I totally agree. If you want Vrabel, dont mess around and just go get him.

Well Waldron's playcalling was SOOOO terrible, and he was abandoning the run game so that when Brown came in and just called plays normally, it looked like a huge step up. But that doesnt mean it was actively GOOD or would beat good teams, it just looked better than the crap we are used to. Watch the Chiefs, or the Bills or the 49ers etc and youll see GOOD playcalling. Then you will realize how unprofessional our product has been for so long. Im not haitng on Brown, he may have a bright future, but it really shows you how bad weve had it, when we are all drooling over a guy who was an OC last year and had playcalling taken away from him, then was an assistant coach who wasnt even allowed to talk to our QB - suddenly he is OC, and does OK, ad we are ready to make him a head coach. None of this is a fair audition for Borwn of course. You need to have a team in August to install your vision and be judged on it, but neither is it proof that brown is any good at all. Right now, he is at best an unknown.

Im not a fan of hiring Brown to be head coach. Im not even sure he has done enough to get an offensive coordinator's position right now, but building a team and a playbook starts in training camp and it is almost impossible to turn something like this around in a couple weeks. It all begins in August, which is why Poles was an idiot to retain Eberflus.

I hear ya - I worry that Vrabel might want the Patriots job too, and they might want him too.

some do. some are half assing it. but until we have a coach I wont make too many assumptions about how the players are behaving. But for example, Jaylon Jones isnt wearing a captains patch in this game. He's phoning it in. Hes got a big contract, and hes been good when the games mattered. Id love to crap all over him for giving up, but I only really care how hed be next year. This has been such a sh*it show. Cole Kmet's blocks have been halfhearted too.

right. but it can be described all in one thing. it's a lack of discipline. we are also lacking personnel awareness. not helping Amagadje for example. that's all on coaching. And yes a lot of the players are not giving maximal effort either. but again thats discipline. Caleb needs to learn to read the field faster and get the ball out too. That's been getting worse. hopefully good coaching will fix that too.

LOL Im not actually a pessimist. Youll see when we are good. Im actually a really positive person. THe reason I think players and coaches are bad isnt because Im quick to hate, its because theyve been awful.

Im for Vrabel. If we take Johnson, I wont complain or predict failure. THe worst I can say about Johns is he isnt proven, and I have concerns, but i dont think he is desitned to be bad, so I wouldnt complain, id just be concerned. To me Vrabel is the right choice, but it's not like hiring Johnson is a sure fail. It just takes more hope i guess.

dude between this and Vrabel, you're starting to sound like me hahahaha

narratives and media are often far off of reality. If you win games, they notice. But they arent truth tellers, they're narrative chasers. They'd rather talk about if someones father was a champion arm wrestler for example, or whether someone paints their nails than arm angles and mechanics. That's just what sells to the masses. But it doesnt take the place of actual analysis. If we start winning, theyll unfairly talk well about us too LOL

I understand the idea behind offensive continuity, but I also think it's important to get a head coach. If we could land Shanahan or someone like that, then I am all for it, and i see the advantage of an offensive mind. But Im not willing to give on the head coach aspect just to lean toward someone who is an OC. I think Vrabel has the head coach stuff for days, but he also understands offense. Just like no one would say that Belichick doesnt understand offense, even though he comes from the defensive side of the ball as a player. At least Vrabel WAS a player! I've heard him mic'd up coaching in training camp for the Titans and talking about run fits and angles and stuff - he clearly understands how the offense works. Also, as a LBer, he had to understand the running game and the passing game. LBers and Safeties have that where maybe defensive linemen and corners dont as much? Anyway, I think Vrabel is more of a well rounded guy than Eberflus or Fox were, and he understands offense enough to pick guys on the offensive staff that share a certain philosophy (whatever that is for him) and will keep continuity. So all thing being equal, I would prefer and offensive guy, but I dont think that is more important than getting a real head coach, and Vrabel really is one.

right. HC, and the lines are our needs.

adam, thanks again for the many awesome stats you compile here. I wouldnt see these anywhere else.

Or depending on how the evaluation goes, Kiran could be swing tackle, and a rookie could be the LT too. But if Amagadje shows good work in these last games, that would be a bright spot going into next year.

I wonder if having nothing to play for puts them in a more cautious mode
