Watson vs Mahomes in KC. Watson wins the game but throws 2 INTs and 1 TD, but runs for 2 more. He ends up with a 77.5 QB Rating. Mahomes only has 54.3% Completion %, throws for 3 TDs, but also has 1 INT and 1 fumble lost. He ends up with a 96.5 QB Rating. Two of Mahomes' passes accounted for a 1/3 of his yards, so his remaining 17 completions went for 175. The biggest difference was Watson had a running game, Hyde had 26 carries for 116 yards. Neither QB had a 300-yard game, which is actually shocking based on their averages. KC has lost two straight at home; when is the last time that happened? Mahomes had a crazy throw deep into double coverag…

Looks like Gabriel, Nichols, and Larsen all practiced today. Trubisky threw and did not have a pitch count, so that's a good sign. Nagy didn't have much on Hicks, so I am assuming he is gone until mid-December at the earliest. Long definitely confirmed to be on IR for the season.

So you're saying there's a chance? Brees not playing, Kamara may be limited? Early line has us favored by 3, so we are even on a neutral site. For as good as NO's record is, they have been very inconsistent. The team has scored over 30 3x, and 13 or less 3x. No in-between. On defense, the same thing. They have allowed 24 or more 4 times and 10 or less twice. All 5 of their wins have been by a TD or less, so they are in close games all the time. Their point differential is only +6 in 6 games, which is fairly pedestrian. I think we rebound and come out of the bye with a win at home. We need this game a lot more than the Saints do. I am thinking the Bears 16-13.

In case anyone was curious, Titans QB Mariota was benched in favor of back-up (and former Miami starter) Ryan Tanehill yesterday. Many will say it was a lateral move and many would be right. But for me the interesting part is how similar Mariota and Trubisky are to one another. Not just by the 'eye test' but also statistically. Mariota started his career in 2015 (after being drafted in the first round that year and second overall....hmmmm). Overall his percentage completion rate (because I know we've used that as a measure in the past) is 62.2%. In 2015 he threw for 2818 yards with 19 TDs and 10 INTS. 2016 - 3426 yards with 26 TDs and 9 INTs. 2017 - 3232 yards w…

It looks like a dislocated patella, which may also mean a torn ligament (depending on severity). If the ligament is torn, it will require surgery as the knee cap will move around and be very unstable. If he has surgery, he will be out for 8-10 weeks at a minimum. If no torn ligament, he can come back with a brace in a few weeks. He was hurt on a simple QB sneak too, but he couldn't bend his leg. The Madden Curse is for real. You hate to see injuries to any player, but this actually hurts the Bears as KC plays GB next week, then MIN the following week. It is highly unlikely that Mahomes will play in either of those games, making KC pedestrian at best. On the oth…

Saw a story pop up on NFL.com from an analyst on Thursday night football suggested Chicago should make a trade for current Charger back Melvin Gordon. He made a compelling point about Gordon’s versatility (think similar to Forte and maybe older version of Montgomery). This guy seems to be alone in his thoughts on Gordon becoming a Bear (at least for now). In looking for some corroborating stories it appears there was some similar talk last July/August. Would it make sense financially to get a player like this? I could see the need solely at the position. If the Bears were intent on getting a new RB I’d personally like to see them go for a player like Kenyon Dra…

The Bears may not have a star at TE, but looking at the league the cupboard is bare, and production has been mediocre. Besides Travis Kelce, Hooper, or maybe Zach Ertz, has any TE been producing consistently? There has been a rash of injuries at the position too. This might be why the Bears have 7 TEs on the roster and practice squad. This makes me wonder if Pace has recieved any phone calls inquiring on the cost for one. Would a 4th or 5th for Shaheen be a good move or a 6th or 7th for Braunecker? Or holding on to these players be more beneficial?

They gave up picks to move up one spot and draft a QB no one thought was worth it. They could of had the pick of the litter at three. Have given up picks for Saheen, Montgomery, Miller, on and on. All were thought at the time to be good moves by Pace. But players drafted at all the positions have proven to be better. The off line is missing only one starter this year. The D is under performing the past three games. And they have no picks to replace all the underperforming players. I don't see any player to build this team around except perhaps Mack and for such a poor performing team is he worth keeping? Can anyone show me where we go from here? We we…

Roquan Smith (concern about is mental state, potential to be great or wash out) James Daniels (serviceable NFL player) Anthony Miller (can't run correct routes) Joel Iyiegbuniwe (no impact) Bilal Nichols (injured, but good player) Kylie Fitts (no impact) Javon Wims (not allowed to play, but looks promising) Mitchell Trubisky (?) Adam Shaheen (injury prone, potential to be serviceable) Eddie Jackson (home run) Tarik Cohen (above average in 2017/2018) Jordan Morgan (no impact) Leonard Floyd (serviceable NFL player) Cody Whitehair (serviceable NFL player) Jonathan Bullard (washout) Nick Kwiatkoski (serviceable NFL backup) Deon Bush (special teams/backup) Dei…

