    Thank god

He has lost part of this team no matter what Urlacher and others may say. The biggest glaring comment that he has made most recently that if I was Phil Emery I would have s$*t canned Smith's A$$ was two week ago. How anyone is able to dismiss a game against the freakin cheese heads saying that it was not a must win game should instantly be fired. If we got 2-14 and the two wins are against the freakin cheese heads, to a degree it is a successful season. To have two seasons in a row that the team started out 7-1 or as it was I believe stated in the Tribune, that in 2011 & 2012 going 14-4 and then collapsing to miss the playoffs both years should be more than enough to have Smith fired. We'll see how much power and how big Emery's balls are very quickly. Smith needs and should be fired however, I am inclined to agree with most everyone in that Smith unfortunately will be back for another year. If I was in charge, Smith would have been canned on December 17th at the latest with either Tice or Marinelli finishing out the season and now that it is done, the rest of the staff would be shown the door. God help us all until Virginia passes and we ideally get a new owner who may get it better than Papa Bear's family attempts to at this point.
  2. I like Patrick Mannelly and glad that we will have him for another year. I feel he is still one of the best long snappers in the league.
  3. Lucky, I am so with you on this completely. I believe I have stated on this board many times that the McCaskey family is destroying Papa Bear's legacy. I am able to understand that Virginia is the lone surviving child of Papa Bear however, Mickey is a Ivy League guy who has no clue about running a professional football franchise. Hell, I even sent a letter to Mickey when Curtis Enis was drafted to that effect. Keeping Ted Philips (An Accountant) as the President of this franchise is a joke. Philips as well is not a football guy. The family does need to figure out how to sell the team prior to Virginia's passing as Connor is stating, and get a true football organization in charge of the team and keep Virginia on board in some very minor capacity to still represent the Halas family. The organization does need a complete overhaul and as the saying does say, "$h*t Does Run Down Hill & It Starts At The Top!!!!" the sooner someone who understands all aspects of the game of football, the better off this franchise will be. If it was up to me instead of Emery, I would have fired Smith at least 3-4 years ago and after the way this team is flopping once again, should be escorted out the door, let either Marinelli or Tice finish the season and fire the rest of the coaching staff after getting back from Detroit. Still not sure who to bring it however, Smith needs to go especially after the comment that a game against the F@CKING PACKERS was not a must win, then Smith really does not get how much this rivalry matters to the fans and how deep the hatred goes. If we go 2-14 every year with two victories being against the Cheese Heads, I would consider it a some what successful season. GOOD BYE SMITH and do not let the door hit you on the A$$ on the way out.
  4. Some interesting choices here however, I am hesitant on a few. I believe Gilbride did not do well as a head coach with a 6-16 which tells me that Gilbridge is a good coordinator however, not so good as a head coach. Capers is another coach who is good as a coordinator however, failed as a head coach with a 49-81 record including 1-1 in the post season. Saban was 15-17 with Miami who we all know have had problems for quite a while down there in Florida however, Saban bailed out and returned to the college ranks as he apparently could not handle the pressures of the NFL. Riley is another one who did not fare to well in the NFL with a record of 14-34. I am just not sure that I would want these retreads who did not have success and not sure even now that they would. Others have replied having Andy Reid come over from Philadelphia however, I do not think Reid is the answer at this point with how things are imploding with the Eagles. Who is the answer in my opinion, I am really not aure however a change is definitely needed as it appears that Smith is getting further and further away from reality of what is happening this season as he did not feel that this past game against the Cheese Heads was not a must win. Huge game against your most hated/storied rival and it is not important is just completely wrong way to look at a match up against that team ever. My wife told me something that I had totally forgotten about, if you are a good or great head coach any lose should be aggravating and make you want to figure out what the mistakes were and correct them and loses should never be acceptable in any fashion. Smith as basically dismissed poor play, whether in victories or losses by saying that we are not where we want to be etc. We're now preparing for the fifteenth game of the season and not where we want to be or what ever, WTF are you waiting for Smith??????!!!!!! Emery needs to convince the family that a full coaching staff change is needed to hopefully and finally get it right to make this team more competitive.
