This is different. Talking about the players starts at 12 min. Oline around the 14 min mark.
-
My concern with Trapilo is somewhat the opposite of Braxton Jones: Can he handle speed on the edge? We have nobody on our roster to really test him that way.
-
Loveland was criticized for his route running being a tick too slow and not being ready for the ball coming out of his breaks. This was after he dropped a couple where Williams hit him right out of the break. I’m not worried about Loveland. He’ll adapt to it and I expect Caleb to keep throwing him open like that.
-
I have. My sense is this is the most talented group we’ve had at the skill positions in a very long time. It’s been two weeks of practice and for some rookies just one week. I’m not worried about the Oline because most of those issues appear to be communication. Experience will iron out the wrinkles.
-
Less than what? The problem is we'd have to compensate two people: him and the Cowboys' owner.
-
Sure is leaning that way but I'm not completely out on Amegadjie once the game reps start. Biggest takeaway here is that Braxton is out of the competition. Maybe there is a sudden turn of events but at this point I'd say they want Jones to get consistency with the 2nd string in advance of the preseason games so he can showcase his skills for the trade market.
-
Ozzy took all first team reps at LT today. Amegadjie is injured and didn’t practice. All of Jones reps were with 2nd and 3rd string.
-
He's not one of the games best defensive ends. He's one of the best pass rushers and other than that he's an off-ball LB. If he is at DE on run downs he either gets around a block or he's walked backwards but he isn't setting an edge like you see with Montez Sweat. If this were for Myles Garrett go ahead and break the draft and the bank. I don't want $50mil and all that draft capital tied up on a situational pass rusher regardless of how good he is. It can be our top priority next draft, even drafting two of them if we want.

Each day the offense is better. It’s even starting to look good. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/bears/2025/07/31/bears-training-camp-updates-observations-day-8/85454818007/

in the middle of this video Clay Harbor talks about why he believes we have 3 good options at LT. He’s been very impressed with how far along Kiran has come since minicamp. That said, he still believes Jones has looked really good so far and has the lead in the battle even if he’s still ramping up to full speed.
-
It is note worthy because Ben Johnson was complimentary of the coverage and the tight windows they are forcing Caleb to throw into.
-
Second day with pads on and Kiran took some snaps at RT with the second team. Trapilo did not. We have a long way to go but based on camp reports it does feel like Trapilo is starting to take a lead. I’ve seen reports that Braxton has also looked stronger and is playing well as he ramps up. Kiran has looked good too which is surprising because he really struggled with the basic stuff in minicamp They won’t keep this a 3 horse race for much longer.

Or she was the one they used to spread disinformation.

Luther burden returned to the field. He’s still limited but it’s nice to finally get him going. In just two practices Loveland is already showing why we drafted him.

The battle for the last receiving spot is heating up. JP Richardson has been putting on a show. Tyler Scott has not. It seems Olamide is getting plenty of action as well. According to CHGO Richardson has not been doing special teams work yet but he was a good punt returner in college. If Richardson is moving up in the coaches eyes that's something to watch for because he'll need to show special teams value to make the roster. There are also battles at CB. Stevenson and Smith are splitting first team reps. Meanwhile Nahshon Wright stepped in consistently for Jaylon Johnson. I'll be watching for news on the safeties as well this week. I liked what I saw of Tysheem Johnson coming out of college. Can he contend for a spot against Jonathan Owens who IMO played poorly last year.
-
I know he's practicing but Braxton is clearly behind Trapilo and Amegadjie. On CHGO sports Hoge was saying this his injured leg is clearly atrophied and he has a way to go to get his strength back. He has the experience and there is a long way to go before Week 1 but he is in an uphill battle right now. Amegadjie has looked better in recent days versus where he was in minicamp. He walked off yesterday limping with what seemed to be an ankle injury. Most notable is that with Darnell Wright getting a day off they didn't not move either Amegadjie or Trapilo to the right side. I'm ready for the practice in pads this week.

This kind of a comment comes from paranoid Bears fans who need to feel better about the direction of the team (not excluding myself from that). Maybe the local media should ask better questions instead of assuming this is the same old Bears offense? Normally you'd expect the national media to be doing the easy hot takes on practice with the local media understanding what's really going on. The local reporters should be embarrassed they got scooped by Breer.
-
...and unlike last year nobody is asking Ben how he can simplify things for Caleb. At least I haven't heard one reporter ask that question. The goal is clear: Become the best offense in the NFL. Ben has the proven plan for that and the players need to get on board.
-
If DJ Moore is saying the defense is mixing it up and making him think it's doing far more to Caleb. This is Dennis Allen's approach but it's also not being done without Ben Johnson's approval. My opinion: Johnson isn't taking the easy road to getting Caleb up to speed he wants him to experience it all now in practice so he's ready for game day. You can glean some things from how a coach is challenging a player early on. Of course he's trying to find limits and such but that also means he didn't find the limits way back in minicamp....which is a good sign.

How the media reports the same plays Zack Pearson & @Zack_Pearson • Follow First two 11 on 11 sequences for first team offense not very good. Montez Sweat was in the backfield twice, once untouched as there was a breakdown on the line. Williams had to throw it away both times. Two completions to Zaccheaus. One PBU by Josh Blackwell on a short, Show more • Last edited 7:26 AM • Jul 25, 2025 0

This is different because they are already having the players on both sides of the ball go through what-if scenarios. Doing that on day 3. During an early 11-on-11 period, DE Montez Sweat got pressure on Caleb Williams on back-to-back plays. That was by design, according to OC Declan Doyle, to see how Williams would handle those situations. Doyle: "That's very intentional. That's trying to get our defensive pressures in against some of the stuff that we're going to do offensively. We have contingency plans for what they are going to bring at us, so the quarterback operating getting the offense on the same page as far as checking plays, checking protections, things like that, but that's all a part of the scripted practice, is trying to get the defense right with their pressure patterns and the way they're going to play coverage on the back end and then it's getting our quarterbacks used to whether we're throwing the ball or up front handling the movement with those run schemes."

Good. Tear them down and build them back up. Those of us who went through basic military training know what that feels like. Although the pay was quite a bit different.
-
If he was incorrect or not knowing his assignments then it’sa good message. If it’s just bottom of the roster churn nobody cares.
-
Just saw Ian Wheeler was activated. That’s good news for some RB depth competition.
