Today on ESPN1000, Silvy/Waddle were explaining part of the St. Clair situation. They said the Bears offered the 3 yr 4.5 million deal. St. Clair said he was looking for a deal close to 3yr 15 million. The Bears did not budge and said to hit the market to find your value. At Cleveland, they offered him a 3yr 9 million deal which nearly fell apart after the numbers were figured out. I'm thinking St. Clair was trying to get the Bears back involved but Cleveland said take it or leave it. I find that amusing, but can't hate a guy for trying. Rumors circulating around that Chip Kelly wants to opt out of his contract after the dismissal of his buddy Tom Gamble. Gamble + Kelly? Too good to be true. I would absolutely love it, but I could see Chip going back to college if there is not a perfect situation out there.

From PFW's "Audibles" section, where they supposedly are getting inside, anonymous information from NFL Scouts, coaches, and front-office personnel, they pose the following thought: "I'm surprised the Bears have not tried Carimi at left tackle. That's what he played at Wisconsin. Chris Williams looked better than Carimi at right tackle, and Williams had to bailed out from playing on the outside. He couldn't get it done at tackle or guard." You mean draft players and play them in the position they know?

I read where with the money due Lewis this off season, he might be released. Any takers? I think his production wasnt great because of poor QBacking.

He looks the part of a good outside rusher and he was physical enough with the OTs to take advantage of his quickness at times. In the 3rd quarter he tossed aside the RT creating a clear lane to the QB. The ball was released before he could close the play. While he's not the strongest it seems the coaches are teaching how to use his speed and quickness to get into players before they are set. So some dude on Bleacher Report writes (use the term loosely) on the 6 teams he is betting on to not hit their win total and that are overrated. He thinks the Bears will not hit 6.5 wins, which may be true but he clearly doesn't know who is on this team or their schedule. So Mooney, Kmet, or Johnson are not established starters apparently. Stopgap?

I spent time doing some mocks and lots of trade down scenarios and subsequently started scouting deeper into the draft. The first thing that I seemed to notice is that DT talent seems to be lacking in this draft. I could be wrong but my sense is that after Rd 1/2 there isn't a whole lot of depth. There are round 2 DTs like Gervon Dexter I have no desire to draft because he's so slow off the snap. That just leads me to think FA is the way to go for fixing DT this offseason and we can focus draft picks elsewhere. I like Drew Sanders at MLB. He's got some baggage, or growth areas, since Alabama kept him on-ball but he looks pretty good off-ball in these highlight…

In a move that is polar opposite from what the staff with the Bears do with holdouts,the Giants immediately put their star DE back with the first team when he was cleared to play and announced he would practice under the terms of his current contract. I wonder if maybe he will use the upcoming game against the Bears to solidfy his case for a new deal. The game in the Meadowlands last season should have been on his personal highlight film for 2010.

With the unexpected good play of Kush continuing as we near the end of camp the news yesterday was that Daniels will spend the next week practicing at Center. Keep in mind Kush just started the Hall of Fame game at Center and Hiestand said he played well. That means is Kush is the starter at LG he might be the backup Center on game day, or it could be Daniels. Right now it appears the top 3 options at Center are Whitehair, Kush, Daniels. It seems clear Grasu is on the outside looking in as he competes for a roster spot.
