There's a lot of smoke these days around the draft including some potential trades. At the top of my list is the spectacle in NE where Belichick is reportedly shopping Mac Jones. I'm so old I can remember when the media loved Jones and how he was the better pick over the other QBs. What this could mean for the draft I'm not sure and I have no clue what kind of value Jones would garner. At this point it seems clear we'll see 3 QBs go in the top 5: Stroud, Young, and Richardson. Levis is the wildcard but will he drop out of the top 10 or does Tenn come up and grab him at 9? What exactly is Belichick plan at QB? Hendon Hooker? Trade up to get Levis if he drops? …

Fields used to have a bunch of these games, now his worst games are not as terrible as they used to be. That tells me his floor is rising, which is promising. So at least Poles hit a home run with Edwards. He needs to lock this hometown dude up with a long term contract. He is on pace to have one of the best LB season's in Bears history, on par with Urlacher's best. Crazy to think these are the only teams the Bears lost to (see below). The worst teams are GB and MIN that play each other tonight. So the only one team that Fields lost to will go into Week 18 under .500, and 3 of those losses were the collapses. Odds are Justin will get traded. He has a long way to go to be a tier one QB, but you could win with him. He has some special in his game. Time moves on but one day Justin will get to a SB.

The big prize Connor Williams is still available and would be a great fit but his injury recovery really clouds the contract talks. Is Shelton gap insurance if we sign Williams? I just read an interesting article on si.com stating there has been misinformation about CW's fumbling issues. We've been talking about his 30+ fumbles in three years of college. According to the quote below (I assume it is correct), he really hasn't had nearly as much a problem holding onto the ball as the good old internet pundits have cried. I will have to check it out. But if true, one less thing to worry about.

Going into this season, we knew it would take some time to get on task with the new systems on O and D. Through week four we have seen some progression. On D, getting Booker, Jarrett and Edwards back is going to help a lot. Edmunds continues to disappoint, due to his unwillingness to stick his body into a running lane. He's my first cut candidate this off season creating an off season need. We are getting no pass rush whatsoever. This is on Poles for neglecting the position the last two drafts. It's a termination offense that won't happen. Hopefully Booker and Shemar can provide a spark because Sweat and Dexter can break through rice paper. Needs: FS, …

Pretty cool honors for the rook. Could've also went to Monangai or even Williams. If Loveland keeps up a solid pace, he could at least make the Warren v Loveland debate a little more even. He now has the PotW Honors, a 100-Yd game, and a 2-TD game to his credit. Warren has yet to break 80 yards receiving, which I was somewhat shocked about. It seemed like he was getting a lot of attention from the media, just to compare to Loveland, which I did as well.

Thuney and Byard make 1st Team, Wright makes 2nd team. I thought Dalman had a chance at Center. No one else on defense makes sense as Wright has been bad in coverage but with a lot of turnovers. On offense, Dalman feels like the only real snub considering the packed field at the skill positions. Byard is a free agent, and neither of the Safeties are signed beyond this year.

Seems like a lower-end depth piece. Played a year with DA in 2022 in NO, so there is some inside knowledge on what he brings.

Not a guy I’m familiar with, but he was super productive last year, including some good sack numbers, and while I’ve heard questions about his athletic ability he seemed to test pretty well. You probably had one more spot in the LB corps up for grabs so this is fine with me. Sounds like a good special teamer and pretty smart player. I might have preferred Harold Perkins, but I have no beef.
