I'd love to see JPJ as our center. We haven't had a solid starter at Center since Olin Kreutz.

Give up next year's 2nd, Hell No! Play hardball. Get top return or keep JF. I'm tired of the Bears giving away players in trades. Other teams get a King's bounty for players, we always seem to get crap.

Let's pray Kliff K. wants his man, Caleb, to return to DC. Obviously, he doesn't have the final say in the Commanders' draft room, but he can possibly convince the powers-to-be that they need to meet the demands of Poles to obtain the number one pick. I'd love to see, as a minimum return, 2024 #2 (where we draft Maye), 2024 2nd rd pk, 2025 1st rd pk, 2026 2nd rd pk. I think multiple teams will be bidding against each other, and there is a good chance the scenario I listed could be a lowball.

I get your point. However, most top free agents signing that big contract for 4 to 5 years are already in their mid to late 20s. Therefore, when their contracts expire and need resigning, many are beyond their prime, descending in value, and can/should be released. If resigned, for less money, we can extend rookie deals that are maturing.

I am really curious about the 'height' question. I bet he is less than 73 inches. I will go with 71.5" as my guess. LOL

I just read that Caleb Williams doesn't plan to have an agent representing himself. It was a very foolish move, IMO, and one I suspect was supported, if not because of his father. It's not unheard of. R Smith didn't have an agent resulting in Poles being unable to come to terms with him, thus traded to the Ravens. Lamar Jackson didn't have an agent during his draft, which is why many think he wasn't selected until pick 32.

Yes, I am getting pop up ads that are very annoying. If any other site did this, I would never return to that site. However, I am addicted to this site, so I try to ignore them. -
It's the first time I have seen or heard of the Rich Hill version of the trade value chart. It's amazing how you can have it altered to emphasize the Bears. I have bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks for posting the link. I knew we had limited picks after round 1 this year, which was disappointing. Our picks on this chart reinforce my belief that Poles will be pulling off some trades. He loves building through the draft (which is why I love Poles), and if he doesn't trade number 1, #9 is toast. LOL.

The other question is, if they draft Williams, do you honestly think they will let him sit (I think they should) or throw him out there in game one (I think they will)?

Of the ten listed, I would choose Gardner Minshew as a short-term stop-gap option. On the other hand, they didn't mention Mitch T as a possible option. LOL

I love your mock drafts, thanks for the time and effort you put in to post them for us. I do have to say, in several, I see you have Daniels as a mid to late first-round pick. I truly expect him to go top 5, possibly to New England. I even saw one 'guru' (can't remember who) say he was #2 QB, with Maye @ #3 QB.

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?

I agree. With this mock, for the Bears to fill their needs with limited draft capital after round 1, they would need to load up in free agency, which is not Poles' M.O. -
Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?

There are so many mock drafts out there; it seems endless. This one, I think, would please many, although I personally have doubts about the trade they propose taking place. It shows how the Bears could draft both Caleb Williams and MHJ. Three-round 2024 NFL mock draft: Patriots deal for Justin Fields in one of five first-round trades -

I enjoyed the article by the young man. He has a good future. Obviously, he's a fan of Williams, but he gave us an article with good points to be made, both positive and negative. Thanks for sharing the link. -
I hope you're right but I suspect it could be a draft day move.

I was trying to have some fun. Green for sarcasm. Emojis showing laughter. If that upsets you, I apologize. I wasn't mocking you! You take everything so damn seriously. Lighten up! You never used to be this way. For the past two decades, I enjoyed our light-hearted exchanges. Now, I find it impossible to post anything without upsetting you.

F**k, did you see Kelce's chest bump HC Reid during the game, causing him to lose his balance and almost fall? He was screaming at him with his face inches away from his HC! What did Reid do? NOTHING! Talk about being laid back! Reid went up to him and told him he still loved him! Christ almighty, the next thing you know, he will be hugging the guy! It's obvious Reid needs to be fired! Just because there are other HCs who were laid back, like Landry and Shula, inducted into the Hall of Fame doesn't mean Reid is a future first-ballot HoF inductee just because he is laid back! What in the world is going on? ? ? ?

Hey, Mitch is available! Pittsburgh just cut him! ?

Every year, it seems a top-ranked prospect has info about some transgression that causes them to be questioned. Often, they drop down the draft boards, costing them millions of dollars. Everyone passed on Randy Moss. Minnesota got a bargain. Who was it that got ripped for parking in a handicap spot? LOL Seriously? Look how Carter dropped, with the Bears gifting him to Philly (although we got a damn good RT in the process.) I am still waiting to find out what our DC did to cause him to resign and disappear. I thought something would be leaked by now.

I'd be curious how Maye's collegiate stats compare to NFL Top 10 Franchise QBs' collegiate stats. Did his collegiate career stats indicate that, although not as impressive as those of Williams' stats, he could still be a top-tier franchise quarterback? This is crazy. One day, I wake up and feel convinced we absolutely MUST draft Williams at #1. The next day I wake up to decide we MUST trade down to #2, rape Washington for a boatload of picks, and draft Maye. Then I question if we should just maximize trade downs to get as much draft capital as possible and pick up a QB as a wild-card project behind Fields. In other words, I have no idea what we SHOULD do.

Damn it, that's what I feared. The exact reason I was pissed when he didn't make it last year.

Does anyone have info on how Mongo is doing, health-wise? Last I heard, he had been admitted to a hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia. That was last August. Last I saw a photo of him, it was painful to see how he had progressed with ALS. I pray he will be able to view, if not attend in person or remotely, the HOF induction.

Here is one mock draft that was published on nbcsportschicago.com. It was done light-heartedly, but IMHO, it could be quite possible (I hope). The only thing I didn't like about their selections was a 2nd WR taken in the 3rd round without the OL Center position being addressed. Bears mock draft: Poles passes on Caleb Williams, trades No. 1 pick I apologize in advance if I posted this before. I have had a lot of personal stuff going down lately and find my memory a bit faulty as of late. It was too much for my old mind to process. ;-( It involves a trade with Washington with Huge capital offered, a selection of Maye, and then a trade of Fields to Tampa Bay. Check it out.

I see there are things about this that make me excited. 1) If multiple teams are bidding against each other, it raises the value of the pick in trade. 2) I honestly believe Washington will try to outbid everyone for the right to select Williams. 3) If we trade the pick to Washington, it would put us in a position to draft Maye, who I believe has every bit as good a chance to be a top 5 QB in the NFL as Williams, and get a ton of draft capital to use to build our next Super Bowl roster. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Washington offered us a minimum of their #2 pick, along with their 2nd round pick received from us for Sweat and their 1st round selections for 2025 & 2026. Williams "might be" the better of the two QBs, but Maye is an awesome prospect without the "possible" issues of size (exactly how tall is Williams? We'll soon find out at the combine) and intangibles (such as his personality traits and domineering father).

I can't believe you are saying that I am attacking you. I've had enough. I will return, but not until after the draft (at the earliest). That is, if this forum survives.
