  1. "The media has said it, we have said it and other players have said it and so on... The Bears OL is not what it used to be. My flat out opinion is this. Fix the OL 1st and the rest will follow. I believe the Sinclair move to OG is a start, as he is more athletic than Metcalf and Beekman is obviously useless. I don't want hear the rookie blah blah either. OG is the easiest offensive position to learn and play". Then I guess we should just cut Beekman since he is a waste of space. Give me a break. He has been on the roster for 1 yr. We have no idea what we have in him at this point. Peace
  2. Exactly. It was a great play call and great execution by Orton. Moose dropped a pass right in his hands. I am tired of this from him. He needs to go. Peace
  3. Agreed. Kind of a combination of both. Have to evaluate talent and do the best they can to win. Peace
  4. "The editor of Bear Report said that Beekman is the smallest-looking 310# guard he's ever seen, that he hasn't shown the strength to hold his ground, nor the quickness to pull. If those observations are correct, he isn't going to touch the field unless he shows some big time improvement. Angelo blew it with that pick...." There is no way to know at this time if Angelo blew that pick. We won't know for at least another yr if the pick was wasted. I would love to see him get on the field (just like Hass) but evidently the staff wants to evaluate some other players (i.e. St. Clair at guard). Maybe the thought is they don't want to throw another brand new player in the mix and make it even more difficult for Orton. This season we have had the chance to evaluate several young players: - McBride: Appears he can be the nickel back next yr - Graham: Looks like a special teams stud. - Olsen: Has shown the talent but has dropped several passes. Must clean this up. - Toeaini: After 1 game he looks promising - Williams: We know he can play special teams very well but has just looked average on defense. - Roach: Just 1 game (special teams action - 2 tackles) - Gettis: Played several games on special teams. Did not stick out. - Wolfe: Needs more reps; has potential as a 3rd down back. - McGowan: Has looked much better since he took over the starting role for Arch. - Metcalf: Looked horrible - time to let him go. - Payne: Not enough snaps to judge. - Hester (on offense): Has shown signs but is still very raw. Peace
  5. Hindsight is 20/20. At the time the Bears had a healthy Mike Brown and Kevin Payne. Payne looked very good in the preseason. Further, we all felt the combo of Arch and Brown would be very strong. At least we got a fifth round pick for him and didn't cut him out right. Peace
  6. Just saw the replay of the penalty on Tillman (I was away from the TV when it happened). Horrible call. He was just going out of bounds. I can see the call if he was 2, 3 ft out. He had just touched the line. That penalty changed the game. What a load of crap. Peace
  7. Great stuff and I would agree. One of Brian's best games in yrs. Peace
  8. #1 - Agreed - Briggs way too expensive. #2 - Keep Clark; you will not get equal value for him in a trade. Besides, Gilmore is as good as gone and you don't want to have replace 2 TE. #3 - Keep Brown; we have no idea what we have in Bazuin. He still has 2 yrs left on his contract. #4 - Agreed - Miller and Reuben gone #5 - Disagree. Kruetz was just extended last yr. Not sure of the cap hit but we have too many other o-line parts to fix. #6 - Either Moose or Berrian stays. If not, you will need to sign another FA WR. Tender Davis. Bradley can compete for a spot next yr. Not sure if Hester will be ready to start (he can't ever line up on his own) #7 - Berrian bidding depends on Moose. Would rather have Faneca than Turner. #8 - Trade Griese for a pick (probably no better than 5th round). Will also open up cap room to resign Rex. That gives us #1, #2, 2 #3, no 4 (Walker), 3 #5, #6, #7. Use one of the #5s to move up into the 4th round. Draft OL or skill offensive position in 1st and 2nd; rest of draft in no order OL, LB, S, WR, QB. Peace
  9. You planning on addressing the o-line at some point???? To me, give the best tackle on the board. Since there are several that have 1st round grades, if you trade down a bit and get an additional 2nd then do. First and 2nd round we must address o-line and offensive skill positions. Peace
  10. Sign Grossman, draft Flacco, and let Griese go. Peace
  11. From last night: St. Clair over Metcalf - although I would rather see Beekman or Oakley play, thankfully they have benched Metcalf. Gilmore inactivated, Nick Roach on ST - He played all 4 phases of special teams. I think this means Gilmore is gone. Kennedy and Toeaini - Yeah, Walker is hurt but hopefully they realize he is not worth the investment and keep these 2 in the rotation. Still waiting to see Hass but at least they are bringing in some fresh bodies. Peace
  12. "Oh and I can't say again how awesome it was to just see Vasher back out there." I was really against him playing but it was great to see him contribute. You could really tell the defense missed him. Peace
  13. Better be offensive tackle - move Tait to RT and get Miller the F out of here. Peace
  14. The were horrible tonight. I take nothing away from the Vikings - they deserve to win. But if you are going to call crappy penalties, then call them on everyone: - Intentional grounding penalty - Alex Brown clearly held on Peterson's 2nd TD and the Bullinger 2 point play - roughing on Tillman Peace
  15. New tackle is Matt Toeaina. I like what he brought to the table and brought that up in another thread. Peace
  16. have we had in the past 3 weeks??? Has to be around 25. Offside penalties are a friggin joke. T Harris goes offside almost every game. Personal foul penalty on Miller - really nice. He should be benched for that crap. I don't want to see him play another down. Peace
  17. The o-line is horrendous. That and the play calling sucks. With a decent O-line I think AP could give us at least a James Allen effort. Peace
  18. Definately had some accuracy issues but I want to see him over the next 2 games. Peace
  19. Just my mantra. Not expressing any political position or belief. Peace
  20. This game was definately on the offense. Very hard for Orton to compete in the rollerdome. Still need to address some issues on D (safety comes to mind first). Peace
  21. but at least they didn't embarass themselves tonight. I was really worried they would get blown out. Impressions: 1 - Orton was marginal. I will give him a break since this was his first game back and he had to play in a hell hole. His accuracy, however, must improve the next two games. 2 - Nice game from Url. Good to see him step up on national TV. 3 - Get Hester off the field on offense. Orton has enough to worry about - he shouldn't have to line him up on every play. I want to see Bradley or Hass get those reps. Devin needs serious time in the offseason working at WR. 4 - Win the turnover battle by 3 and lose the game - dammit. How the hell does that happen. 5 - We need to see Wolfe more out of the backfield. I like AP but he gets arm tackled way, way too much. Peace
  22. Matt Toeaina #75. He made 2 outstanding plays stuffing Peterson for losses. He has only been on the roster for 1 week and has made a very nice impact. Cross DT off the list of needs for next yr in the draft. Peace
  23. Connorbear

    Wow

Turner sucks - absolutely sucks. Peace
  24. I'll go with 240 yds, 2 TDs and 1 pick. Hopefully, he doesn't get killed tonight. Peace
  25. "i absolutely would have kept johnson. it was stupid to dump a guy like that for the nothing crap he got busted for. and another team is dealing with that mess... the freakin cowboys!!" Wow. Going to really disagree with this one. Tank was given chance after chance to get his act straight. After he was released from prison, he was told no more or your done. Angelo did what he had to do. Tank is the reason Tank is not here. I am not very happy with the way several of Angelo's offseason moves have played out. Arch, Walker, the o-line, etc. He is partially accountable for this train wreck. However, I agree 100% with his decision to let Tank go. Peace
