Any interest at vet minimum?

So after all of this talk in the offseason, we leave training camp without an answer. If you have two QB's, you have none. My gut tells me it will be Foles based on Nagy's comments. He keeps saying it will be a tough decision, but wouldn't naming Trubisky the starter in Year 4 be easy? So if it is a difficult decision, then it has to be Foles right? That seems logical to me because if they were that close throughout training camp, the no-brainer is to go with Trubisky. So I am saying it's Foles for Week 1. How about you?

Lions favored at home by a FG. Talk about a great game to bet on. The one team that Trubisky has dominated has been the Lions. I am surprised the Lions are favored by anything, but I suspect this line will crawl closer to even by game time. I say Bears 27-13.

Interesting to see who they cut for Edwards on the 53-man.

Would be huge to replace Goldman. That front 7 would be sick.

He is eligible to return in week 4 (I think) - Presume Santos will be kicking for us the 1st few weeks, unless they plan to sign someone else. Was interesting how they made all of these moves (cut Cairo but knowing Piniero was going to go on IR). Must have been a cap / flexibility reason for doing it the way they did.

Well, opening day happened, and Leno was the starting LT, so Stringer was right, he won the bet and I lost. I also think Leno played Ok today. He had a couple bad moments, but by and large, I give him a B. I'll still reserve judgement to see how he holds up against other pass rushers he will face, so as to whether I am right that he needed to go or was too hasty, I suppose that remains to be seen. I still get to complain about him if he sucks again LOL But today, he played OK, and Stinger was right, and won the bet.

Larry Wilson, DB for the St. Louis Cards died. I remember him as a solid player. About 30 years ago I sent him a card to be signed. He thanked me for being a BEAR fan and graciously gave me his signature. We went from being 3 point dogs to 5.5 favorites after Week 1. This is a game we have to win. The Steelers completely shut down Barkley (15 carries for 6 yards). They literally had 2x spies on him the entire game (and it worked). They made Jones beat them and he threw 2 INTs and was sacked 3 times. Slayton was their secret weapon with 2 TDs but the game was out of hand at 26-10, so one of those was in garbage time. On offense, it was clear that Castillo has influenced the O-Line. That is a good sign for some more consistency in the offense. If we can get the ground game going, play-action will be there with easy one read throws for Mitch. Daniels really stood out to me watching the game again. Nagy did a better job in play calling, but still needs better judgment in certain scenarios. Like before the half, we had yet to move the ball and you call a timeout when DET has the ball with a minute left, only to give the ball back to them with 45 seconds left and great field position. So here we are, Week 3, with one undefeated team and one winless team. Even with that, the 0-2 Falcons start as 3.5 favorites against the 2-0 Bears. That just shows the lack of confidence in the Bears right now. Who knows which Falcons team or Bears team will show up this week. The Bears have now held on to barely beat bad football teams with a ton of injuries. It feels like this is the first true test for the Bears. I know most media outlets had the Bears at 6-10 or 7-9 going into the season, but that is a tall task now with a 2-0 start. Things would have to really go south to end the season with anything less than 8 wins. That's good news. Despite being one of 11 2-0 teams, the Bears crack the top 15 in only two of the national power rankings I could find. NFL.com ranks the Bears 19th, USA Today 19th, Bleacher Report 18th, ESPN 17th, Yahoo Sports 15th, and SI.com ranks us 14th (the highest of the few I looked at). We are off to a good start to the 2020 season. However, we still have 4 GMs that have not paid their league dues yet. Leaguesafe imposes a $10 fee on late payments, so there is not much I can do there. https://leaguesafe.com/join/3948858 The updated deadline is now set to Sunday, September 27th. Below is a screenshot of the lowest separation of skill position players through 1st 2 weeks of the season (no qualifiers applied). Bears have 3 of the top 5. I don't know whether the QB decisions play into the separation or if this is a pure stat - but not even the best QB's can consistently deal with this many people NOT getting open. All of these parties need to step it up - the really scary one is Miller - he is supposed to be more electric at getting open; Robinson has always had less separation than the league but made up for it with fundamental awesomeness.

So I saw an idea that might actually get some legs involving Nick Foles in the next few weeks. Very hypothetical. If the Bears beat the Falcons this week and go to 3-0 behind Trubisky and the Eagles somehow lose to the Bengals to fall to 0-3 with Wentz, do you consider trading Foles to the Eagles if they come calling? I don't think it would ever happen, but just for the sake of the discussion, what would you want in return for Foles? We sent a 4th to JAX but there was no leverage either way at that point. So to me, he is worth at least a 3rd, if not more at this point to the Eagles. So I was thinking of a 3rd and a 6th. We don't have a 4th or 7th next year, so…
