When Cliff was running the contract negotiations and salary cap I always liked the fact we had our draft picks signed early. This is just 7 of 11 and i realize rookie salaries are tightly bracketed but this is still a good start. IIRC we also had better FA contracts that were more front-loaded and tended to give us more flexibility later in the deal. Great pick, didn't expect him to be there. Safety a huge strength for defense. Most mocks had him going in the top 20, good value at 25.

Are we just saying he's done, or is there some minor chance he could play, let's say in the Super Bowl? Did we officially shut him down the rest of the way per league rules?

In fact I can't name two (one name only because of Lane). Sounds like we are going to see a lot of different looks from our defense this year. Can't say results will be different but after a decade watching the Lovie 2 if nothing else at least it will have me wondering what we're going to do next.

It seems most if not all of the 2nd year QBs have struggled at some points during this offseason. We will see who is legit when the actual lights come on, but at least from a Fields perspective, he is not the only one who had a bad day or two this offseason. So apparently the Bengals are calling asking about Khalil Herbert in trade. They need a RB, having just lost Dixon. At the same time, Trey Hendrickson, their best edge rusher has asked for a trade. He had 17.5 sacks last year and has two years remaining on his deal. Hmmmm.

I would love to see GB end up with 9 or 10 wins and miss the playoffs. That would be worth part of my misery for this season. Looking at the Division and Wild Card, Detroit has the toughest remaining schedule, but gets GB at home in Week 17 to more than likely decide the Division. For the Wild Card, the Giants are pretty locked in at WC1 and it looks like WC2 will come down to WAS, TB, and the 2nd best team in the North (probably the loser of Week 17 GB/DET). We still have a hand in impacting the playoffs as we play WAS and MIN to end the season. 3-0 baby! And the defense doesn't have a damn thing to do with it. Our offense has done the work as our defense totally underwhelmed me. Through this start, the offense is leading their opponents in yards, points, 3rd down conversion % and time of possession. The defender was supposed to be a strength, but is has not shown yet. Whether it is the long drive or the big play, they keep getting gutted. A few things I have noticed: The pressure is there, but nobody is getting there!