  5. At this point Connor, I feel that is totally irrelevant in regards to the Super Bowl appearance. I think at this point it was a total fluke and the last time Smith's team made the playoffs some how, we lost the NFC Championship at home against the Cheese Heads which should never be acceptable. I do remember that Cutler was knocked out of the game however, losing to the Cheese Heads is never acceptable what so ever. Wish that Papa Bear had never bailed them out to keep them around to play against. I am hating that team more and more and losing as many times now against Aaron Rodgers (yes Rodgers is an outstanding QB) is starting to look like losing to #4 once again. We need to get better coaches in place and at this point I am scared how bad we will be exposed for our weaknesses and how badly we are going to lose to our #1 rival once again. So any comparison to Wayne Fontes is totally acceptable. BYE BYE LOVIE!!!! DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON THE ASS AS YOU LEAVE!!!! You may have been something at one point however, now you need to just go away.

    Gould IR'd

First reaction that I had when I saw this info a little while ago is that the organization is throwing in the towel on the season at this point. If Gould is really that injured, disclose to the fans what is happening versus living in secrecy. Disclosure is the best policy when the franchise continues to struggle collectively overall. So far Lovie Smith has had what four OCs in nine years, a couple different DCs as well and is still here? Jerry Angelo finally got his walking papers last season and I am not in a rush to get rid of Emery at this point as he has only had one season to mold this team to what he believes will be a successful solution to the situation. Three games left against two divisional foes plus a former Chicago based team does not look completely promising especially when the coaching staff seems to continue to be inept at preparation and taking into consideration that "Any team is able to win on any given Sunday" does not bode well. The sooner 2012 is over for this team and we move onto hopefully a better tomorrow the happier I will be. Do not allow injuries to cloud the judgment of who needs to go at this point. If I could afford it, I would have already bought www.fireloviesmith.com and probably a few more as well.
  7. Totally agree with you on this to a degree. Not completely sure on the offense not being of some blame except for Cutler and maybe Marshall as well. To many dropped passes, no running game initially so to speak and let's not mention how bad the play calling was as well. 4th and 1 roughly without a conversion is not acceptable ever. Defense again got beat up pretty well by a rookie who some how picked apart to a degree the Cover-2 or what ever it was Smith was supposedly having his team run on defense. Losing Jennings hurt as well however. dump personal fouls and such and according to some after the game, they were not prepared once again. That definitely falls on Smith and his so called staff.
  8. I appreciate that the league is at least supposedly fining the offending players however, $21k is really not much in regards to what Allen or even Suh are making a this point. They really need to do something more to really send a message. I do not think Goodell is strong enough on this, granted he is doing more apparently than Taglibue supposedly did however, still to many things happening that are not good. I even get more mad when Da' Bears commit dumb penalties that are similar and I can not explain how mad I get when I see it in college ball. To many serious injuries so far, too many deaths and yet the NFL says that they are trying to change somethings and protect the players more. This small amount for the fine proves that NFL is still to far out of touch with reality and what is happening. A statement needs to be made far better that $35k for a stomp to the groin or $21k for launching yourself and knocking out an opponent for the season.
  9. It seems interesting that this is coming about today after I read Matt Bowen's article that is also on the Tribune's website talking about toughness on a team. This shows how soft Rachal is and that IMHO is not a real football player. A real football player who is tough as Matt Bowen talks about, would get pissed and spend more time studying film, learning better technique and lifting weights to help improve and fight to get his job back. This team does not need malcontents like this on the team especially since his actions prove that Rachal is soft. Hey Rachal, don't let the door hit you on the arse on your way out and best of luck to you in finding a life as your football career just imploded.
  10. It is interesting that this team was under prepared once again. Granted they are 7-3 however, last night's loss was embarrassing once again in front of a National audience. Sound familiar for one of the other two losses? It should as the team laid an egg at Green Bay on the big stage of the Thursday Night NFL Network against a divisional foe. I can not blame Emery at this point as he just started after replacing Angelo. The team beat some ok teams and struggled against other teams that should have been larger wins, specifically Carolina. Without making at least the NFC Championship or even better the Super Bowl and truthfully winning it all should not be acceptable. I also agree that it seems odd that other teams will get rid of head coaches after having a second OC and the Bears keep one who is on his fourth OC. I am not convinced that the Cover-2/Tampa-2 is all that great and how the "D" pulled off what they did prior to the Houston game excluding the game against the Cheese Heads is beyond me. To many problems still and someone's head really needs to roll.
