last mock, we couldve went that route. This is always a bad time of the year to stay interested in football for me, draft gone, free agency almost gone, training camp hasnt started yet. Bears third-string QB Matt Blanchard has been diagnosed with a fractured knuckle. Although the injury is to Blanchard's left (non-throwing) hand, it severely dents his roster chances. Coach Marc Trestman hinted the team will sign another quarterback. The Bears worked out JaMarcus Russell, Trent Edwards and Jordan Palmer earlier this summer. Considering Jay Cutler's recent fragility, we'd guess the Bears would like to carry three quarterbacks.

This may not surprise some of you who were paying more attention. I find it amazing. A team that went 10-6 last year and we replaced 60% of the roster! I have no reason not to trust Emery at this point and regardless I admire his ability to put his stamp on the team this quickly. It looks like it's working but actual game results will tell us the real answer soon enough. I sure hope he knows what he's doing. (The 32/53 number came from Channel 2 sports at 6 tonight. I haven't confirmed.)
