Not heard: I wish the Bears had drafted Quinshon Judkins in the 2nd Rd. In fact he looked rather pedestrian against our Bears. .
-
I think Dexter and Jarrett are playing well. They’re just not elite players. I feel the same about Sweat. Somewhere on the Dline we need a dude. If not two.

We haven’t played a lot of good teams? Minn Detroit GB Philly Baltimore Wash Pitt. We just put up 31 against the third best defense in the NFL.
-
Is he making Tremaine Edmund’s expendable this off-season? Best defense grades LB D'Marco Jackson: 93.5 DE Joe Tryon-Shoyinka: 90.4 NCB C.J. Gardner-Johnson: 80.3 DT Chris Williams: 77.7 LB T.J. Edwards: 74.6

The fact he’s the only QB in NFL history to have just 12 INT in his first 1000 passes gives me a ton of confidence we drafted the right QB.
-
I’ve accepted that we hired a coach who loves explosive plays and who is one of the best at drawing them up. He knows he must effectively run the ball to make that happen but it is just a means to his end goal.
-
Sure but we don’t have everyone available either. We’ve learned to beat a lot of teams with our backups and we went down to the last seconds with a depleted roster against the Packers. Nobody ever gives the Bears any props for playing with backups. Bear Down. Beat the Packers!

And I thought it was an MCL that gave way.

we can add this to our next game thread. For now I'm sitting just watching the Packers Broncos game without shedding any tears.
-
I would say he completely read Sanders correctly coming away with 3 INTs in the game and other than a couple big plays kept their offense stifled for almost the entire game.

I earned my badge here…. The Chicago Bears' playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams in 1986 was played in extremely cold conditions, with temperatures around -9 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind chill that made it feel even colder. This game is often remembered as one of the coldest in NFL history. .. Then moved to Arizona.

I’m not happy we lost but watching a couple film studies of Ozzy made me smile. He was shaky early but you can see him gaining confidence as the game went on and in the second half he was rag dolling Parsons. I do mean tossing him around. Beyond that, it was head on a swivel, picking up stunts, quick feet to redirect when he lost leverage. He wasn’t perfect in the game for sure but I have no doubt we have a starting LT. One more big test with Myles Garrett but he’ll be ready for Rd 2 against Green Bay.

You are comparing Lovie's ending with Johnson's beginning.

TE was still open. Ball was under thrown which is common when throwing football in very cold weather. We saw that all game from both QBs.but definitively more from Caleb.
-
Ben going for the win, pretty sure if we scored we were going for 2. I like that. With no pass rush we're not going deep into the playoffs. So just throw it all out there. This year is so different with clear changes for the better in the 2nd half on offense. We have definitely closed the gap with the playoff contenders. Now we need the icing on top.

Listened to Olin yesterday. He said the Eagles defensive front was trying to flow to the ball and our Oline was just washing them out of the play. The best way to stop the cut backs we were running is to go upfield and get penetration. From what I've seen in film of the Eagles game, you can keep one of the LBs backside to stay in that gap. Yet that removes a player or two from the front side of the play. You can replace one gap with a safety. Or what the Vikings did in our 2nd game was blitzing a CB or two off the edge to counter both the run game or go get your QB. Word is the Packers generally are a zone coverage defense with 2 safeties back. Are they going to commit a safety to the box? I don't see them changing a lot of the zone coverage to man especially as that zone helps keep eyes on Caleb when he's running. Whatever they try to do, Olin doesn't expect their DTs to hold up well against our Oline. Single high is risky against our receivers but with cold weather and Caleb's inaccuracies you could bet that he won't complete many.

Any road game on a short week is always a tall task regardless of records. Makes the win that much better.
-
Wow. I've been wondering about that stat but didn't know where to find it.

Packers passed over Burden and took Golden in Rd 1 He said he’d remember the teams that passed on him. I hope he’s dialed in to the playbook this week.
-
Does anyone know how long he’s been playing with the stress fracture in his foot?
-
I don't think Rome has had a bad season at all. There have been a few bad drops, and some missed throws from Caleb, but he's 9th in the NFL in receptions over 20 yards and 15th in 1st down receptions. That's not a bad place to be for a 2nd year receiver in a new offense. There were a lot of growing pains with the offense in the first 4-5 weeks and there still are things to work out. His big play ability is something defenses must account for.
-
Branch is the joker in that defense and that's going to be a big loss in their secondary.
-
Say what.... I've never heard or seen this metric before. No clue how they grade players but regardless, I'm shocked to see our rookie on the list in just his 2nd game as a starter at LT against the Eagles. I hope one of y'all put money down on that bet having any NFL week with 2 Bears OTs ranked in the top 7.

If you want to see how diabolical Ben Johnson is, this is my absolute favorite film breakdown of the year. Now it's crystal clear why his offense is so complex in all the options he wants to present to a defense, yet simple when you see the actual play run, and finally why he demands so much precision from his offensive players. To put all of that together with the timing for the various motions, snap timing, option routes, option blocks (shown in the Oline Committee video), etc. is why it's taken this team so many weeks to get to this point and we still have room to grow.
