Is anybody excited about Jeff Otah?
The other thing that might get me excited is if the Bears could move down a ways, pick up an extra pick early 2nd day, save a bit of money, and still wind up with a lineman like Otah, which is also entirely possible given rumors of his stock falling a bit.

I think in general, it's hard to get excited about an O-Lineman. He could be great and Benson could still decide that he stinks, ditto Grossman, etc.

The Roger Goodell thread
With the 51st pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins select Reggie Smith, S Oklahoma. With the 52nd pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Bucs select Patrick Lee, CB, Auburn. Drunkbomber and the Pittsburgh Steelers are now on the clock.

Jake Long #1
A lot of really great O-Linemen in this league weren't regarded as the best O-Lineman on draft day. The question you have to ask is...how good do you think the 2nd best lineman is going to be?

The Roger Goodell thread
Round 3 is posted. If anyone is hanging around who has the ability to update the first post in this thread and the first post in the Mel Kiper thread with the last few picks, it'd help me out a bit.

The Roger Goodell thread
Not yet. I can have it done by the end of the day today.

The Chris Berman thread
I have a feeling that if Mendenhall is available, the Bears will take him regardless of needs. I still think the right decision is best OL available in round 1, at least 2 OL before the end of round 4, and throw in a WR in round 2-3 if there's one available the team likes.

The Buffalo Bills select Tracy Porter, CB, Indiana.

The Roger Goodell thread
Nothing yet, although Hester said earlier that he would have some times where he couldn't reach his computer. I sent him a PM yesterday and haven't yet received a response.

Kenny Phillips was already drafted with pick 19 of the first round by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The John Clayton thread
The Bills are always interested in stockpiling picks. I'm listening?

Hester upset with contract
And so the public phase of the negotiations begin. After the last 2 years, the team knows darn well they can't lose Hester. Nothing but posturing here before they try to hit some serious negotiations on an extension between the draft and the deadline for this year's cap.

And now we will also begin the 2nd round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Miami is on the clock.

Malcom Kelly
He was potentially going to go as high as the Bills pick in the first if he had a better 40 time. I can certainly see where he'd fit in with the Bears, since I can't see where they have a big receiver anywhere. If they pick an O-Lineman in the first and Kelly falls to the 2nd, I think that would be a sensible pick that would make the team better for a while.

Locked the Kieper thread...
I haven't done the individual positions out of laziness, but if you look at the very top in the top 100 prospects list, you'll notice people are being struck through as they were picked.
-
The Chris Berman thread
Man, despite being what people would consider a weak WR class, the WR's are flying off the board this year in the first.
-
The Roger Goodell thread
Ok, with the 23rd pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh. The Tennessee Titans and ConnorBear are now on the clock.

The Roger Goodell thread
So do you want Otah or Williams? Both of them are available by my list.

Jake Long in talks with Fins
Nothing. But the general opinion on the site was that they didn't want a separate active thread for NFL news, they wanted just 1 NFL thread, and so this is it.

The Roger Goodell thread
K, anyone know where to find DrunkBomber?
-
The Chris Berman thread
The Broncos have really upgraded their offense in this mock. I'm just not sure how much anyone can count on their defense.

The Roger Goodell thread
The current draft order for round 2 of this draft has now been posted in post one of this thread, updated to include the most recent trade. Please let me know if I've missed anything.

The Roger Goodell thread
There has been a trade. The Denver Broncos have sent Pick #42 and Running Back Travis Henry to the Cincinnati Bengals for Wide Receiver Chad Johnson.

Saftey Zbikowski visits bears
Well, here's the question. Can we name any excellent safeties in the league who don't have "Top-end speed"? I'd imagine we could. How slow are we talking here?
