  1. Yes. Isn't Bradford younger and not a bad rep?
  2. Here's more on that... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/...l-hard-to-move/ Age, contract, production, reputation make Marshall hard to move Posted by Michael David Smith on March 5, 2015, 3:19 PM EST Brandon Marshall AP The Bears are trying to trade wide receiver Brandon Marshall. That won’t be easy. Although Marshall is a five-time Pro Bowler, what he’s done in the past isn’t particularly relevant to what a team would be willing to give up for him now. What’s relevant is that Marshall’s production is declining with age, that he has an expensive contract, and that his reputation around the NFL is less than sterling. Marshall will turn 31 this month, and last season he had his worst season since his rookie year. Marshall caught just 61 passes for 721 yards before suffering a season-ending injury in the 13th game of the season. That’s a sharp decline in production for a guy who had entered 2014 on a streak of seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Like most players, Marshall has slowed down after his 30th birthday. Another issue is Marshall’s contract, with a $7.5 million guarantee that comes due on March 12. Any team trading for Marshall would be inheriting that contract, unless Marshall is willing to restructure his deal. Marshall’s cap hit for 2015 is $9,575,000, which is the 16th biggest cap hit for a wide receiver in the NFL. If you’re going to pay a guy Top 16 money, that means you think he’s an above-average No. 1 receiver. Marshall has been an above-average No. 1 receiver in the past, but he’s not anymore. There are also off-field questions that any team mulling a trade for Marshall would have to consider. Those issues go beyond the legal trouble Marshall faced multiple times early in his career: Marshall has spoken openly about his battle with mental illness, and he deserves credit for seeking treatment. But even if Marshall is now avoiding legal problems, there have been more recent reports that Marshall was a negative presence in the Bears’ locker room last season. Marshall has a reputation as a malcontent, and that’s not the kind of locker room presence teams want to acquire. Add it all up, and it’s hard to see any team trading for Marshall. If the Bears don’t want him, they may have to cut him.
  3. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/...andon-marshall/ Bears “exploring trade options” for wide receiver Brandon Marshall Posted by Darin Gantt on March 5, 2015, 11:32 AM EST Brandon Marshall AP ‘Tis the season for moving on from bad contracts, and the Bears are no exception. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears are “exploring trade options” for veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Whether they’re merely answering the phone, or putting out word in hopes of making it ring remains to be seen, but it’s clear there’s some disconnect between the new regime of General Manager Ryan Pace/coach John Fox and the guy who got an extension from the previous administration last offseason. If Marshall is still on the Bears roster on March 12, his $7.5 million in base salary is guaranteed. The Bears got Marshall for a pair of third-round picks in 2012, and would certainly be looking for less than that now, to get out from under the contract. It’s not that Marshall’s not been productive when well, but his media schedule and a few outbursts with teammates have made him the kind of guy new coaches are wary of.
  4. I'd pass due to age and wear & tear.
  5. Possible, but I'm not sure a guy would risk his writing career over comments about Cutler that seem like old news... This writer isn't a blog runner trying to get a job. He's already paid by ESPN. I dont find anything in the article really new or different, but I doubt he's making it up or emelishing much. Every story has a lean toward a certain point or bias no matter what. This one is no different. We see this happen in the realm of politics all the time. As much as we want to poo poo the quality level of his former coaches...sadly we don't have many others to talk to. Other than his time in Denver...and possibly Martz. Most are loacking. DOn't get me wrong Pix, I don't make much of this. But, I just don't see the writer making things up or sources revealing themnselves.
  6. I'd tend to agree. Plus it brings in a guy who's worked with the coaching staff that can instill some discipline.
  7. I understand us fans wanting to see who is saying what, but if I were their agent, I'd make sure to tell them not to put their name to it. It simply does them no good. Some may be coaching elsewhere and some may want to coach down the road. So, comments such as these aren't helpful to one's career. It'ss the writer wanting to get a story and digging up dirt. I feel like Saul Goodman here! I'm defending guys I really don't want to defend. But, I understand why they are not attaching their names.
  8. I agree with that... I just don't see it happening. Stranger things have happened, but I think we know the devil we know and have by now...
  9. As much as we'd like that as a fan base. No player or coach wants that scrutiny. Just look at what happened with Kromer... Nothing said in this article should surprise anyone. And even though these sources don't give their names...much of what they say virtually everyone agrees upon to some extent large or small. All that said, I fully trust with the team does at this point.
  10. Win (the big one) with him. Trading is decently possible.
  11. Yeah, honestly nothing new in that blurb. I think some other QB's would have handled the adversity better sadly...
  12. A whole lot of Jay Cutler’s ex-coaches are ripping him, anonymously http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/...im-anonymously/ http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...with-jay-cutler Posted by Michael David Smith on March 4, 2015, 2:29 PM EST Jay Cutler AP Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has rubbed a lot of his coaches the wrong way during his time in Chicago, and now they’re ripping him in the media — but not putting their names behind their criticism. ESPN cites “at least 10 former Chicago Bears staffers from the Lovie Smith and Marc Trestman regimes” who say they don’t think the Bears can contend for a title with Cutler as the quarterback. None of those “at least 10″ are mentioned by name. In addition, two teammates, also speaking anonymously, say they’d rather not keep playing with Cutler. The reasons for all the animosity toward Cutler seem to stem from his personality, as those who have worked with him say he lacks leadership qualities and is not a positive presence in the Bears’ locker room. There’s also talk that he didn’t run the offense the way the coaches wanted, and that in hindsight some people within the organization think Cutler should have lost his starting job to Josh McCown in 2013. Of course, that hindsight is diametrically opposed to what everyone was saying at the time: The Bears’ coaches and executives said in 2013 that Cutler was clearly the right man for the job, which was why they gave him a huge contract extension. Now that huge contract is a millstone around the Bears’ necks. It won’t be easy for the Bears to move on from Cutler any time soon, as his $15.5 million 2015 base salary is fully guaranteed, and $10 million of his $16 million 2016 base salary becomes fully guaranteed if he’s still on the Bears’ roster a week from now. New Bears General Manager Ryan Pace and coach John Fox haven’t committed to Cutler as their starting quarterback, but realistically, if he’s still on the team in a week, the Bears are probably stuck with him not just for this year, but for next year as well. Even if those who know Cutler best don’t think highly of him, he’s probably not going anywhere.
