Top 300 players, ranked by consensus: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSTYaxInC66nU_dSdw8HEMMI-n4Mh4WcaZDxVkEHw_8Mv2326DRo68HcVYuZL3zS7fv2PtZtCKE_7Fd/pubhtml Pretty sweet and updated regularly. It will come in handy on draft day. Interesting guys at 43 and 50: Laviska Shenault and Lloyd Cushenberry.

Trade back a 43 and hopefully get a second and third and Select a Wr, Safety, or workhorse back like Akers or Taylor? Thoughts?

Madness, to me this was all setup. Gronk retires, Brady doesn't return to NE. He has the pick of the league, picks TB, then after NE signs enough players that prevents them from taking on Gronk's contract, he magically unretires which forces NE's hand to make a trade immediately (they cannot go over the cap). To me, this seems way too convenient. Also, TB magically had enough to take on his contract.

I can't imagine anyone giving us anything for him even if the draft is relatively weak at TE. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2020/4/21/21229441/chicago-bears-report-adam-shaheen-on-the-trade-block-nfl-draft-2020-trey-burton-ryan-pace-tight-end

I listen to a ton of bears podcasts and read almost every article written on them , I'm bored, and so many of these bears people place CB as one of their important needs. A lot of them are mocking a CB either as the first or second pick. My logic tells me that the bears are going all in on winning this year. As I look at needs, I have to look at who is already on the team. Tolliver, Burns, Robinson Xavier Crawford, Denmark, Fuller, Joseph, McManis, Skine, and Shelly. They have a lot of capital invested in the position already. Knowing which ones are good or not are still a question but they have many options At S they have 5 , 1 star and a backup that…

Obviously this will be easier after Thursday night, but curious to hear what people are thinking/hearing/guessing. Bears figure to make at least one 2nd round pick Friday night, maybe two, maybe one 2nd and a 3rd, who knows? If you were betting, who are the five players you think the Bears are most likely to walk away with Friday night (not who do you want them to draft, but who do you think they will draft)? Mine: Jeremy Chinn, S, SIU Antoine Winfield Jr., S, MInnesota Cole Kmet, TE, Notre Dame (unfortunately) Robert Hunt, OL, Louisiana Michael Pittman, WR, USC

https://www.bigblueview.com/2020/1/19/21072940/2020-nfl-draft-prospects-profiling-the-players-you-need-to-know-about It's a NYG site but I love how they break down the players. Just found very interesting. Another way to waste a few hours in the day.

If this goes down I'll be LMAO. They could have just paid Mack. Not that I'm complaining because I still like having Mack. https://www.walterfootball.com/nflhotpress/article/Raiders,-Jaguars-Close-to-Ngakoue-Trade

We've drafted a CB who is going to immediately fit right into this backfield. He might not be the most athletic (maybe more quick than fast) but listen to Bryant McFadden talk about what he brings to the table. This kid will be playing early this season. This is the kind of CB you want playing behind a good pass rush.

So thru 3 rounds, this is what we are looking at: DET - Decent draft but missed opportunity to take Tua and/or trade Stafford, or trade down 1. Okudah, CB - basically replaces Slay, good for salary cap, but team really doesn't improve much. Highest DB ever selected, passed on Tua 2. Swift, RB - they already have KJ, so at most RBBC, they must be concerned about KJ's health. Good value pick 3. Okwara, Edge - Decent pick in the 3rd Round, brother is already on the team, reminds me a lot of Floyd, seems more comfortable as just a speed rusher. 4. Jackson, G - Interesting pick, Jackson had a 4th to 5th round grade from most sites, so Pick 75, 11th pick of the 3r…

Clearly from our first two picks Pace is drafting to win now. The reason I wanted to draft an OT high is for the same reason. For starters, teams that draft OL early and often generally have a good to great OL. We simply don't find enough time in that slot. Bobby Massie is reaching the age and attrition where he is going to miss games and/or fall off on production. (IE: last year) Then, we move to Charles Leno. Some say it was the wedding. Some say it's the baby. Fact is, he didn't put in the work and basically stole his paycheck last year. He is a marginal athlete which makes his dedication in the weight room essential. You can tell from many of his breakdo…

I'm surprised at how well he tracks the ball and then goes up after it. He's small like Gabriel but if he gets into his stride he's fast. As a late Rd pick he's a decent cheaper version of Hamler and in that context I like the value. The big difference is learning how to run routes in this offense.

I've liked him for many weeks and I'm glad we have him. I don't view him as a starter level player but he has enough ability that he might achieve that if he works hard enough. Given the poor depth we have at OLB he should see some snaps this year. NFL.com graded him as a potential future starter. The comp to RRH might be a realistic as he's not the fastest off the line. As we always say with Day 3 picks he'll need to get stronger to handle NFL OTs.

Khalil’s little brother Ladarius just signed as a UDFA. Hmm... I think my mood just lifted a bit. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/bears/ct-chicago-bears-khalil-mack-ladarius-nfl-draft-20200426-3ar3yu36vjebvisuid6ntfbaou-story.html

I would say they sign a few more UDFAs and then look for a vet S. I prefer Eric Reid but there are several good ones out there. Also Clayton Geathers has ties to Pagano when he was in Indy. Every year it's hard to cover all your weaknesses you have. They did bring back bring Bush and brought in the KC guy but still needs to bring one more vet in. Also they brought in 2 OLs but that's probably not enough. So 1 more OL and S and I think we're ready to go.
