  1. You for sure want to use those draft resources on expensive positions like DE. Do they make a push this year is the question, if they think they are close, Hunter makes sense and you can draft a prospect rd 2 or 3. But if they go QB, then they might not make that push this year and get offensive weapons to make the transition smoother.
  2. Will there be a DJ Moore sighting in a SB commercial with Baha Mt Dew!? I am enjoying these interviews with him and it would be fun to see him paired with his homie MHJ. This offseason will have the fan base scrolling thru a war zone of the same debates over and over, even after the draft. It has come to labels being put on fans opinions as cultists one way or the other. What one thinks and expresses is only an opinion and it is not the end of Bear times which ever way they decide to go. This is a great time for the Bears and we need to embrace all opinions. The energy can be positive or negative and we know that positive energy feels better for all, so I look forward to feeding that with my Bear talk brothers.
  3. I don't disagree and have been on the trade down for some time, but I also see why they will most likey draft a QB. The Bears are in a better place than the past 10-20 years with a young core. On offense, their high needs are C and WR 2. They can use upgrades at LT, LG and WR3, but can get by with what they have. Would a C and WR2 make JF a top 10 QB? Maybe with Waldron calling the plays, but if not then we might not have a shot at getting a QB who can without trading future draft cap to do so. The best case scenario on trading down is to get the #1 pick again in 2025, but will there be a QB as good as this class or better than what we have in JF. If not, then we are drafting in the 20s for years and might have to trade draft assets to get a Cutler or pay JF the 40 mil/ year and hope a switch flips on his pass play. The latter scenario I think will cost players and draft capital that trading down will net.
  4. What a year for the Bears. I am happy McMichael lived to know he made it. It will be a blessing if he can watch Jarrett induct him. Then to see the windy city flyer get the nod for his electrifying returns. I will never forget shaking Hesters hand in Bourbonnais at the Brickstone restaurant his rookie TC and telling him that wearing 23 means you have some big shoes to fill. He smiled and said he will try.
  5. As much as I hate Sharpe, that was respectful. As much as I'd love to see Fields come to fruition, the Bears cannot pass on the chance. I've seen Caleb regress this season under top teams and his backup destroy Stanford in the bowl game, who also beat ND, but I will trust the so called experts that label him as the next best. The weight on Poles is tremendous, he can get a kings ransom to trade down or take the next coming at QB. I neglected Mahomes for having the smallest hands in his class and look at him now. You need a QB that can produce and build around. If JF would be happy to go to ATL, it would be respectful to make that happen.
  6. Does the trade chart take into consideration Caleb being hyped as the next Mahomes or Burrow? I realistically see that adding value. Here is Mahomes take on the situation.
  7. Jerry in camp JF1. He felt OC was the issue.
  8. Kmet is not a move TE, he is inline or Y. Bowers would be your move, H back/slot WR. Look no further than the years of winning by Gronkowski and now Kelce. Those two have helped carry their franchises to multiple SBs. A base two TE set would wreck havoc on defenses deciding to put run personal or dime in. Nabors would be the Tyreek Hill explosive threat and Moore your reliable go to. Kmet a weapon too and one of the best run blocking TEs. I agree, he would be a luxury and a QBs best friend.
  9. I was on the Kizer wagon back then. I do recall stating Mahomes has family pro sports bloodlines and he would have an edge knowing how to prepare.
  10. Luke Getsy, a strong candidate ? I still believe he needs to prove he can be a good OC. Find a spot with a decent pocket QB and make him great. Then he can be considered a strong HC candidate
  11. Here are two mocks, one taking CW and one trading down twice. The trade down nets two 2025 1sts and a 2nd. 2025 would give the Bears flexibility to do a Detroit and take a stud RB or ILB high.
  12. There are 5 teams interested in trading Chicago so far according to Collin. He knows bc teams have gone to USC asking about Caleb and told them they are looking to trade up for him.
  13. I am a JF supporter, but also see why the Bears need to use the resource on a QB to better the team. The Bears at least have JF rights for the season and can trade him during the draft, keep him, or trade before the deadline. If he walks after the season, the Bears should get compensation as high as a 3rd rd. If they trade him during the draft, let's say a 2nd this year and maybe a 2025 4th. If they trade him before the trade deadline to a team that lost a QB to injury, how high can it go? Hope they can get the best value for him.