  11. I have to agree with most everyone here in regards to Url and Hester for the 2013 season. Money is a factor with the salary cap and what teams are able to pay players. I truthfully am able to see Url giving the "Hometown" discount to stay and finish his career in Chicago. As someone else stated, Url does make pretty good money for his endorsements and I believe that Url wants to be mentioned post-career in the same context as Butkus and Singletary. Hester on the other hand may choose to leave and see how much more he maybe able to earn. The hard part for Hester in my view is that another team may truly believe that Hester is only a great return guy and not the WR that the Bears keep believing that Hester can be. It is going to be a interesting off season and we'll see what type of magic that Phil Emery is able to work to get everything done that still needs to be accomplished to continue to improve this team. Changes definitely are long past due as we have all talked about in regards to the offensive line. We have a franchise QB, RB and WR in place and need better pieces to the puzzle for TE and the entire OL.
  12. Again, I totally agree with you. As much as I was upset at the action as it was unfolding on National TV, the bigger issue does have to fall on the coaching staff from Lovie Smith down. The one crucial thing that continues to bug me about Smith's coaching is that it is becoming more and more inconsistant. How else do you explain the so called effort that was happening on Thursday night. I also know that there are a lot of people who on killing Cutler and from the headline on the Trib's website, I agree that Cutler is very immature and needs in my opinion some serious psychological counseling to hopefully get through to Cutler. That truthfully though is totally another huge pandora's box I am sure. I thought Smith was a good hire initially however, as it continues on, I am so looking forward to when he is truthfully shown the door with a thank you for trying. I do not think Smith is that good as a head coach and I really now hate the Tampa 2.
  13. Will see how it all plays out however, two games in and he is definitely playing even better than I am able to remember him playing and I thought he was half way decent. Hope it some how continues all season. The other question I would have to go back and research about is whether or not this is a contract year for Jennings.
  14. With the way the team is playing and has played I would have to agree with you Mad. The additional problem as well is the lack of talent on the offensive line and truthfully as much as I thought Lovie Smith was a good hire initially, the way this team continues to be inconsistent proves otherwise. Heck, I am even questioning Dave Toub as a Special Teams guru. Yes I agree that Toub does not have the personnel that was there in the past yet, it just seems that something has been missing the last couple of seasons in regards to coverages. I still think Gould is one of the best kickers in the NFL today and Podlesh seems to be a pretty good punter. I am not sure that 9-7 will even be good enough to get into the playoffs this season. Looking at the NFC as to who I think will make it at this point, I would have to say Green Bay (as much as I hate to) San Francisco, Atlanta and probably the Giants as division winners. The wild card teams may be Dallas, Washington, Detroit with being real close and needing a break here or there; Chicago, Tampa, Philadelphia and maybe New Orleans. Until the Bears show a bit more and I understand about Prime Time games for the Bears yet, I still am smarting from the colossal egg from the "O" and some of the "D" and Special Teams the other night. Time will tell for sure however, I think it is time to be ado to Lovie Smith and Company.
  15. Mongo, Good review of what happened. I totally agree with how the offense failed time and time again and the "O" line left Cutler high and dry on four of the seven sacks. Makes me wonder whether or not Tice will be a decent coordinator or not. One so-so game over Indy and an embarrassment at the hands of our most hated rival who again is owning us completely. We have 14 games left to play and I will be in the UFO for next weeks game against the lambs who came close to get the Lay Downs in Detroit. Should be interesting.
  16. Do you still believe that at this point? I definitely do not. The Cover 2 is not what Smith thinks it is. I hate Prevent and Cover 2 and it continues to get worse. This has turned into another embarrassment in the National Spot Light once again. It is just so frustrating to watch something like this at this point and time. The worst part is that it seems that the team is not in synch and even though the "D" may have done all right, the big plays will always kill you.
  17. Maybe the "D" is doing all right based on the stats however, it does not look as little as the stats are saying. Still do not like giving up such big plays and granted their touchdown was on special teams however, how do you explain allowing a rookie QB to pass for over 300 yards?
  18. I know this has been talked about many times however, I am so freakin pissed off right now with this defense. I know it is only the 2nd game as well however, it is the freakin cheese heads we are playing. This so called defense continues to give up huge yardage and does not seem to be doing anything positively right now. How else do you explain that last Sunday we make a rookie QB look like a freakin All-Pro and tonight the "D" is getting even more exploited by the QB who has been one of the best in recent memory in the NFL. Yes I did just see Julius Peppers get another sack however, the huge plays will continue to hurt us and we are lucky to be only down 3 with 2:09 left in the first half. Not a good showing on National Television once again and it is becoming painful to watch. Hope Smith wakes up his team and gets this turned around otherwise we will not be meeting Smith's #1 goal of beating the freakin' cheese heads!!!!!!! Yes I just saw Melton get his sack just now as well.

