...GB gets the tie-breaker, but all the teams are logjammed at 1-1. We are in control of our own destiny. Learn and grow Bears. SF looks to be the class of the NFL. We need to figure out how to beat them.
-
Because the Bears are in Chicago simply makes them a better team to root for. History makes them the better franchise (removing the more SB victories than the Bears)... But right now, basically since Jay Cutler arrived and Aaron Rodgers took command, they have and currently are the better team. If we meet in Chicago and Chicago wins, I'll be shocked...and then would give thought that they are potentially equal. It would then depend on a potential playoff match-up for final determination. But, it could also mean Chicago got lucky out of 10 attempts at beating them. Hell, even AZ took out NE today. Sometimes the best teams don't win a particular game. But they do over a series of games and over the years. Until further notice, GB is better. I stand by that until proven otherwise. I wish as all hell that they weren't. But they are.

Well put.

Agreed.

The record again speaks for itself. Until we actually beat them, there is nothing that should make you think we are better. Disregard the "if's"... It's scoreboard. And they own us. I don't care what we've added or they've subtracted. As a whole, they are still besting us top to bottom.

Well said.

I'm sorry but the record speaks for itself. You can go an rationalized (like they did that the Giants and SF didn't beat them, they beat them)...but the fact of the matter is the best team usually wins. Maybe not in one particular game...but out of 9...I'd say that proves it. Their WR's dropped seemingly as many passes as us. Ran as many bad routes as us (ie. out pickoff). Had they held onto the balls, etc...it would have been a trouncing. Had they continued to run the ball, they'd have killed us. I respect your thoughts and support of Smith and the team. But I honestly can't see how anyone here can say that the Bears are a better team than the Packers other than in your heart. It doesn't make the Packers an less evil. They still are. But, until we start beating them on a regular basis...they are better. They sum of their parts continually outshine ours.

Point well made. However, I still would have liked a little more mea culpa from Cutler. Like, "I really want to apologize to the fans of Chicago. Despite what the circumstances were, I played poorly. I'm going to do everything I can to try to make sure that doesn't happen again. I will learn from my mistakes."

Alaska, the Packers are a better team. 8 out of 9 wins pretty much proves it. Until otherwise, you're just being too much of a fan and not seeing reality for what it is. (Note, that I mean team...coaching, talent and execution all combined)
-
The lack of running on first down is just stupid... Great rant!
-
Sadly, he gets it more than Cutler...
-
Agreed. He eeds to take some personal responsibility. Yup, it's a team game, but you still want your leader to accept more blame. Really same goes for Smith, but I have a better chance of winning the Lotto than hearing that.

How is this we all know this and the brilliant coaching staff appears not to? I heard where Smith wasn't pleased with the game plan. If so, why didn't he change it? I thought he was the head coach...
-
True enough... Actually, given our lack of any championships for 25+ years...it's where any position comes to die.
-
But let's be honest...our WR's were not good. Adding Marshall and Jeffery were good moves. You can argue that they should have been for OL's. But we were needing both spots. Maybe Emery is simply looking long term. Knowing he has to fix both, and knowing that the WR's can be had now, and the crop of young OL can be had next year. he made his choice. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit...or just rationalizing. But we were lacking both. The needs for the next few years are OL, LB and secondary. I'd like to see all those addressed in the next 2 drafts with OL addressed in both.

That's what a savvy QB does. Cutler isn't there yet. May never be...
-
I generally do agree. However, if I hadn't seen such poor play and mental errors from Webb before, I'd cut him more slack. Given what I heard of his off-season training...I do have questions about his desire. Garza pulled the same thing last week. It's OK once. But again? However, Cutler deserves all the flack he's getting. Sure, it it were Brady, it's just be, "What a competitor!" But given Cutler's history, he should know how his reactions will play.

It angers me because it's 100% correct. If you talk smack and you get smacked. Expect to get it back tenfold. The Packers, besides being raging a$$holes, are simply a significantly better organization top to bottom and will continue to beat and embarrass us until further notice. Deservingly, we again are the butt of all jokes for the nation to laugh at.
-
Not sure there's really been a split. I think most folks agreed it was both. And I don't think anyone here was happy that we didn't address OL in the offseason. I think some hoped it would work OK, like myself. Also, let's not forget that the play calling helped no one. It was one of the worst called games in recent memory. Where were the rollouts? Where were the quick passes? Where were the runs? All those things slow down a pass rush. But, with all that said, by all means are you you correct that OL is the big issue. Especially when it comes to beating good teams. I think we can shine the $hit well nough against bad or fair teams. But good teams kill us on the OL. We need OL and we need it now. Hopefully, we draft something next season... It may depend if Smith still has a stanglehold on the organization and demands a LB.

It just seems to me, the following are things are bad trends that seem to have no end in sight... 1. We can't beat Green Bay. One out of the 9 last attempts is beyond dismal 2. We have a hard time beating good teams. Seems like when we go against a really good team, we tend to play our worst. Whether is the Giants, SF, Green Bay, NE, NO...granted, most teams struggle against good teams. But good teams beat good teams often enough. We can beat up on the Colts, Vikings, Rams...but when it comes to a good team, I think our record is really awful. 3. We play poor at night it seems. We did win a couple last year. But damn if it just doesn't seem we play our absolute worst at night. And probably more often than not. I fear a loss to Dallas now on 10/1 in Dallas. Against the Lions on 10/22. Against the Texans on 11/11. Against SF on 11/19. I'm preparing for all losses. I see the season playing out as such... IND - W GB - L ******* STL - W DAL - L JAC- W DET (night) - L CAR - W TEN - W HOU - L SF - L MIN - W SEA - W MIN - W GB (can't beat them) - L AZ - W DET (road) - L 9-7, potential wild card
