Well, we are less than an hour from the draft kick off. I thought I'd start a thread to discuss general draft thoughts about all teams and picks.

Here is where the Bears are being drafted for FFB. Our top positional player is Burton, a top-10 TE. Trubisky - 25th QB, ADP 124.7, 13th Round pick, behind Mahomes, Mayfield, Keenum, Taylor, and just ahead of Jackson who is not even the starter. I figure he will end up in the middle of the league, 12th-16th but I don't see him as the 25th best QB in the league. Howard - 14th RB, ADP 30.0, behind McCaffery and McKinnon, and barely ahead of Mixon. Howard gets no love every year. A perennial top-10 RB and he is rarely drafted there (except in Bears leagues lol). Cohen - 35th RB, 108.8 ADP, this actually seems about right for a #2 RB, and if he is also returnin…

Miller's numbers between last year and this year are fairly comparable, except for one huge hole, TDs. Miller caught 7 TDs in 15 games last year, and thru 12, has yet to catch one. In other words he is due. I would not be surprised if he gets 2-3 in the next 4 games or has one of those Gabriel games where he gets 3. 2018 - 33-423, 7 TD 2019 - 38-489, 0 TD He has a chance at 50+ receptions and over 600 yards. Miller has an interesting comp with Antonio Brown, both around the same size, Brown's two year totals were 85-1275, 2 TDs. So Miller would need 362 yards (91 per game) to match Brown after year two. He only needs 14 receptions to match him (3.5 …

As expected Roquan Smith was put on IR. Former Buc and former Sooner OLB Devonte Bond was signed to the team in his roster spot. Looks to be a speed rusher so maybe competition for Floyd during the offseason? With Smith out on IR, the defense has lost Trevathan, Amukamura and Hicks (to name key pieces) on the defensive side of the ball and their replacements; KPL, Tolliver and to some degree Nichols have all stepped up and played pretty darn well. I am not sure if I am pro Cutler next year or Josh and a rookie to groom. In a perfect world, we would resign Culter for a reasonable price. My questions is with all the attention from other teams about going after Culter this offseason, What would have been the incentive for Culter to come back this year risking more injuries if we would have lost last night? Would he have played the I'm not 100% card to go into the FA period healthy?

We all see the Power Rankings year after year and think the media hates the Bears. I honestly think there is a bias because of the rug-burned knees while covering Farv and Erin for the past 20+ years. While the Power Rankings this year don't seem to tell a different tale, the point spreads do. So I saw a thread on Twitter on how SB winning teams have never had a QB that took more than 15% of the cap in any year to date. Which is odd considering most of the SBs were won by Brady, Roethlisberger, Mahomes, and Flacco over the last 20 years. So I looked back to year 2000 to see what were the top 10 teams in terms of winning pct, how many HC's they had, how many different leading QBs they had, playoff appearances, SB appearances, and SB wins. Ty Dunn wrote a 3 part article about 2024 Bears and it throws Caleb under the bus. I read where one coach that is quoted said this was not suppose to be public. The writer lied to get quotes. It makes Celeb look very bad. Throws Poles under the bus also. I have only seen some quotes and the article comes out Monday. My opinion is some things are true and some things are opinion. He made this a sensational article to get clicks. We have Ben Johnson now and everything is going well, I could care less what is true and not true. BJ came here because of Caleb and its all a new year , the sh+t show left last year with the coaches.

I was listening to a radio show this morning where they talked about the concept of going for the Best Athlete Available instead of necessarily the BPA. They were speaking about the "you can't teach height/weight/speed/etc." stuff, and said that instincts could be taught through repetition. What can't be taught, however, is a 4.4 forty when a guy has maxed out at 4.65 or something like that. You might be able to shave some time here and there, but ultimately that's his speed. Fit speed is Brandon Marshalls training facility...We all know Jeffery was going to be training with Marshall but I just wanted to point out that E-Rod and Armando Allen are also training there as well. (Didn't really know where to put this so why not a new thread?) It was noted that Marshall went from a 4.7 to a 4.4 40 in 8 weeks while training at Fit Speed. A boost in speed to all of those guys would be fantastic.

I expected a very physical Steelers team to show up tonight on both offense and defense, especially the defense. That's exactly what we got. We had the game in control until we hit their punter and that ended up giving them a TD a few plays later. Yet on the road where the momentum changed in the home team's favor the Bears responded on both defense and offense in the 4th quarter and that is what good teams do. It's not all perfect, we're still missing a pass rush and we gave up far too many big plays on D. The Oline must get better at run blocking. Our first draft pick in 2014 will likely be a DT. See article below. I got spammed for comparing Anthony Miller to a young Antonio Brown, but it's surprising more people have not seen the similarities. In a way, Miller is already ahead of Brown. Brown took 3 years to get to 7 TDs, Miller did it in his rookie year with a bum shoulder. Brown was not WR1 until his 4th season, so Miller still has time to get there. Robinson, Miller, and Wims are all 25 and under. That would be a great trio to ride on for the next decade.
