  1. Agreed. I liked the old format. Peace
  2. Mad - You have to understand something about the press. For the most part "if it bleeds, it leads" is very true. You don't sell papers or newscasts off of rainbows and kittens. This kind of stuff doesn't get covered because it doesn't sell. Not that I agree with it. Just pointing out the nature of the beast. Peace
  3. The problem is the supply and demand dictate a certain price level. They will not lower prices until demand dictates it. Peace
  4. Wow. It seems the NFLPA forgot to tell the players to STFU while this was going on. Wow. Peace
  5. They will not voluntarily lower prices. Limited supply and high demand leads to higher prices so they have no reason to lower prices when they are the most popular sport in the U.S. Peace
  6. Props to Peppers for caring about winning. I am simply noting this is really not a big deal. Peace
  7. Why would Peppers care about this? He is still being paid the same amount of money at the same time it is simply being treated differently in regards to the cap. I am simply saying this really has nothing to do with him. This is about how the money looks on the books in terms of the cap. In fact, I would say that any player that disagreed to this change is a complete arse because they could be harming the team's ability to be competitive. Peace
  8. I don't think Julius had anything to do with this. I believe the Bears simply changed the roster bonus (paid up front and cap hit up front) to a signing bonus (paid up front but cap hit is spread out). Peace
  9. My understanding is Tice took the Bears job because he wanted to be closer to his kids who are in school in Wisconsin. I can't imagine him leaving if this is true. Peace
  10. I believe it was a 7th and we did not get a pick for Payne since he did not make the team (he was put on IR before the season). Peace
  11. He is only making 1.275 million a year this year. I believe the vet minimum is 750 k. I wouldn't cut him for 500 k especially given his experience. Chalk up the 7 million we gave him to a safety net for Forte this last year. Peace
  12. This will never happen. The union will never agree to this. Peace
  13. He grew up a Bears fan. I guess I would trade that for a ring and the millions. Peace
  14. Not sure how many of you know I am now the lead sports reporter for The Woodstock Independent and the Harvard Main Line two local papers in McHenry County. I have been in the job since August of last year. After the Packers beat the Bears and were headed to the Superbowl, once of our young stringers at the paper contacted the office and asked if he could try to get a press pass for the Superbowl to cover Bryan Bulaga from the Packers (Bulaga went to Marian Central in Woodstock). We told him yes, wished him luck, and thought there was no way he would get one. Later that week, he called to say after 30 plus calls and several emails he had succeeded. His pass allowed him to go anywhere in the stadium other than the field. He conducted several interviews and took some great pictures. I have attached the link to the paper with one of his articles plus have posted one of the pictures he took. Peace http://www.thewoodstockindependent.com/
  15. They have already paid him the majority of his money. Unless Bell and Unga look like they are ready to step in, I see no reason to not keep him around for another year. Peace
  16. I agree 100% on Tommie. Time to cut him loose. I think Knox has a lot of potential. He came from a small school and has clearly been given too much responsibility too early. Most receivers take off in year 3. Hopefully, he shows some real progress next year. One thing is for sure - he would be no better than the 4th received on GB and possibly 5th (Jennings, Nelson, Driver, and possibly Jones are better than him). Peace
  17. Agreed. I think we have a 3 year window with Url and Peppers. Going to be interesting to see what happens. Peace
  18. Once the CBA is cleared up, I fully expect him to get an extension. Further, I agree we have seen the last of Tommie on the Bears. Peace
  19. Heard this morning on the SCORE. My thoughts go out to Lovie and his family. Peace
  20. I would trade our first (#29) and Knox for Fitzgerald. I am not sure if that will be enough. Peace
  21. "He treats us like men. If we do the right things -- you're on time, you show, which you should do, you're a professional football player -- he treats us like men. He gives us days off here and there. The way he acts. You know, he doesn't sell us out in the media, the media that gets on him for being more vocal, this and that. But we love it. That's kind of how we are, as well, and we get that from him. I don't want to play for anybody else and it think that's how the rest of our team feels as well." What this says to me is Lovie Smith will be extended and will coach for the Bears until Urlacher retires. If Smith goes, Url will follow. Peace
