Ok, so I tried to obtain the current cap hits for 2013, project some other moves with estimated cap hits and I came up with this: http://www.pcgamingtech.net/bears/cap.htm Unless I am totally off, we would have 7 roster spots to fill and have spent around 123M. With the cap being around 121, and with us having around 3M carried over from last year, we should have around 124M to spend. With the rookie pool needing to be around 5M, it is hard to see us getting to 116-119M before the draft with only the rookies left to sign. Not a ton of news...Theres a good chance we draft a QB at some point. There are already teams wanting to trade up with us supposedly. They're still looking at Izzy and others to sign to the roster. They supposedly like Garza at OC. He was disappointed with the arrest of ERod.

Just seen an national article that stated THE BEARS PURSUE BYRD AND WARD. There was an article in the SunTimes by Jahns that stated the Bears might be interested in going after those two because we had bad safeties last year. So someone else uses that to write an article that states we are pursuing them. Rumors get started on opinions and then they become statements. It is all bull crap. Who are your picks for the superbowl? Call me crazy, but I see the Jags comming out on top of the AFC and the Cowboys winning the NFC. So I am going with the Jags over the Cowboys in the Superbowl.

Unfortunately, we can shelve that pipe-dream; Mike Martz just went to the Niners. Why is it that the Bears can never get an offensive coordinator who is capable of turning the offense into a weapon feared throughout the league? Oh, wait, we had that guy, and he just got done engineering a great game to win the BCS Championship last night. (Hate how un-Bearlike it may have been, and how it put the defense in bad shape at times, he made our offense a threat that it hasn't been since, and hadn't been for some time before.) Look forward to seeing Turner next year.

From PFT, Johnson also was on WSCR in Chicago, during which he said he'd make quarterbacks Rex Grossman or Kyle Orton into superstars. Johnson also said, "I've worked myself to a point to where I make the quarterback look good regardless of what he does or where he puts the ball." Not really that much to read into this as he has supposedly be pulling the same thing all over the place, trying to tie himself w/ any team that will listen. While I do not think this is actually a possibility, what do you all think about the idea. Frankly, it is similar to when there was talk of TO being moved. Trading for, or simply acquiring these prima dona WRs works out…
