From ESPN Chicago, Talking about the first series after halftime, after Knox returned it to the 8, Turner said, "On (the) second down play, his [Cutler's] primary receiver ran the wrong route," Turner said. "So he's [Cutler] looking for a guy that's supposed to be there, who would have been wide open, so then he gets sacked." Turner refused to identify the receiver in question. "It's easy to blame the quarterback, but everybody has to execute," Turner said. "That's kind of been the story. Especially in the red zone, we seem to botch base plays we've had in, and not give ourselves a chance." Turner has taken most of the blame for the offense, bu…

Just listened to an interview where Hub was asked, if the Bears wanted to get rid of Urlacher, what could they get in return. Hub said a 2nd, which surpised the radio guys. Hub reasoned that Urlacher is still a great athlete, and further said much of his downturn in play is believed to be, at least in part, due to his playing in a system that he has never been a great fit for. Hub talked about how Urlacher has never been a big fan of the cover two, and how it only got worse after Rivera left and Urlacher was pushed into more and more zone scheming. Hub said if Urlacher went to a team w/ a more creative DC (mentioned Pitt as an example) that he could again become …

We ain't winning any worthwhile games this year anyway. Fire Lovie now, send him a message loud and clear that his double-talking, lazy, easygoing crap is not welcome around here anymore. It would also be kinda funny to watch Babich squirm.

It's been rumored, but now it's pretty much a sure bet: Weis is gone This should be an easy one. 1. Fire Turner 1a. Punch him in the gut on the way out of Halas Hall 2. Contact Weis publicly 3. Hire Weis as "OC" (wink wink nudge nudge) 4. At the end of the season, fire Lovie 4a. If it costs too much, keep Lovie around but give the real power to Weis 5. At the end of the next season, fire Lovie 5a. Punch Lovie in the gut on the way out of Halas Hall 6. If the offense is doing well, and living up to expectation, promote Weis Easy.

Thanks to RockfordBears for the thought... Lovie Smith is Coach Dale The similarities are astounding. Neither has a clue how to adjust to any gametime situation. Both are stuck in "their system" so much that other concepts are an affront to their knowledge. In fact, they run their system to the fault of their team's talent. How else can we explain the fact that Coach Dale wanted to give the ball to someone other than Jimmy, who was shooting 98% throughout the playoffs? Speaking of that, both mismanage their players' talents. Much like Coach Dale, Lovie insists on forcing the square peg into the round hole, or maybe everyone else is wrong () about the cover-2 …

This was mentioned last night on Bears Blitz on Comcast after the game by John 'Moon' Mullins. He said that Cutler goes directly to Turner and basically ignores Hamilton. If this is true, I have several questions: - Why has Turner or Lovie not addressed this with Cutler? This disrespect should not be allowed to happen. - Why have Turner or Hamilton on the staff if they are not going to coach their players? - Why did it take this long for the media to point this out? - WTF is going on at Halas Hall? Peace

Signed a four-year, $40.975 million contract extension through 2013. The deal contains $15 million guaranteed, including a $5 million signing bonus and $18.939 million in performance-based escalators. $250,000 workout bonuses are available in each year. 2009: $550,000 (+ $5 million roster bonus), 2010: $750,000 (+ $5 million roster bonus), 2011: $1.5835 million, 2012: $1.646 million, 2013: $1,857,523 (+ $10 million "deescalating" roster bonus), 2014: Free Agent. Cap charge: $6,885,883 (2009). Does anyone know the details of the performance based escalators? Peace

Bears win 27-17 and extend the false hope another week. In reality, I would just like to see a well executed game, even if it is against the Rams.

I remember during the Vikings game Aikman mentioning that if the Bears had a few less turnovers (mainly INTs) in the close losses the Bears could've had 3 more wins than they currently have. I understand the what-ifs are BS, but....... Looking back at the games, Cutler had 4 INTs vs GB and we lost by 6. Against ATL, we had 2 INTs and a fumble and lost by 7. Against SF Cutler had 5 INTs and we lost by 4. I just wonder what the state of the team (mentality-wise) would be right now if we were sitting at 7-4 in the WC hunt. Regardless, it is amazing how a season can change so drastically from 2-3 plays in a few games.

  11. Chicago Bears football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach Lovie Smith immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the GOAL LINE. Practice resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again this season.

  12. http://mobile.suntimes.com/suntimes/db_215...AGc&src=cat The article lays out many reasons why the Bears need not consider "cleaning house" just to get another coach with a Super Bowl win in their pocket. I personally grow tired of those that want to get Cowher as if you put the record of Smith and Cowher side by side it really isn't all that different. Realistically, and as Bowlingtwig and a few others mentioned, Shannahan might be the better option. Mostly due to his familiarity to Cutler. And really that is what the Bears need to concern themselves with, making Cutler better and more comfortable. Would Weis be a good OC?? Most definitely. Would he come …

was the performence by the Bears bad enough to make the Bears fire Lovie? Or do we need to lose more to make this happen?

If Briggs is out for this game, and we play Cato June at WLB rather than Williams, I will be ticked. It isn't that I think June couldn't contribute. Heck, he may be better than Williams. But we are out of the playoff hunt, and we need to be looking at our young players wherever we can. Briggs injury gives us an opportunity to see what Williams can do. At this point, getting playing time for the younger players, and seeing if they have a future w/ the team, is a hell of a lot more important than any contribution a player like June, who is a stop gap fill in, could provide. If Williams can't handle the duties at WLB, then we need to know. I have no expect…

So I was just on the Bears website and happened to see a picture of Obama on the homepage wearing a Bears jacket. I completely forgot he was a Bears fan. Not trying to start anything political here, but maybe he could help the Bears decision to get a new coach for next season. I mean he has got to have some pull right? Maybe we should petition him instead of the Bears organization for a coaching change since they would discard the notion anyways. I mean if he can "pick" the final four why not have him suggest the Bears clean house. Just a random thought.

From the Audibles section which is supposedly a collection of quips from various coaches, scouts, and front office personnel speaking on the condition of anonymity. "Tommie Harris used to be one of the quickest defensive tackles in football. Now he is not quick and he has lost his strength. It's not a good combination. When he is caught - and he gets caught a lot more than he used to - he often gets buried, like he did against (Eagles OLT) Jason Peters." So, we're not the only ones who have noticed?

Three things that really stood out to me: 1. Paraphrasing, Jay basically said- "Brian never apologized to me" and he said it with a sarcastic chuckle. Does anyone think that this could have long term bad effects on this team? I know we're already heading in a downward spiral, but when your 2 faces of the franchise seem to not like one another, that just gets the spiral going even faster. While I agree that the 2 will never be on the field at the same time during the game, I just hate to see this especially when everything else is going wrong. 2. He also mentioned that it takes long for an offense to gel. He said it took 3+ years in Denver. Jay, I hate to be a d*…
