News on the Score was that the Pats have placed the franchise tag on Cassell. So, one potential option is off the board.

I like the hiring, but it seems like they are replacing Shanny with a much younger Shanny. Both are great offensive minded coaches who are great with QB's and connect with their players. Now, I'm thinking Romeo Crennel as their DC.

Bobby Douglas argues Tebow would be a great pick for the Bears, possibly a 2nd rd selection... I think he is crazy. How many Gator QBs succeed in the NFL? Article Where Bobby Douglas endorses Tebow as Bears Draft Selection

Adam Schefter Will Delhomme return to Carolina next season? Posted: January 11th, 2009 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Carolina Panthers, Derek Anderson, Jake Delhomme, Michael Vick Streeter Lecka/Getty Images Tampa Bay is no longer the lone NFC South team expected to be looking for a quarterback this offseason. With his woeful performance Saturday night, Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme made Tarvaris Jackson look like Bart Starr. In fact, the five interceptions Delhomme threw Saturday night were two more than Starr threw in his entire postseason career that consisted of 213 passing attempts. With his 39.1 passer rating (which seemed more like 0.0), Delh…

There's lots of bellowing about fixing the quarterback position. What bugs the hell out of me is that it's easy as hell to say, but not easy to fix. At LEAST 2/3's of the teams in the NFL are unhappy with their quarterback situation. (If not more) and the teams who are happy sure as hell ain't giving them up. How many teams would like to have Kyle Orton? At least two teams in our division would. For the sake of argument, I'm going to take Angelo at his word that he wants to solidify the QB situation. To me that means no old quarterbacks who'll be done in a year or two. So that would exclude Kurt Warner, Kerry Collins, and Jeff Garcia. According to thi…

I never really thought they had much of a chance, but if San Diego made it to the Superbowl, we would have moved up a draft slot. Well, baring some miracle, the Steelers are thumping them right now and are gonna be in the AFC championship game. So, our official draft slota on the first day will be: -18th pick in round 1, 18th overall -17th pick in round 2, 49th overall The rest of our picks now are pretty much contingent on how Arizona does next week, and where all the comp picks go to.

It probably won't happen, but I'd love to find a way to get a DE/WR/QB in the 1st two rounds. Obviously we wouldn't be able to get all 3 in two rounds but guys that intrigue me a lot at the WR position are Hakeem Nicks and Jeremy Maclin (I don't care if he's small the guys a freaking player and would be one hell of a weapon...put him and Hester on a field with a nice posession receiver and you got a pretty sick WR corps especially when you combine it with the weapons we have at the TE position). The QB I want and want badly is Matt Sanchez. This guy screams strong pro. He has good mobility and a strong arm and really all the tools. He isn't as uberly talented a…

Looking at the way this team has evolved the last 5 seasons, I feel it is in a transition phase. The transition phase is both mental and physical. The mental side of the coin belongs to the defense. I see a defense that is no longer willing to impose its will on the other team. It used to be the other team would choke, kowing we were going to make the play that would beat them. Now, we are reduced to the QB in the opposing huddle saying, "we got this". Our veterens need to step up and become what they once were. If you look at the ages of our highly paid vets, they are far from through physically. The key to our staff and players is finding a way to get that…

Below are players that could be around our slot by looking at a Walterfootball.com mock. I did a quick 3 rounds and ranked them in order I like. Round One: Bears Big 10 (In order I think Bears should have them) Duke Robinson G Oklahoma 6-5 330 Pros: Huge body that he used very well blocking. All Pro prospect Cons: Guard is position that rarely see's RD1, Robinson proj around 25th William Moore S Missouri 6-1 227 Pros: Leader for Mizou's D, can play either S position, great hitter, football IQ, ability to create turnovers. Cons: Probably more suited to play the box which we seem to be loaded w/ right now Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri 6-1…

I have looked every where, has the NFL admitted fault with their banded substance list or is the case still pending. Because it would be a positive boost going into the season with them suspended and if so I hope we get them in the first 4 weeks any thoughts.

Kurt Warner should be high on Chicago Bears' shopping list Bears would be wise to show interest in 37-year-old potential Hall of Fame QB David Haugh | On the Bears January 6, 2009 An NFL general manager who establishes finding a quarterback as his team's top off-season priority, as Jerry Angelo has for the Bears, is like an astronaut who says he is ready to soar into space. Conceptually, there can be no limits to the possibilities, or what's the use? That thought left the deepest impression when considering how the Bears viewed the first round of the NFL playoffs, a weekend that included 37-year-old free-agent-to-be Kurt Warner taking the Arizona Cardi…

http://profootball.scout.com/2/816325.html Here's a link to the available free agent tackles. If we can get a good RT in FA we can focus on a good OG in the draft within the first 3 rounds, hopefully resign St Clair to play the other Guard and have the makings for a good OLINE.

I was very impressed with him today. He's a rare guy who's a possession WR but can stretch a simple 8 yard pass into a 40 yard gain. He caught a 15 yard pass today and ended up taking it 65 or so yards for a TD. He's a monster. If this guy is really on the market and Angelo really doesn't want to give up a 1st and a 3rd, they're nuts and so is he. If I were Angelo, I'd make the trade. Period.

January 6, 2009 Bears release linebackers coach Lloyd Lee By: By Larry Mayer | Last Updated: 1/6/2009 6:07 PM LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Bears on Tuesday released linebackers coach Lloyd Lee. Lee originally joined the team in 2004 as a defensive quality control coach, a role which he filled for two seasons before becoming a defensive assistant working with linebackers in 2006 and nickel backs in 2007. This past season was Lee’s first as linebackers coach. Last Tuesday the Bears released defensive backs coach Steve Wilks after three seasons with the team. Another defensive assistant who won’t return in 2009 is line coach Brick Haley, who is pursuing an …
