Rodgers, Sharper, Knox win NFC player of month honors Posted by Mike Florio on October 29, 2009 4:34 PM ET The NFL has unveiled the players of the month for October. For the NFC, the offensive player of the month is Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who somehow generated a 123.9 passer rating while otherwise running for his life behind a porous offensive line. He completed 74.5 percent of his throws, and he averaged 10.5 yards per attempt in leading the Packers to two wins in three games. Saints safety Darren Sharper is the NFC defensive player of the months, thanks to three interceptions in October, two of which were returned for touchdowns in three g…

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0104-story.html Thought this summary was a pretty good read and I generally agreed with all of his answers. Two things that stood out was how he is trusting the process and being patient and highlighting how despite various reports, John and Ryan are absolutely on the same page. As long as that is the case, then I fully agree with the decision to keep with the path, but I do agree this is going to be a pretty defining offseason, mainly because we have to find a way to get a QB and It might be that out of all the guys available (via draft / trade / free agency) only one guy (if that) might be that guy and somehow we have to…

Charlie Casserly...The #Bears might have the best 34 ILB combo in the NFL with Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman @nflnetwork Matt Miller.....Ranked Freeman and Trevathon 2nd and 3rd in his ILB rarankings. Not just free agents, not just 3-4 ILBs, just ILBs period. Has Keuchly as the only ILB ahead of them. PFF..... Has them ranked 2nd and 6th among all ILBs. Pretty incredible stuff. Fangio has his Willis/Bowman.

Zach Zaidman @ZachZaidman 5m5 minutes ago #Bears reached an agreement with Sam Garnes (assistant DBs), Dave Magazu (OL coach) and Derius Swinton II (assistant ST coach). Per the Bears' website, Earl Bennett is changing his number from 85 to 80. Apparently he wanted to go back to his college number (10) but the NFL won't let you switch from an 80-89 number to a 10-19 number. Seems like a dumb rule to me. However, he's now got 80, Berrian's old number. The superstitious part of me thinks that could be a good thing. The article also lists the new rookies' numbers, and there are a couple of other familiar ones: Earl Bennett: 80 (Bernard Berrian) Al Afalava: 46 (Chris Harris, Doug Plank) Mike Rivera: 59 (Rosevelt Colvin, Ron Rivera) Derek Kinder: 83 (Willie Gault) D.J. Moore: 30 (Mike Brown) ...then again, Rashied Da…

Not sure how many of you know I am now the lead sports reporter for The Woodstock Independent and the Harvard Main Line two local papers in McHenry County. I have been in the job since August of last year. After the Packers beat the Bears and were headed to the Superbowl, once of our young stringers at the paper contacted the office and asked if he could try to get a press pass for the Superbowl to cover Bryan Bulaga from the Packers (Bulaga went to Marian Central in Woodstock). We told him yes, wished him luck, and thought there was no way he would get one. Later that week, he called to say after 30 plus calls and several emails he had succeeded. His pass a…
