Didnt know where to put this, so just went new. Orakapo has been tagged as well as Hardy earlier. That leaves Bennett Houston Johnson as top level DEs that are left. I suspect they all get greater offers than we will suspect. SO we should target a FA of lesser valve or resign Wootten and grab one in the draft. We have to resign a couple of our own FAs and then fill in with some cheaper FAs because the draft will only bring us probably one quality recruit to start.

He wasn't tagged, obviously. I think Ward is more realistic. Either way, the safeties on the team don't belong on nfl rosters, Let alone starting.

Since the best draft teams take the BPA regardless of position. What if? one of the 3 OTs fall to us-Robinson-Mathews-Lewan (getting a top 10 LT that would move Bushrod to the right side, cant be all bad for a improving OL) What if? Barr or Mack drop to us- they are both 3-4 OLBers.( consistent top10 players that can rush the QB but are strictly 3-4 backers) What if? Watkins or Evans drops to us( these are elite type WRs and not sure we could pass them up) I would not like to consider any of those possibilities, but one of those situations could come up. I would think someone would be willing to give us lots of draft picks to grab one of those to…

With my recent talks of spending big on Bennett I figured I'd throw out an ideal mock offseason. STARTING CAP MONEY- 8.4M (per Brad Biggs) RELEASE (w/ Cap savings) Peppers (9.8M) Bush (1.8M) Bennett (2.4) Podlesh (1M) (Kept Weems just because he's a good ST player and only clears a mill) CAP MONEY AFTER CUTS- 23.4 EXTEND Marshall 3 years 7M/12M/15M (saves 2M) CAP MONEY AFTER EXTENSION- 25.4 SIGN (all numbers are cap hits) Michael Bennett- 4 years 8m/10m/12m/14m (DE Seahawks) Corey Wootton 1 year 1.5M Nate Collins 1 year 500k Jay Ratliff 2 years 2M/2.5M DJ Williams 1 year 1M Blake Costanzo 1 year 1M …

An article in NFL Mocks website had an article talking about the Bears making many 2nd tier players instead of a couple big names I think this is more on FAgency pans out instead of the Byrds and Bennetts. http://nflmocks.com/2014/03/04/chicago-bea...fl-free-agency/

Dumping Podlesh was no surprise. What's surprising is that he was the only guy cut. If more are coming, why wait? Other possible cuts include Michael Bush, Eric Weems, Peppers, and Earl Bennett. Are we going to wait to upgrade these positions? Make them go into training camp? I know Peppers has the June release date for cap reasons. Your thoughts?

I have not been able to find any details on the Mayors suggestion of adding 5,000+ seats to Soldier Field. Any idea on where the hell these would go that makes sense? I love the idea for a variety of reasons. Not to mention, we are the 2nd biggest market and have the 2nd smallest stadium. But I can't think of any way that this is logistically practical.

Just seen an national article that stated THE BEARS PURSUE BYRD AND WARD. There was an article in the SunTimes by Jahns that stated the Bears might be interested in going after those two because we had bad safeties last year. So someone else uses that to write an article that states we are pursuing them. Rumors get started on opinions and then they become statements. It is all bull crap. Ill stick with Brad Briggs, and weed thru the rest.

Released from Denver. Since Tillman doesn't want to play S and apparently Emery doesn't have much in the way of loyalty, would the Bears have use of him as a potential Safety?

Had a good year in 2009 but has fell of since. Started 2 games 2 years ago for the Pats, recorded 3 sacks. No question a vet min deal which doesn't hurt. Probably competes with Austin Lane for a spot on the team.

Moon posted this earlier... John Mullin @CSNMoonMullin 3h #Bears question w/ DT Henry Melton: would u draft a DT rehabbing ACL tear? would you pay him $2M UFA? #BearsTalk http://bit.ly/1ijdi6M If Melton's really only gonna cost 2M, which if he hits the market I doubt, sign me up. At 2M I think it's possible to sign both him and Bennett. I love Aaron Donald, but in some of the latest mocks I've seen him go 12th to the Giants and 11th to the Titans. The SI mock added that it wouldn't surprise anyone if he goes in the top 10. It might be wise not to count on him being there like I have been.

http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/lance-brig...&ocid=yahoo "Trade all the draft picks and bring my brothers back," Briggs deadpanned on the Kap and Haugh show Friday. Briggs, of course, is referencing Charles Tillman, Devin Hester, Julius Peppers and Brian Urlacher when he mentions his "brothers."

I will predict our FAgency moves so everybody can ignore my hits and condemn my misses Our own: Wootten D. J. Williams N. Collins Bowman Tillman-I think he ends up back and we lose Melton Britton Palmer Others: W. Young?DE-I think they add someone young with upside and dont win out on big names bidding wars C.Clemons/S- A solid younger player J.Arenas/CB-just a backup but can be a KR Dexter McCluster/RB-a speed backup to Forte-SWR- and KR Probably wont be right on any of these picks but t…

Two items caught my eye yesterday: Chad Henne signed a two year deal for $8mil Matt Cassell signed a two year deal for $10mil If that's the market for backup and/or care-taker QBs while rookies learn the ropes, goodbye Josh McCown. He did a great job for us and if he can now get a similar contract to those above then that's great for him and his family. It's just not a deal the Bears can do given all the needs on defense.
