Bears vs Jags game thread
If you are trying to teach Cutler to stop throwing off of his back foot, and across his body, you might not roll him out so much. You might hope that once he corrected those mechanics that you could roll him out, but maybe they knew they couldn't trust him to do it.

I agree 100%. This doesn't look like a bad Bears team. It looks like a bad Giants team, or a Bad Broncos team. I see flashes, and I see holes.

Whitehair PFF Top 10 Player List
Because it's based on individual people's grades of each play. That's why PFF often comes to conclusions that make no sense at all. That said, whether he is a top 10 player in the league or not (he's not) it certainly does indicate that he's been playing well at center.

Draft thoughts
I think any time you are in position to grab a player that is considered a franchise QB you do it. Look at how Green Bay drafted Rogers with Favre still on the field. The question isn't what other needs we might have, but rather, are any of the available prospects franchise QBs.

Where do you guys see the All 22?

Cutty out for a while...
If you think about it Cubs style, we might be in the lottery this year for a top pick QB next year. I see flashes from this team. Ive seen 8-8 teams that were solid but predictably mediocre. I dont see this team like that. I think this team flashes and regresses. I prefer that kind of bad team, because I think some players are in place, and we are still going somewhere. We might have to look really bad in the standings this year as a building but incomplete team.

Antonio Cromartie
I dont think we cut Slauson so much due to age, as due to switching to a more athletic style of blocking, where we ask guards to move further faster. He would have been a good option to have at Center, but you cant see injuries coming, and you cant keep a starter for insurance behind every starter.

Bears Sign Amini Silatolu
Thanks Adam, I hadnt seen that. I wonder what's kicking these guys' butts? I wonder if the new scheme meant to get linemen to the second level is wearing these guys out, or the lack of speed in their game is showing up in that scheme and making them think they dont have it anymore. I get the feeling we are building an actual Offensive Line.

Bears Sign Amini Silatolu
Yup that too. Overall it just increases flexibility.

Bears Sign Amini Silatolu
and it returns the depth at guard we lost when Ramirez retired, and allows us the possibility of loving Long to LT too. Not that we will, or that it'll work, but we have the flexibility to see I think.

Was Gase part of the problem last year?
Fox on the run

Bears working out Jake Long?
I think we didnt cut Slauson so much for age as style. He isnt a zone blocking guy, and I think they want to leverage Kyle Long's athleticism with a zone blocking system. In that context, Grasu makes more sense too. We moved from a 4-3 to a 3-4, but we are also changed our blocking system, so this all makes sense from that point of view.

Three Ways Bears Offense is Changing
Long has tremendous athleticism, so he is made for a ZBS. Getting Whitehair instead of Slauson might well increase Long's productivity.

OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY 3 THREAD
I think he's a special teams guy. I also think we are assuming we are set at positions because were used to mediocrity. It may well be that this team needs competition at every position. Building depth, building a team long term. Same with the OG pick.

OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY 3 THREAD
I think our top needs are: CB, TE, S, QB and also looking for KR, HB, DL, WR in that order. Not saying we will pick exactly in that order tho.

OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY 2 THREAD
they moved from 9 to 25 in the 2nd round and gained three 4th rounders for the trouble. That seems like a good thing.

Draft Strategy
Dont forget DE Kevin Dodd

Who do we take in round #2???
I'm looking at (in no particular order) TE Henry Hunter DE Kevin Dodd RB Derrick Henry CB Mackensie Alexander OT Le'Raven Clark We're pick #10, and Myles Jack, Reggie Ragland and A'Shawn Robinson are still on the board so there is hope one or more of my five will be there when we pick. I gotta say I trust Pace and Fox to do this right. They have more information and experience than I possibly can. So the game I play on draft day isn't to target a player and then get upset if the Bears don't take him, but instead I like to target players I like and then hope they are available when the Bears pick. If a few of "my guys" are there when we pick, I'll be happy, and if they don't get picked, then I assume we liked the guy we picked even better, which is a sign that we did well.

Shaq Lawson
60% of the time, and in passing situations, we are in Nickel, with a 4 man front, and need 3 point stance pass rushing 4-3 type Defensive Ends.
