Baptism by fire... Someone on that damn D needs to step up. Briggs played well and all, but we were getting gouged in that game & games before he got hurt. Someone else needs to step up now. We will see if we have someone with potential to be a captain, or just bodies awaiting a leader. I thnk McCown will do OK. But, I think the Packers could set NFL records against our D.

All that's a given with ends, LB's, etc... I just want big beefy monsters in the middle. Other than the odd Tommie Harris or the odd Warren Sapp...big bodies seem to do the trick.

We should beat St Louis. GB, Det, and BAL will be tough.

Yup. An earth-shattering change needs to happen to the D or it's really going to be bad... Not sure where it has to happen...if it's on the players or the coaches. But it has to happen.

We should always be building... You make a lot of great points, but it's just too much to digest without knowing some of the exacts on injuries. The D is beyond poor. Not sure if anything really can be done at this point, but something tells me it can be salvaged. Give Steltz a chance at this point at minumum... Sell out on stopping the run. At least we'll only get burned on passing and not on both then... Something. We need to stop the bleeding.

Alex did prove his worth the past few seasons in SF...in fact, I know some of their fans that wished they kept him... Gannon was a fluke! It happens...just not very often.