  14. Right, Getsy was a QB coach who had one of the greatest to coach. He needs some years at OC under a good offensive HC to help him elevate his ability. We got him raw and he didnt rise to the occasion with the pieces he had. If he came to a team with Herbert, he could have been a HC candidate. Flus couldn't lure these hires from the beginning as you stated the Bears were looking to tear down and rebuild from the bottom. Now they are looking good with a talented young roster and the draft pick to select a projected great prospect. I am only pointing out that if the Bears started with better coaching, which would include Flus, would the Bears be better now along with JF. They never target the best to start and it shows. I like this group they have today and it should show with a winning record.
  15. Don't be surprised if he is taken late round 1. His status is on the rise and mock drafts are starting to slip him in the 1st.
  16. It is amazing at the improved coaching the Bears have obtained. It also is damning that this wasn't assembled from the beginning. Would it have made a difference in JF or our record is unknown, but these coaches are coming because they see this team is close and has talent to get there. A huge offseason and the addition of these coaches should help this team get over the hump. If they take Caleb, can they make him successful like Stroud? That will be the thought process of fans.
  17. If they don't get a decent offer for Fields, keep him. They own him for a year. Would a second do it? Maybe, but competition will show what he is capable of. If he elevates his play, then his trade value increases or you have a top dradted QB also in hand to keep or deal. I have played HS ball playing G, and when I sprained an ankle was told I might be replaced, It elevated my desire to play, regardless of my body. I finished 2nd all area, which in my area Kankakee has had good college and a few pros make it. My size being 5'7 killed my dream, but if they ever let me run the ball, I'd have made it to college. I was as fast as our fastest but a bowling ball w vision. Giving Fields no competition has killed him and giving Caleb or whomever will do the same. Make them earn it is all some want. We see all the failures of our QBs and to hand it to a rookie will produce the same result unless there is a reward to get the job and keep it.
  18. I like Samuel as a slot. Then draft a big/ fast guy for Y, maybe Bowers. You can disguise a lot with two TEs.
  19. Before the Chiefs and Ravens game, Harbaugh was gleeing over Herbert. I'd say that was a good reason.
  20. The Chargers fell off the planet this year. I know injuries played into it, but for having Herbert, they were awful except against the beloved Bears. Beatty is smart enough to know its time to depart. Their cap is going to do them in. Maybe Poles can pluck a player or two.
  21. He is under contract at least one more year and possibly two. They had 3 losses that they should have won but came apart in the 4th. That is 10 win potential and with help, should become the benchmark to hit or improve on. Waldron will work with Fields on improving his release time, that is one thing Waldron is known for. They will add a legit WR2 and Waldron prefers size (MHJ). They should also find a slot WR, Malachi Corely West Kentucky. The oline also needs upgrading as seen in the last game when GBs front 4 destroyed the pocket. Get a Center and competition to oust Davis if he doesn't rebound. Will that be enough for JF1, maybe or maybe not, but without that they were 7 wins that could have been 10. As for drafting a QB, whoever they take will require time to adjust and develop. Stroud was an outlier, you don't see that from rookie qbs often. Take a QB later like Nix or Penix if they are there at 8 or later. Let them learn while putting heat on who earns the QB1 seat.
  22. Interesting article, thanks for sharing. The for sure pick is going to be complicated and coming out of this draft will be a different story than we have been envisoning. My take on Daniels sunk a little while Nix and Milton rose. Not sure Milton has the snaps though to show consistency, it was Hooker who was lighting it up last year until he went down with an ACL.
  23. He was a good defensive line coach when here last and helped young late rd picks or udfa develop. I was hoping they would hire a guy to take full reins and let Eberflus manage as strictly HC.
  24. I am still on board for drafting Jayden Daniel's and let him sit behind JF. Unless a team offers a decent trade, I say a 1st, I wouldn't trade JF. Let Waldron work with both. Daniels will be best to sit a year while building some strength and knowledge. I believe Daniels can be leaned on sooner, but let him "rest" and the juices distribute evenly to be a great. If the Bears want to double down, sign JF to the 5th year extension, giving them control to trade or keep if he excels. This gives the Bears two QBs plus Bagent. A generational WR, starting FS, and a Center who could start or sit a year . DE/DT rotational pieces, a future stud G, and a TE that can create havoc for LBs. Plus a future 1st and 2nd in 2025 to continue the pipeline.