Ok, early in the 2nd quarter, the Bears have 1st and 10 on the Saints 24. #1. The Bears send Gabriel in motion and no one follows. Trubisky fakes handoff/RPO to Montgomery and immediately looks towards ARob. Massie blocks inside and Jordan is unblocked on the edge (play design?). Coward/Massie double team DT, Whitehair/Daniels double the other. Monty looks to be running between those two, but doesn't get the ball. #2. Trubisky still staring down ARob, Jordan stops to ensure Montgomery doesn't have ball, both Miller and Gabriel open. Gabriel has to be in Trubisky's field of view. #3. Trubisky hitches (horrible form) like he going to throw it to ARob …

I was thinking about this. Can you imagine Bill Belichick having a dance party in the locker room after regular season wins? How do you expect he would deal with players underperforming? Can you even imagine him calling only 7 run plays in a game? I was wondering about Nagy giving his playcalling duties over to the actual OC, and then he could focus on... what exactly... Team culture, birds eye view etc? If anything is true it's that our culture is not pushing these guys to play well. It's WAY too permissive. Pace has done a decent job stocking this roster. He missed on Trubisky. He's made some other bad calls too. But by and large, he has do…

Something I found thought provoking. If Vic Fangio were to be fired today, would you sacrifice Pagano to get Fangio back?

Check out the press conferences and locker room conversations the media had with the players and Nagy today: https://www.chicagobears.com/video/trubisky-we-all-know-what-we-re-capable-of Some things that stood out: 1. The players held an all-players meeting (first of it's kind under Nagy). Trubisky seemed pretty genuine and frustrated. He also hears the noise (media, fans, etc). Hopefully, that is something he can use for motivation going forward. He liked playing the underdog and no one believes in us thing last year. 2. Trubisky said "I am trying to be a pass-first guy" - this might be the most telling statement of the day. So he is clearly forcing himse…

The Chargers are 2-5, and are in worse shape than the Bears somehow. Keenan Allen DNP on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. McManis is the only Bear listed on report. Derwin James, like Hicks is out. This is a great game to get the running game going as the Chargers are 21st against the run. All of the Chargers losses (5) have been by a TD or less. I have very little faith in this team, but based on what I have seen from the news conferences and media interviews, the team finally seems to be pissed off. Hopefully, they take it out on the Chargers this week. I am predicting a dominant performance with a defensive TD. Bears roll 27-13

One glaring weakness in Trubisky's game is the lack of rushes. He has played in 5 games (4 full) and has 5 rushes for 21 yards. Chase Daniel has 6 rushes. Mike Davis has 9. He had 7 rushes for 32 yards against GB last year in one game. In his first 5 full games, he had 25 carries for 164 yards and 1 TD. He needs to run the ball. For QBR purposes, Trubisky has -0.9 running which is on par with Cousins, Keenum, and Winston. His overall QBR is 34.2 (50.0 is average QB). Last year Mitch had a QBR of 71.0, 3rd to only Mahomes and Brees. His Run QBR was a 22.1. Last year his passing was 43.1, this year it's down to 2.4. Dating back to last season, he has 9 straight re…

Here is a list of QBs selected in the top 10 since 2010 (19). Outside of Newton, Luck, Mahomes, and maybe Wentz, do any of these other guys strike you as 15-year franchise QBs? I know you can say the same about any position or pick in the top 10, but with all the scouting and analysis, it would seem like the QB position would be one of the easier ones to assess properly. 1. Murray - Rookie year, too soon to evaluate 1. Mayfield - Seems to be way overrated and too busy with commercials 3. Darnold - Was highly touted, but in Year 2 looks just as lost as Trubisky 7. Allen - A decent mobile QB, but how much better than Tyrod Taylor is he? 10. Rosen - hard to eva…

The trading deadline is on October 29th and the Bears have some tough decisions to make. They are 3-3 and I think the outcome of the Chargers game will determine which way they go at the deadline. They obviously have some needs and I could actually see them as buyers and sellers even if they win. If they lose, you have to think fire sale and clean up the cap while recouping picks. Right now they have a few candidates to be cut in the offseason to save money for next year. Those guys include Amukamara, Davis, Gabriel, Patterson, and Shaheen. They also have others who would become FA's in the offseason: Daniel, Sowell, RRH, Trevathan, Kwiatkoski, Lynch, and HHCD. …

Danny Trevathan has become my favorite players on the team, alongside Mack and Hicks of course. His silent leadership quality paired with his overall being a good man and player gives me confidence if anyone is going to will this team to do better it’s going to be because of someone like Trevathan. In my opinion, he should be a ‘Bear for life’. https://www.chicagobears.com/video/player-profile-danny-trevathan-x2579
