What is a two year stop gap QB worth with options up to a 4th year? I would be happy with a 3rd with hope for more. 16 & 17 million don't look bad for a middle of the road QB anymore. Some Bear fans are ready to give more than that to an unproven prospect. I

Too hard to figure out, but if you can get Watson and J Adams RD1 by trading down 7 slots in real life you are a modern Jimmy Johnson.
-
I am with you here. I would throw in shut CB as well and as deep as this draft is at CB, you can get a good one RD2.

Hard to get an A in this class, but I think Bear fans would be good with it. Might have to address DE and OLB in FA as I missed hitting on those. Go after Short and Chandler Jones and they should be competitive. Your score is: 10710 (GRADE: B+) Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 8 (CAR): Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson (A) Round 1 Pick 18 (TENN): Jamal Adams, SS, LSU (A+) Round 2 Pick 4: Cordrea Tankersley, CB, Clemson (B+) Round 2 Pick 8 (CAR): Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford (A) Round 3 Pick 3: Obi Melifonwu, SS, Connecticut (A-) Round 3 Pick 19 (TENN): Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson (A) Round 3 Pick 39 (CLE): Chad Wheeler, OT, Southern California (A) Round 4 Pick 4: Julien Davenport, OT, Bucknell (A-) Round 4 Pick 10: Jaleel Johnson, DT, Iowa (A) Round 4 Pick 40 (DEN): Jake Butt, TE, Michigan (B+) Round 5 Pick 3: Stacy Coley, WR, Miami (Fla.) (A) Round 7 Pick 3: Chad Hansen, WR, California (A+)

I think he is in the 3-4 rd range also. We can get one or two good d lineman in that range, depends on if they can sign Short or Campbell in FA which I prefer over drafting one in the first. I would like to see them build the offense around Howard and hopefully Jeffery/Kevin White, so I am a QB rd 1 guy unfortunately.
-
Sounds like he gets lazy or inconsistent. You won't get away with that long in the NFL. He can play any slot along the line, but finding a good backup to Goldman would be smart. I also like Qualls from Washington and would prefer him If he is there.

I really liked this draft, was hoping to make their big board but missed by 1000 points. A few A minuses hurt, but my best so far. Your score is: 11378 (GRADE: A-) Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 11 (N.O.): Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson (A+) -has ability to lead, keep plays alive w feet. Round 2 Pick 4: Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama (A-) -may be LT of future or great RT. Another corner to solid line Round 2 Pick 13 (ARI): David Njoku, TE, Miami (Fla.) (A) - Huge threat in the seam, gives AJ/KW more 1 on 1. Round 3 Pick 3: Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California (A)- fiesty CB with return ability, INTs should increase Round 3 Pick 13 (ARI): Obi Melifonwu, SS, Connecticut (A)-Big athletic SS to be our Cam Chancellor Round 4 Pick 4: Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn (A)-Big body with quick first step. Rotate with Goldman Round 4 Pick 10: Devonte Fields, OLB/DE, Louisville (A-)-Another OLB to groom as McPhee's backup Round 5 Pick 10 (WASH): Jarron Jones, DT, Notre Dame (A+)-5T depth with high motor. Bullard, Washington, Ferguson compete. Round 6 Pick 17 (WASH): Ryan Switzer, WR, North Carolina (A+)-Slot WR and returner to replace Royal. Braverman has competition for roster spot. Round 7 Pick 3: Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona State (A+)-Long term replacement to fill void of Gould. Your Future Picks: 2018 Round 1 Pick 2019 Round 1 Pick

Brady wins and decides to retire! 38-34.

They say this is a deep draft, especially at Edge rush, CB, and TE. QB and OT, not so deep. Once the combine is complete, player rankings will smooth out and we will see player visits to gauge what the team may be thinking. Garrett is the only player I stay at 3 for, if he is gone then moving down can be more beneficial to gain a 2nd or 3rd. 81 days and the madness begins!

Finally had time to get in this and make trades. I am not completely satisfied since OT and S were not a higher priority, but it was interesting. Your score is: 10760 (GRADE: B+) Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 3: Myles Garrett, DE/OLB, Texas A&M (A+) Round 2 Pick 9 (CINN): Tim Williams, OLB/DE, Alabama (A) Round 3 Pick 3: Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida (A) Round 3 Pick 9 (CINN): Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson (B+) Round 4 Pick 10: Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami (Fla.) (A+) Round 4 Pick 12 (PHI): Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn (A+) Round 4 Pick 33 (PHI): Will Holden, OT, Vanderbilt (A) Round 5 Pick 26 (K.C.): Stacy Coley, WR, Miami (Fla.) (A+) Round 6 Pick 5 (LAR): James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh (A+) Round 6 Pick 32 (K.C.): Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss (A) Round 6 Pick 34 (K.C.): Weston Steelhammer, SS, Air Force (D)

They should have interest, do their homework, and call NE. The Bears would want to keep it confidential to keep to keep the demand as low as possible. If there is a source leaking, it is either NE to drive up the price, a made up media story to get hits, a bears source who recenly left or not a good employee, or smoke to divert. It is most likely a media story because they can tie in all the EIU homer connections to make it more believable.
-
Maybe we are driving the price up and hoping another QB needy team bites. Why would this be news now...this early? If the Bears were interested, this would not leak. Look how sly and tight they have been so far in this regime. The media hates how this team gives information. I call smoke!

