Week 14 Official Game Thread - DET @ CHI, SUN, 12/10, Noon, CHI +3, O/U 42

I imagine his playbook knowledge is going to limit him, but if he has a good football IQ he might have enough down to get some snaps in -
Keep the band together! Everyone does not have to agree and that is okay. I think we all want to see the Bears be great again and stay that way. How they get there is never in our hands. Look no further than the draft and the head scratcher picks, but we end up saying okay, let's go!

It will add a 20-30 min drive to the commute going to Arlington, but they can really develop and make the experience much nicer there. I will miss the city and lake view, but getting older I am hoping for a roof, retractable would be a bonus. My thought is buy the Mccormick east building and tear it down to build rather than the south parking lot.

Thanks, will do ? -
And when he is on, like against Washington, he can play like a top 5 QB. He or the coaches need to get him playing that way all the time. The issue is when the team cannot handle the pass rush and they handcuff him. He loses confidence and thinks he needs to run and misses the progressions

I will be spending most of the time going the bathroom, getting another round of drinks and watching 7-10 minutes of the game but always represent. It is more entertainment with good friends then connecting with the game but we have caught some great moments over the last 20 some years of going once or twice. -
What if they trade pick 1 for pick 3 and a haul. Chances are still good MHJ is there. Bilicheck would take a franchise QB or LT before WR. Cardinals are a wildcard on what they do, but I figure a QB.
-
2021 he was a rookie that was thrown to the wolves game three against Kyle's Garrett and the Browns. It was not planned. 2022 he showed some flashes with the garbage he had after the team decided to tank. 2023 they added pieces around him but early injuries knocked out what they wanted to do. They are just getting the squad back. I feel we are now seeing proper pieces to evaluate. He played well against Det and lost, he played poor against Min and won. Let's see how the rest of the season goes. Brady, Manning or Rodgers would have sucked 21 and 22 with our team.
-
If they both have to go, that says the problem is rooted to coaching. The right move would be to establish the right coaches before thinking about getting a new QB. Starting over with both and you are looking at 2 years to even know if that will work. Out of the best QBs in the last 10-15 years, I would sat 80% had an established team with coaches in place and decent rosters to grow that player. We can continue to draft QBs, fire/hire head coaches, new GMs but nothing will work until you get the GM right and then the HC and coordinators. It will be a vicious cycle that will go on and on.

Other Bears news. They are exploring a new stadium in the south parking lot. I say tear down the east McCormick building and build there would work too.

I hope they come out firing and can capitalize on the way they started from their last game. I will be at this game cheering them. -
There are many things to consider and even going with the 5th year option should not be a dagger if Poles sees other prospects in the draft pipeline since he can trade for future 1sts. Fields has 5 more games to show progress. That can either be showing the team can win or him putting up 300 yd games and the team loses. I almost feel the first 2 years can be trashed since they decided to tank and rebuild with this being year one. Whatever route they decide, I will back it. The biggest factor I see for a QB is having the right coach and system in place for anything to work. Did the Bagent tape show enough that we have good coaches and a system? If not, then they either need more pieces to the puzzle or a new puzzle.

QB related, I am going to give Jordan Love credit which is not easy. He has grown the last few games and is now looking like a good QB to build around. Green Bay knows how to develop. This is something the Bears cannot do. With this in mind, I believe the Bears should plan to keep Justin Fields for at least 2024 only because competition makes the best rise. If they draft a QB, make him earn the position. If they have to wait 1 or 2 years, fine. Who cares about the money as long as they get it right, sooner rather than later. They need more talent at WR and Oline to get there offensively but they are not far.

Jalen Hurts looks a lot like JF in this game. If Philly ever wants to win a superbowl, they need a new QB ?
-
-
Now if JF made another costly error to lose the Minny game, I would have said that's a wrap. He did enough to live another day lol. He can rebound Sunday against Det, and if he carries the offense then the discussion get muddied again. It will be an up and down remainder of the season thing.
-
I don't think anyone hates you. We know your opinion and see the same stuff but we want JF to develop (not saying you don't). Maybe he never will. Next April we will find out what the regime thinks. No need for anyone to say who is right or wrong, we all see the same plays and want the same outcome in the end. Fans have hated every QB we had in my life and if it wasn't for being a punk ppl loved, McMahon was scrutinized for not being the best.
-
Against Minny, I wonder how the play calling changed after Jenkins injury. It seemed like Kmet and the RBs were not releasing as often as they did at the start. That took away the check down outlet imo. With twice as much blitzing an offense usually sees, the pressure noticeably affected getting into a rhythm after that first series. I need to look up Getsy's media day interview from Thursday to see what he had to say about the game.
-
I think there are many fans that feel this way. We still have games to see, but they should lean on him for the 2024 season as of now. If they can pull off another trade for the first pick, if they get it, they can add to the ascending talent and have two firsts with one that should be a top 5 or better with who they trade with. Like Chase said, If Carolina played well, would we even be considering this.
-
I agree, double down with another prospect. If Poles sees it as Williams or Maye, so be it. I'd prefer to move down, net another future first to keep the ammo stock piled. Mahomes was the 10th pick and this draft seems to have a 4 maybe 5 QB prospects, so it would be great to end up in this same type of scenario. The difference between the Bears and KC is KC had the same system running for years (Reid hired in 2013, Mahomes drafted 2017). That is probably the most important factor at developing a winning culture, not drafting a highly talented QB.

It was not pretty after the first series. I do not know any facts but believe Fields can change the play at the line. The triple boink screen calls could have been audibles by Fields and possibly the right calls by what he read. Same the week before with running the ball twice into the same wall. The important part is he did put the Bears in position to win after two costly fumbles. We ALL feared another fumble, sack, or int and he stepped up throwing a dime to Moore. They practice that exact play every week, so it is embedded muscle memory. Kneeling was also right, you cannot risk a fumble when you can kill the clock and get an easy 3 pts to take the lead. The low air yards was by design. The Vikings blitzed like 57% and they had to be quick one read plays. Kmet and the RBs had to help block more than release, especially later in the game. I wish Getsy would have tried some deep shots early especially after the INT just to break the Vikings from routinely bringing the additional pressure but he had to also protect the small lead.
