CHICAGO – Chicago Bears rookie middle linebacker Jon Bostic is apparently lighter in the wallet after the crushing preseason hit he put on San Diego Chargers wide receiver Mike Willie last week at Soldier Field. Bears' starting weakside linebacker Lance Briggs tweeted on Wednesday morning from his Twitter account (@LanceBriggs), “Shaking my head moment. NFL fines Jon Bostic 21K for his clean hit against the Chargers.” Briggs went on to Tweet, “Bostic's s hit illegal. Hit on Dustin Keller. Legal.” Keller, a tight end for the Miami Dolphins, suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason on a low tackle by Houston Texans safety D.J. Swearinger. The hit is legal by NFL standards. Bostic’s targeted Willie’s chest region on a short pass to the right on the third play of the third quarter that was ruled incomplete last week in the Bears’ 33-28 victory over the Chargers. Bostic was not flagged on the play. The rookie out of Florida is scheduled to earn a $405,000 base salary in 2013 in addition to a $1,246,036 signing bonus. He can appeal the fine. Bostic has been working as the Bears’ No. 1 middle linebacker since veteran D.J. Williams suffered a calf injury at the beginning of training camp.

Just heard on Mike and Mike that Bostic was fined for the big hit last week. Wtf? that was a legal hit, Goodell is ruining the sport.

"They were fired up; they were excited to be out there," Cutler said of the rookie linemen. "Keep going with those guys and (offensive coordinator/line coach Aaron) Kromer will coach them up. There are some corrections to be made. But I was at ease having them in there, which is nice." Looking like Cutler is in both the rookies corner and that is good. It is nice when the starting QB is excited about , and confortable with the people that are paid to keep him upright!

Well the reason he was on an island in that game was that Carimi was just as bad so it was a race to the QB and therefore they had to try to get Carimi help as well as at that point he couldn't stop anything and was getting bull rushed into the QB. Pretty sure they had max protect going most of the time towards the end of the season, as was pointed out by a few people on here in the I love Webb posts from then.
-
Would also like to know how many games they were in max protection during Webb's all universe Tackle play.

I noticed the rookie LB Greene #60 was alot of times being blocked out of plays and had a hard time shedding blockers. He also took a few bad angles, BUT he seemed to be in the picture in most plays around the line. What was everyone else's take on him?

BOURBONNIAS, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears' depleted defensive line absorbed another hit Thursday when defensive end Corey Wootton left the field before the conclusion of practice due to a hip injury. Wootton is scheduled to undergo an MRI and is considered day-to-day, according to Bears coach Marc Trestman. ESPNChicago.com Bears blog Get the latest from ESPN Chicago. Bears blog » Greatest Bears | Urlacher's career "He's got a ding in his hip," Trestman said. "We don't believe it's serious." Wootton had a difficult time staying healthy his first two seasons in the NFL but had a breakout year in 2012 when he recorded 7.0 sacks. The former fourth-round draft choice out of Northwestern had been having an excellent start to camp, solidifying himself in the starting rotation at defensive end, while also lining up inside at defensive tackle in the defense's nickel package. "It definitely is a different feel going into camp," Wootton said last week. "I didn't know if I was going to make the team or not (last year). A lot of people were saying I was going to get cut. I really knew I had to prove myself. This year I approach it the same way. I've got to prove myself all over again, because every year in this league it doesn't matter what you did the year before, it's (what you are doing) currently. I'm just trying to improve, work every day and get better." Wootton became the third defensive lineman to suffer an injury since the Bears arrived at camp nine days ago. The club terminated the contract of veteran Turk McBride after he ruptured his Achilles tendon on Monday in just the second practice of camp conducted in full pads. Jamaal Anderson sat out Thursday due a sore knee. The Bears also lost defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis at the start of camp when he decided to retire instead of report to Bourbonnais. "We just have to get guys healthy," Bears defensive end Julius Peppers said. "It's early in camp so fortunately we've got a little time to get them healed up and back. We are going to need all of them." In other injury news, left tackle Jermon Bushrod (calf), offensive tackle Jonathan Scott (knee) and linebacker Lance Briggs (rest) all missed Thursdays workout. Linebacker D.J. Williams (calf) did not practice and wore a walking boot. Pro Bowl cornerback Tim Jennings was excused for a second consecutive day to tend to personal matters.

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Chicago Bears defensive end Corey Wootton left practice Thursday with a hip injury and is being evaluated. Going into his fourth season, Wootton had seven sacks in 16 games last year. wft is going on with all the injuries? They all need a shot of penicillin to get rid of that injury bug that is hanging in the air at training camp.

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- New Chicago Bears linebacker D.J. Williams was carted off the practice field with an undisclosed injury during a busy Wednesday morning practice. Among the other news and notes from Wednesday: • Cornerback Tim Jennings was not at practice for an undisclosed reason. Zack Bowman took first-team reps in his place. • Receiver Brandon Marshall and defensive end Cheta Ozougwu returned to practice after sitting out Monday. • Starting left tackle Jermon Bushrod did not practice two days after suffering a right calf strain. He was seen Wednesday in a walking boot. Cory Brandon and Eben Britton took reps in his place at left tackle. • The Bears signed defensive lineman Josh Williams to a three-year contract to replace the injured Turk McBride, who was lost for the season Monday with a ruptured Achilles tendon. Williams, an undrafted free agent out of Kansas, attended the Bears rookie minicamp. The Bears terminated the contract of McBride and he received an injury settlement. • Offensive lineman Jonathan Scott got banged up at practice and was seen watching practice with hisright knee taped up. Check back for updates on all these stories throughout the day. ESPNChicago.com's Jeff Dickerson contributed to this report.

Bears | J'Marcus Webb certainty for RT? Fri, 14 Jun 2013 19:46:15 -0700 Chicago Bears OT J'Marcus Webb is the team's starting right tackle, and it is unlikely he will be pushed much for the job unless he has an absolutely awful training camp and preseason. Read more: http://www.kffl.com/team/11/nfl/chicago-bears#ixzz2WU8MKmAU Really? This guy was one of the worst if not the worst offensive lineman in the NFL and he gets ANOTHER free pass? I sure hope this isn't true and they are just throwing stuff against the wall to make a "story" during the slowtime before training camp.