    Webb is a moron

Not sure which was worse, Webb's lame effort to block Matthews. Carimi retaliating on Matthews or the lame a$$ challenge by the Cheese Heads that the replacement refs granted them an extra down on. Either way, Webb definitely screwed up and Cutler gave him an ear full walking of the field.
  20. If we did not have friends over with young children I would have been cursing like a drunkin sailor at that Pick. Just totally pathetic way to start out what was billed and a re-vamped offense. Sack immediately given up followed by a Pick 6 had me furious. Granted things got better as time went on however, still some issues that may get overly exploited by the freakin cheeseheads on Thursday night. Hope all sides of the football play a bit better or Thursday will be a very long night. I do like the fact that the cheeseheads are currently at the bottom, that for my wife that Michigan State won and is looking good and that some how my Cubbies pulled off the sweep in Pittsburgh. Thankfully I am able to focus more on football once again.
  21. I keep looking at the schedule and I am able to see us going at best 13-3 if everyone stays healthy, I am not worried about Urlacher. Cutler has a monster year as the offense is built better around him and Martz is gone. Passes for over 4,000 yards, 35 TDs, 12 INTs and makes Pro Bowl Marshall is so excited to reunited with Cutler that he has a true monster season. 110 Receptions, 1,500 yards, 15 TDs and makes Pro Bowl Bennett has a decent season as well and builds on the relationship with Cutler that started at Vandy 70-80 Receptions, 1,000 Yards, 8 TDs Jeffrey proves why Emery picked him up in the second round. 50-60 Receptions, 750 yards, 5 TDs Hester continues to build to his return legacy and is the Special Teams Player for the Pro Bowl 60-70 Receptions, 900 yards, 5 Rcving TDs and 6 Return TDs Peppers has an amazing year and goes to Hawaii 15-18 Sacks, 5 FF, 3 Fumble Recoveries, minimum 5 Pass Deflects McClellin shocks the NFL 7-9 Sacks, 3 FF, 2-3 Pass Deflects and just wows the World Briggs has another typical Briggs season, Urlacher as well and don't forget Peanut. It is the most excitement I have had for a season in a little while. Hope the season goes as well as we are all predicting.
  22. No chance of moving forward with the people in charge that are in charge. George is leaving a lot to be desired and I have never thought t.t.t. The Brain Philips should have ever been put in charge of this team. Worst part is that George apparently met with Rocky Wirtz and John McDonough about how they fostered the turn around at the U.C. and watching the Cubs make drastic changes on the North Side with bringing in Theo Epstein et al to change things there. I so wish that Mugs was still around for us as well. Unfortunately it was not in the cards for us to have Mugs still here and Papa Bear could not last forever as much as we would have liked. the G.M. position has become a joke at Halas Hall since they got rid of Jerry Vainisi and if they promote Ruskell we are still dealing with a Jerry Angelo clone who is just as inept IMHO. We need to get rid of Ted and Lovie and find someone who is worth a damn. Hell if Oakland was able to hire McKenzie before the Packers are out of the playoffs, when in the hell couldn't we get an interview with him or someone else who is with a caliber playoff team? Because Philips is dragging his heals and the McCaskey family still has its collective heads so far up their back-ends they are not able to see how much further this is going to set back this once proud franchise.
  23. I was just on Facebook and a Chicago thing I am comnected to call Chicsgo Hoody threw an interesting idea out there for the next GM Da Bears should hire, Not sure it would happen however, I kind of like the idea of bringing back Da Coach as the GM. Imagine the intensity around Halas Hall with Da' Coach back in charge of something so important. Something tells me Lovie would not last the 2012 season and who knows who Da Coach would bring in to take over. Just something to dream about in my opinion. What do you think?
  24. I just don't want to end with only Angelo. I do not think CPA Ted should still be in charge of this team and getting someone like Polian is better than what we have and maybe this guy McKenzie with the hated Cheese Heads maybe just what we need. I like the speculation of getting Cowher in here or maybe get Gruden since he wants to leave the booth any how. Good day to start the New Year on and it may become a great New Year if the Turk keeps coming around.
  25. If the McCaskeys only had a brain. LOL
