2011 Official TalkBears Fantasy Football Check-in
madlithuanian replied to DrunkBomber's topic in Bearstalk
Thanks! Right now, I'd like to say I'm keeping Percy Harvin. i think I drafted him in the 5th...so I'll be losing a 4th. Do I have to lock into this right now? -
Dang! I probably should! I guess a broken clock is right twice a day!

From what you tell me, your plan sounds reasonable! Plus take what I say with a grain of salt! I finished last in the TalkBears keeper league last year!

Drunk, Can you recall who I kep as my keeper last year? -
The only real way to figure out league are to play in it. So, your first year you should always see it as a trial and error period. Just be dilligent innoting what you did. This will come in handy if you see certain successes or failures. You then should adjust accordingly the following season. Generally speaking, your league looks pretty standard. Your thoughts of going RB, WB, WR, etc...are what most usually do. Most leagues are RB driven. However, with more and more teams splitting carries or having a goal line back, the position has been thinned out over the years. There are only a handful of guys that get both opportunities. Those are the guys you need to highlight and try to get early. Usualy you can pick up a decent QB after the first round. Then a decent WR in the 3rd. From there, it reallly amounts to some luck in finding diamonds in the rough. I hope that helps some...

Well, no matter what we all think of Webb...that's not good. But it now may force a play from JA to bring someone in... He was marked for either L or R T.
-
That's still too low of a % of winning SB teams I thihnk. And you could say that 2005 shouldn't be on that list, since being in the top 10 would mean they were a pretty decent O. You could almost say the same of Baltimore since theey were in the top half...
-
Cue up that image of JA just helping the D while praying the O will just be dandy!

Interesting thought...

Shotgun theory... Fire away and you'll hit something. Plus depth...

I just read on PFT that SF declined the offer...or is denying it happened. They are speculating they don't want to deal with Chicago after the Briggs issue and that the other whining Harbuagh in Baltiless still has his panties in a bunch over the draft trade and is sending bad vibes to his brother about us. I'd love to look at the kid. I really wanted him in the draft and felt we had no chance to get him...
-
I may too! My wife says I'm too sendentary, so getting up and moving around besides to go get another beer is probably a good thing!
-
I love it! Sounds right out of Animal House! "They can't make fun of our pledges...only we can make fun of our pledges!"

True...unfair comparison to Rice, etc.. However, I'd expect a little better conditioning from a pro, don't you? He's not a beefy lineman. He's a speedy WR. There are certain things you simply expect guys to be on top of.

Welcome board InfyF! As long as JA is picking, I'm not sure I'd ever give a way a bird in hand for a pick in the bush...

Jimmy Mac to sue NFL over concussions...

Very true... Risk adverse is not something I'd say Jimmy was... -
Jimmy Mac to sue NFL over concussions...
madlithuanian replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
I can't say for sure...but this seems more like the idea of putting the issue in the forefront than for Jimmy to get some loot from the NFL. It could be both. But, if this sheds some more light on matters and attempts are made for better equipment,etc...then it could be a good thing. -

And But-head! -
I bascially agree. I still contend that it's the NFL's party, and whoever gets invited needs to adhere to the invitation. I'm disappointed that there seems to be a double standard regarding their dealings with coaches...like Peter Caroll for one... I think they should implement similar for coaches that resign and run to the NFL for gigs when getting nabbed in similar fashion.

You basically agree with what I said, but put more sugar coating on it!

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...er-concussions/ Jim McMahon sues the NFL over concussions Posted by Michael David Smith on August 18, 2011, 6:34 PM EDT Getty ImagesJim McMahon is one of seven former players suing the NFL over health problems that they say are the result of concussions and other brain injuries they suffered on the field. McMahon, the Bears’ quarterback in their Super Bowl-winning 1985 season, joins a group of players saying that the NFL was negligent and that players have suffered from headaches, dizziness and dementia because of injuries suffered on the field. “The purpose of this lawsuit is to obtain proper funding to address these horrible long-term issues and to compel the NFL to establish a medical monitoring system to reduce the risk that current and future players will end up with the same kind of chronic mental and physical problems,” the plaintiffs said in a joint statement. McMahon revealed last year that he is suffering from memory loss. He said that when he was playing, teams didn’t care if players suffered concussions. “Back then, it was just tape an aspirin to your helmet and you go back in,” McMahon said. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Associated Press that the league will vigorously contest the claims. The other former players involved in the suit are Ray Easterling, Wayne Radloff, Gerry Feehery, Joe Thomas, Mike Furrey and Steve Kiner. In July, a separate group of dozens of former NFL players announced that they were filing their own lawsuit against the NFL over concussions.
