good point

The name alone makes the signing worthwhile...seem like he should be a Bear.
-
I'd rather use that money of the league minimum to donate to charity... He's not needed here at this point. We aren't loaded with loot. Every little bit counts at the moment. This would be frivilous. And would probably take away from Marshall...thus making it more possible of having him disgruntled. Simply not worth it on so many levels...
-
Good deal! Do you get paid for doing so?
-
Why don't we bring in Willie Gault? He's still really fast... This will not happen and is truly a waste of time pining for.
-
No. This isn't Madden...
-
The risk & return potential is quite good. We have paid virtually nothing for the guy...so really, how can anyone be anything but positive about it? This particular move needs to be judged seperately of how anyone feels about how Url was handled. With that said, and as you've said, it's good. Overwhelming support makes sense.

I think that simply says more about Brady than anything else...
-
Thanks for the info scs! Here's hoping for at least a solid contribution this season!
-
Thanks Pix. I found this regarding his draft... http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dspro...&genpos=OLB

Anyone have some hard insight on the guy? Is he fast? Is he a big hitter? Tackling machine? What were his troubles?

I really think we're on the same page. I wanted him back. But he's gone and I guess I'm trying to move on and see the logic behind it. (And/or rationalize it!) I too hope it's the right move. I think that's another reason I'm not as upset as some others. I WANT to think Emery and the rest are making the correct decisions. If they aren't, I'm going to be as bummed out as I was with JA. For now, they get the free pass! I hope Tucker runs circles around Marinelli and the lot. He probably won't...but I hope so. And if not, I hope he's good enough to compliment the other phases of the game w/o being a liability. So today, I think my cup runneth over...

Seems like an acceptable and cheap stop-gap.

Mgmt look like villains no matter what. Any time a fan favorite is not kept (no matter how), it reeks. Just as no one explained why getting rid of Ditka, Wilbur, etc.. wasn't maybe the right thing...you will not get any more explanation from mgmt about Urlacher. And for the most part, generic fans don't like ownership/mgmt no matter the facts right or wrong... Our record will honestly have more to do with what the offense does than what the defense doesn't. It's 2013, and the Bears are all in. Modern football dictates a strong offense. You hope the defense isn't a liability. We still have 5 pro bowl players (Peppy, Briggs, Peanet, Jennings, Melton...or am I wrong about Jennings? )on the D at very key positions. Some youth with big upside mixed in. The D may not be as great, but it should not be a liability.

Gotta think he'll join SF...

No one does anyone any favors. Hometown discount is simply a nice way of saying I'm willing to take a little less so I don't have to move my family, learn a new system, and lose any advertising deals...

Seems to me, the message boards and comments sections are divided...much like ours. Here's some on Yahoo... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown...23392--nfl.html Overall, I get a vibe that people are sad, would have preferred him to stay, but understand the need to move on. I am pretty much of that mindset. Others are obviously angry at the team or how it appears they handled it. Since only Url is talking, we assume his side of the story is correct.

Farewelll Mr. Hill...

1. Someone else will step up. Voids are usually filled. He was never a vocal leader. Maybe someone steps up and is an even better "leader". 2. Doubt it. We paid Bennett and Bushrod well. 3. Yes! This one you are right. You cannot deny his widom on the field. 5. Agreed. The regular fan who isn't die hard like most of here, just loves him and what he was. Without really knowinf much of his decline. I am sad and not happy either. But, I get it. 6. See #2. We pay. We just don't pay for again, injury prone guys. 7. Until all the $ shakes out with re-signings, more FA's and the draft, we won't really know what were good or bad investments. 8. It happens. All the time. To just about every team. You say Ray Lewis, I say Ed Reed. Wes Welker. Joe Montana. Johnny Unitas. Everyone gets over it eventually. 9. He is not bad. You are correct. He just isn't what he was. If Roach played there all year, would he have come close to those numbers? Who knows... Maybe the DL, and Briggs forced plays towards the MLB. NOt sure that is the case...but you are correct that he still has some value. The question is how much for how much? 10. Agreed. Maybe. Maybe they are flat out right. I tend to think the staff mentioned it in terms of pitch count. Url is old. Yes...he can play all 3 downs...but not every series for the whole game. Again, I agree he still has some value. Only time will tell if this move was bad... Right now, I honestly feel 50/50. I'm sad, I think he still had value...but maybe the team knows more than I about how healthy he is. Maybe they were willing for a good price to roll the dice. All I know is I will miss the old #54.
-
What a dumbass. So long Evan?
-
Bottom line... I will sorely miss the Uracher that was. I don't believe I will miss the one that will be... Much love Brian. You made us all so happy for over a dozen years. Thank you. You will always be a Bear. Our loyalty will just take a brief vacation if you choose to go elsewhere for a minute. Here's to # 54! As part of the remarkable linebacking legacy for the best franchise on earth! There were others before, there will be others after. But there never will be another quite like him. Bear down. Literally & figuratively...
-
Save it. Once he retires, it'll be a classic Bears jersey like Singletary, etc... The sooner he retires, the sooner you can return to wearing it.
-
Exactly... The Bears are like any organization...they have had good and bad days. But overall, they are a class organization.