I am a Watson guy, but Cleveland took him 1st and SF took Allen leaving Garrett. I would be very happy if MG slipped, top graded player.
-
Without trades. Ideally I like the depth of CB available in RD2, but cannot pass up a bookend OT.Was also mad SF took Kizer RD2 just before my pick. Liked Jake Butt as a risky boom flier in the 4th and Zay somehow slipped. 1. Myles Garrett OLB 2. Cam Robinson OT 3. Patrick Mahomes QB 4. Zay Jones WR 4. Jake Butt TE 5. Corn Elder CB 7. David Jones S

I am on board with this. I have seen scouts say Leonard Williams who we missed out on a couple years ago would grade higher. I do think he is an upgrade over anyone else we have though. If he does grade bad because of the medical, that hurts the Bears because he could command a possible trade down offer.
-
Never heard of it but will definitely check it out. Fanspeak has got to be sick of me. Would love that draft. So many players, we would be under the cap minimum or breaking some legs to stash guys on IR.
-
Looks like they will need a new coach, Curtis Johnson WR coach just left. He was one of the bright spots I thought, wish him the best.

If we know the Superbowl is still a year at least away, why not use this season to get a QB and his tools to get accustomed to the nfl now. Spend in FA to solidify the D while staying under 28 for age. When the 2018 draft comes the needs should be small so many BPAs to improve a playoff ready team with quality depth. Resign: Alshon Jeffery WR, Zach Miller TE, Brian Hoyer QB, Cornelius Washington DL, Sam Acho OLB, Miller is a team leader, he deserves another shot Cut: Jay Cutler QB, Mitch Unrein DL, Lamar Houston OLB FA signings: Kawann Short DL, Chandler Jones OLB, AJ Bouye CB, Jordan Poyer FS Draft: Trade- Carolina wants Jon Allen DL to replace Short. Bears get Pick#8, RD2-40, and a future 2nd. 1-Deshon Kizer QB 2-Cam Robinson OT (Matt Miller had him ranked 34, if not there Ryan Ramczk) 2-Cordrea Tankersly CB (Adoree Jackson also available but going more physical) 3-Bucky Hodges TE 4-Jarron Jones DL 4-Isiah Ford WR 5-Jordan Willis OLB 7-Ben Boulware ILB 2018 Draft-loaded to bring in BPAs 1 OLT 2 2 3 4 5 6 7

If it is a 2nd RD pick, it is less burdening. I would rather draft a kid and get 4-5 years in a rookie deal where as Garappalo will possible want Cutler money soon. If the Bears see something in Mahomes and can take him RD2, they should consider moving up to the bottom of the first to give them an extra year.
-
We would lose in the Cleveland trade. Cleveland 1200+ 580+265=2045, Chicago 2200, that is a 4th and 5th rounder difference we should receive. If we are trading down I would prefer to gain a future 1st and a 3rd this year. Other than that, it would be a good direction.
-
Oh man, look what you started....and to think if they took Brandon Albert instead, who myself and many insisted, who started LT many years for KC. That was the first downfall, then Carimi but hard to say because of his injury. Then, instead of McNugget, the could have taken G David Decastro. Couple of whiffs.
-
I am all aboard the Berry and Watson train since we have a high draft pick invested in Bullard and he should be decent. Myles Garrett as OLB, I would consider if it was an option.
-
I see that from time to time. Wish I would have saved a post I wrote 6-8 years ago and the next day my whole thought was in the tribune or suntimes but without credit. As for prospects, I think we have some good eyes in here and many draftsites and newspapers search these forums out. Here is to the Bearstalk ghost writers

Stop pointing guys out! All of our round 4-5 gems get elevated after this board promotes them
-
Cleveland at least has a young QB with potential in Kessler. The Bears are almost empty handed with only Cutler and Shaw with a contract. If Jay showed anything last season to grab onto, I would be ok holding onto him as this is his cheapest year under contract. I think it is time to move on though which may put us with Hoyer or Barkley to start, then a rookie and Shaw. Pace has a hard job this offseason. He will either over draft in round one or potentially risk losing out in round 2. He is criticized hard already for not drafting QB the past two drafts (missing on Prescott really hurts)
