Upgrade our WR's??
I read this article last summer. I already said I was disappointed he didn't see the field this yr. However, I don't feel the Bears treated him poorly. They obviously feel he has some value as they kept him on the roster the entire yr. Again, I believe we need to have patience. His not playing is not the reason this season went into the shitter. Peace

Upgrade our WR's??
Well, he was drafted in the 6th round, New Orleans cut him and he was on Bears practice squad all yr last yr and no team stole him. This tells you how he is perceived by other scouts in the league. That being said, I wanted to see the kid play this yr and was disappointed he did not get on the field. I am hoping he stays on the team and has an impact next yr. Peace

Indy's new stadium will not be ready until 2009. Peace

Good catch. Forgot all about that movie. Surprising, since it is one of my wife's favorites. Peace

14th pick
He would be a project to develop. Look to get him at the end of the 2nd or somewhere in the 3rd. Peace

"Bottom line this organization started improving when Ted Phillips came in and brought in good football people and let everyone do there jobs and I don't want to see the Bears go around that. If Angelo doesn't trust Lovie to hire/bring in the correct coaches than he shouldn't be our head coach." Exactly - great point. Peace

I think we all need to realize this was a press conference less than 1 week after the season. FA doesn't begin until the end of Feb. Give them some time to work this out. We are only 1 yr from being in the SuperBowl. Peace

I didn't realize Falco was available in the draft. I thought he died in the 90's!!!!! Peace

14th pick
I'm sold. Make it so. Peace

Good to see you posting. Hope everything is good with the baby!!!! Peace

Position by position thoughts
I think he stays in Philly. Feeley is not a starter and Kolb didn't get any playing time at all. If they were looking at moving McNabb, they would have given Kolb some time at the end of the yr. Peace

I remember both of those from his comments. It was fairly clear, however, that he realizes he cannot depend on Brown and needs to have an adequate answer available. Peace

JA on the score at 10
He also said he felt we had the WRs to be successful and the issue on offense was the running game (we have to be a running team - scheme and play need to improve). Peace

Sounds like Lovie has control of his coaching staff ('Lovie has to be comfortable with his coaching staff - it's his call'). Competition at QB and RB. Would like to see Rex back. Will not rule out using the tag on Berrian. Peace

Even more specific on Brown - he said "How can I depend on Mike Brown?" Obviously, he can't and will look to upgrade. Peace

14th pick
If they believe Orton is the man for next yr, they should let Rex go. With the money tied into Griese it is best to keep him around as the backup. Draft a QB in rounds 3 or 4 (Flacco please) to develop for the future. I liked what Kyle showed us the past 3 games. He does not have the ceiling Rex has but he is much more consistent. If they decide to go with Orton next yr I will not be upset as long as they address the other issues (OL, WR, RB, S). Peace

The John Shoop Factor
"He was, is, and forever will be, the worst OC the Bears ever hire. Period. This is not up for debate." Glad you made that pronouncement...lol. Peace

Colt Brennan
I would be willing to give up a day 2 pick for him (no higher than 4th). Mulligan on the SCORE says they really like Flacco from Delaware. I watched him play against Southern and he looked pretty good. Peace

Colt Brennan
Great post. I would not mind bringing him in with a late day 2 pick (5th round or later). Peace

You've got to believe that they will dump Moose anyway if they sign Berrian to a long term deal. Further, no reason to keep Arch around since he will not start. I would think we would look at trading Griese since we can most likely get trade value for him. Peace

Peter King is out of his mind
Ok but the position is for KR/PR not KR/PR/Gunner. Peace

Peter King is out of his mind
In his Monday Morning QB article which he runs every week, he gives his votes for the AP All Pro. He picks Cribbs over Hester for KR/PR. How the hell can he justify that??? 2. I think, as a sort of Fairness in Voting deal, I am going to list my ballot for the annual All-Pro Team that the Associated Press has 50 members do each year. The AP recommends we vote for a left and right tackle, strong and free safety, et cetera. My team, with comments where appropriate: Offense WR: Randy Moss, New England. T: Joe Thomas, Cleveland. Not that hard a pick. Played every snap, was better than Walter Jones, and was the biggest reason why a D-minus line in 2006 played like a B-plus line in '07. G: Logan Mankins, New England. Toughest offensive position to pick because so many left guards (Steve Hutchinson, Eric Steinbach, Alan Faneca) played well. C: Kevin Mawae, Tennessee. Legit leader and great player this year. Edged very worthy Indy maestro Jeff Saturday. G: Chris Snee, New York Giants. T: Jeremy Trueblood, Tampa Bay. Weakest position on the offense, but Trueblood toughness and ethos won the spot. TE: Jason Witten, Dallas. WR: Terrell Owens, Dallas. I am sick about leaving Wes Welker and his 112 catches off this team, but I can't leave Owens off. QB: Tom Brady, New England. RB: Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia. Deservedly edged Fred Taylor. Set the all-time Eagle single-season record for receptions (90) and yards from scrimmage (2,104). RB: LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego. FB: Tony Richardson, Minnesota. Defense DE: Osi Umenyiora, New York Giants DT: Kelly Gregg, Baltimore. Toughest call of all, choosing Gregg over Albert Haynesworth. For the first half of the season, Haynesworth was probably the defensive player of the year, but he missed games 9, 10 and 11 with a hamstring strain, and wasn't the same in the five games after that, missing chunks of time because he still wasn't right. As a body of work, I thought Gregg's season was better. DT: Pat Williams, Minnesota. DE: Jared Allen, Kansas City. Reborn after giving up alcohol. OLB: Mike Vrabel, New England. One of the best, and cheapest, free-agent signings ever. ILB: E.J. Henderson, Minnesota. Flipped a coin between Barnett and Nick Barnett. Came up Henderson, one of the most instinctive players in football. ILB: Patrick Willis, San Francisco. Just because you're anonymous doesn't mean you're not a great player. OLB: DeMarcus Ware, Dallas. CB: Asante Samuel, New England. About to be a very rich man. CB: Ronde Barber, Tampa Bay. Edged Al Harris of Green Bay, the team that allowed the lowest completion percentage in the NFL this year. FS: Ed Reed, Baltimore. SS: Bob Sanders, Indianapolis. Specialists K: Phil Dawson, Cleveland. This year's Vinatieri. P: Andy Lee, San Francisco. Incredible 42 punts inside the 20. KR/PR: Josh Cribbs, Cleveland. Top five NFL punt- and kick-returner, and he was Steve Tasker all season as a pursuit man. Peace

Question about Ced's contract. In the Suntimes today, it said the following: "The No. 4 pick in the 2005 draft, Benson lost out on a $1.73 million bonus -- considered part of the guaranteed money in his contract -- when he finished with 674 yards, 27 shy of the trigger. With 1,593 yards and 10 touchdowns in three seasons, he doesn't feel he needs to assert that he's the No. 1 back." Do we get that money back as credit to the salary cap (I would assume so since it was considered guarenteed)? What is his remaining contract (years and dollars)? Thanks Peace

Sounds like Ced needs competition
He got a little fired up when someone suggested the Bears bring another RB. Maybe this will light a fire under his arse. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...earnt01.article Peace
