With this draft being about 20 CBs deep with good talent and the Bears stock piling FAs, I don't think he gets considered. If they were a playoff caliber team, then they may have interest.
-
I'd say Fangio thinks different since two of their bigger fa signings last season was Trevathon and Freeman. Since we will have them for at least another season, they likely won't draft one. It depends on Trevathons timetable too. They would be a Freeman injury away from wishing they had another Kwit type prospect.
-
Kwit is good, but Trevathan will most likely miss the first chunk of the season. Looking long term, the Bears need to invest in another prospect within this year or next bc Freeman won't be here much longer, he could be cut next year for 3.5mil savings. ILB is probably Fangios biggest asset to his D, he had great ones in SF. Maybe I just want to see another home grown great in a Bears uni.
-
Has anyone heard any updates on Trevathan? I don't see the Bears going into season with only Kwit/Freeman. I can see the Bears taking an upside ILB more so than a CB in this draft. I doubt they go Foster round 1, but after I can see them taking McMillon rd2 or Beckwith rd 4. Since we would be more about depth at ILB, the later would be best.

As we creep closer to draft day and as the Bears prepare to do this work themselves next week, I did my best in starting an order. With arguments, players could move up or down. 1-Garrett Edge - top prospect, no questions 2-Adams SS - healthy and instant impact 3-Thomas DE/OLB- high motor, disrupter. 4-Allen DL - elite prospect, could challenge the top spot but long term health draws pause 5-Hooker FS- elite prospect and could be higher but still in recover/rehab 6-Trubisky QB-If he had a repeat year, would be top pick. 7-Foster LB-might be best ILB prospect in uhh last 5 years, would lead team in tackle year one 8-Williams WR-all around great wr, AJ Green 9-Kizer QB-proto typical traits to be 10 year starter. 10-Watson QB-leadership and knows how to win. 11-Howard TE-can have Gronk impact recv and blocks well 12-Lattimore CB-top CB can become shutdown, had some health questions 13-Barnett OLB-Stout pass rusher and run defender, demarcus ware comparisons 14-Robinson OT-Top OT prospect, fared well against top edge rushers. Feet questionable for LT 15-Peppers SS-would be higher if he had INTs, rare athlete 16-Fournette RB-Peterson like prospect 17-Mahomes QB -elite arm with gunslinger mentality. With proper coaching you have Favre without Cutler.

Crap....missed him too, he is another 3rd
-
Yep, they will be cutting about 37 loose come preseason.
-
I think he brings the total amount of players on the roster to 78. 90 is the limit, leaving 12 players yet to be drafted or signed as UDFA's. The Bears will be making their draft board within the next 10 days.

Free wings for every INT by BWW!

https://twitter.com/djdurkin/status/849795275996704768 Dan Durkin reports that the Bears have signed BW Webb DB to a one year contract. Another vet CB in the mix. Tells me they may hold off on drafting a CB at least early.

I would love to see Adams in a Bears uniform. Pace drafts players that impact the game, difference makers. He will have to decide if Adams will make the biggest impact. This will be weighed against the impact Thomas, Allen, or even a QB can make. The impact doesn't have to be day one, but when they are playing in February. His previous two picks have/had high upside to change games. White hasn't had much of an opportunity, but he came out of college with those traits. Adams does fit the bill, so this may be his pick. I can see another disruptive pass rusher filling the bill too or if he sees something in a QB we may be shocked and see one taken.

I put Watson down instead of Leggett, smh. I will edit
-
Not sure about Everett that high either but the experts have been saying this is a good TE draft. It may shake down like this. Howard-rd1 Njoku-rd2 Engram-rd2 Butt-rd3 Everett-rd3 Kittle-rd3 Leggett-rd4 edit Hodges-rd4
-
I have been intrigued with him. Good article to build up support for taking him too. TE's usually go sneaky high, there are always a name or two taken round 3 that wasn't on my radar so I would think he goes round 3 or 4.

Thought for sure it would crack their top 50 board. I doubt I can get any higher.

I think we all want instant gratification, but it doesn't always work that way. You have pointed out many players that should get more time before we draft over them again and consider those players busts. If they move Fuller and Hall to S, I find it hard to draft high at S. They would have Demps, Amos, Quarty-Jones, Fuller, Hall, Bush, Carson-Houston and a few others. Sure, I would love Adams/Hooker/Baker but we are looking at only keeping 4-5 on the roster and the house is already full. Drafting more just means we have to cut more creating more holes. I also think Bullard should be given the opportunity to be a main piece on the D before we draft over him. I think boosting the offense should be a priority. Get a QB with big upside, TE, swing OT, and WR. That is 4/7 picks. On Defense we can use a CB, DLineman, and OLB.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000079...33-top-prospect Stinger brought this up, and it is interesting to see who someone may project out to be. Thought I would start a string were pages could be attached to look at.

Leonard Fournette is a top 5 can't miss RB. He may not be on our board but some team may want to jump ahead of Jax and trade to our spot. This would be a blessing imo. #3 is too rich for S and possibly the QBs. Allen would be the only player being a 5T worth the money. Thomas would be good but we have a lot of money invested at OLB already and I think by trading down we can get a player just as good in Derek Barnett. I would not rule out QB bc Glennon is on a one year deal basically being paid around the middle of the QB pack. Pace has drafted a player each draft that he has brought in for a personal workouts, and all the QBs have or will be brought in. Pace also has to know if he doesn't get a QB with our first pick, he will either have to trade up to get one or take a middle of the road prospect and take alot of media heat for not addressing the position earlier. It is all a guess and that makes it fun. I would be happy with Garrett, Thomas, Allen, or Adams. I would understand taking a QB also because they are the keys to long term stability. It would be a blast to get together with this crew for drinks and the draft, I suppose we do online but the draft is one holiday I enjoy.

I can see NE taking him with the late 2nd. I don't worry much about having an instant player but a long term answer and possible probowler is worth it. Previous 3rds. Bullard didn't play much but should be ready to take over for Unrein. Grasu may take 3 years, I think they cut Sitton after the seasonand move Whithair to G.

That was the highest I've scored. The C- on Sidney Jones hurt and a few B's taking needs or upside hurt also, but I played with heart over head.

Saturday morning bored at work. Missed one or two guys I targeted, but this would go a long ways for a rebuild. A future backfield of Sidney Jones, Jamal Adams, Eddie Jackson, and Quincy Wilson could be interesting. I actually pulled up the trade value chart and took on a ton of value trading down, then traded back up a few times to get back into the 3rd. It actually makes sense. Jay is still the best option we have and the best QB in Bears history. HAFD!

Trading with Carolina would almost be perfect if we want to get the QB out of the way. I doubt NYJ take QB if Adams/Hooker are there. We would have to worry about a team trading up with the Chargers to leap frog us.
