Yes but Jeff Fisher had a good defense, good running game and a suspect qb. So one and done. Thats not that great.
-
I disagree with that. Kruetz is no longer regarded is one of the best in the NFC even. Can't really replace him with anything better, but to me he didn't earn his big paycheck this year. He needs to step it up. The guard play was terrible. Tait was average and better suited for RT. Our line was one of the worst in the league. We need a complete overhaul starting with LT and the guard spots.
-
Well why not bring back the real Rex at a discount price and better oline. Doesn't make much sense to sink big bucks into a guy thats just the same.
-
Again if we draft a LT he probably wont be a go the first year. Get one in the draft and let him sit and learn behind Tait so signing a RT short term might be a good choice too.
-
Good thought too.
-
You know what Pix, i agree with you here. The first time Turner was here with a good oline, he made Kramer and Conway into a bad azz tandem. So I will give a pass here. Babich... the defense really stepped up in the last couple of games in the year so it makes me think that the focus was not there from the players.
-
With Indy he did that a little, but with the Cards he is so slow now that all he can do is north south.
-
Agreed, it doesn't make sense to bring in a back with similar styles to Benson.
-
Yes but D. Anderson is the same type of "gunslinger" type that Rex is. He will have stellar games but also will have games where he turns the ball over 4 times. If we bring him in what does the fans, media, boards do when he trows 4 picks and loses a fumble.
-
I've thought about this too. But I have also looked at it like this. Maybe AP will be the one gone. His running wasn't super impressive. His pass protection was not as good as advertised. To me Benson and AP are the smae type of runner so maybe he will be gone.
-
I really wouldn't say that the Wolfe experiment is over. He looked pretty explosive on the screens and dump offs. lus he ran pretty good when he oline did there job.
-
If we dont fix the oline, why bother
-
ummm... I'm not sure that Turner is Lovie's "buddy". He and Babich would have an NFL job for sho. Not sure where you are going with this.
-
The only big plays Berrian makes is if the ball is dropped into the bucket. he does not have great hands, routes are suspect, reads are suspect. Not the type of player you franchise. I think bradley and hester can make up for him. And Wolfe is intriguing. I like him with the ball in his hands.
-
This was looked at a ton on the old board. In that same draft, the other guy everyone wanted at that spot was Mike Williams. We got the better of that one. FIX THE OLINE
-
Again, if Hass was such a stud, someone would have signed him from our practice squad. So why don't you get pissed that the entire NFL treated him poorly. I'd rather us get Bradley, Olsen and Wolfe the ball more than Hass. How about worrying about something that matters like the o line

Good posts but some things I disagree with. "Alex Brown has earned the right to start for this and any other team that wants him. He put up with being demoted in favor of a 1st year sack specialist before training camp began. He waited his time on the bench, knew he was being paid to play and did what he was asked to do when called to do it. When he was asked to start for the team, he played for a team with nothing to play for at an All-Pro level. He defined the word "Professional" for me. I'm normally opposed to this, but if someone wants to throw him a bonus, I'd not be opposed at all." Agree that A. Brown is a solid starting DE and played well down the stretch, but he has never been close to an All Pro. He has always been a streaky guy, and you could argue that the demotion motivated him to play better. He is the third best pass rushing DE on the team behind Anderson and Wale. For me he is like a Phillip Daniels. And demanding a trade before the season was not very "professional" in my eyes. "Ron Turner needs to be saying "Do you want fries with that?" at work rather than "Hand the ball to Benson". That being said, I'll take a change in philosophy first, from running team to passing team. If he proves he can't make sound game plans and calls...I'm making the slitting motion with my right hand, index finger pointed, against my throat..." I really think that we still should be a run first team, like the Steelers. With alot of play action. I do not want to see the Bears in a spread attack. The thing I think needs to happen is to take the savings on Berrian and Briggs and put it straight into the O-Line. To me, that gets us back into contention in the Super Bowl hunt. "Lovie Smith took a giant leap down, in my estimation, on how a Head Coach should act. From talent evaluation to public relations, he appeared quite out of touch. I've met the man. I don't think he was that whacked then. I'll chalk it up to the fact that he may have read too many of his press clippings and enjoyed that extension too much. Again, 2008 is the acid test for him." I actually agree with this. The thing I always liked was that Lovie would make a firm decision and support it until it was tried and truly was a bad choice. This year I think he was way too wishy washy/flip floppy and that does not give me confidence in the direction of the team. if we are a ball control, defensive, special team type deal then stick to your guns in spite of the media and message board wanna bees And Hester is a beast.

"Bradley needs to hold onto the damn ball. The drop today was inexcusable." So basically he is no worse than Moose. lol
-
Disagree, I think we need to be more like a Pitts, Eagles, Jax, type of running game with a stud oline, throwing playaction, using two good tight ends, screens, and having a couple of deep threats. We need to get the OLine fixed. Spread is great until the swirly twirly winds come out (ask the Pack)
-
Doesn't matter who is at QB if the Oline doesn't get fixed. Oline is priority number 1.
-
Briggs is overrated. Another Holdman when he gets to another team.
-
Actually I thought McGowen and Manning did pretty good today. Plus I dont think Tillman is fast enough for safety, he'd just be another Arch.
-
I dont want to have a higher draft pick. First of all, you get less value. How many top ten picks pan out for the money? Secondly, JA's strength is NOT first round picks. Especially high ones. He is much better with lower round picks. And I can't believe that a true Bears fan wanted us to lose to the Packers for two slots in the draft. Thats pretty pathetic.
-
"I wonder if he will still try and throw Kyle under the bus like he did his rookie year. All talk and all drops..." I thought the exact same thing when he dropped it. "I don't care what Buffone says about the league being all about scoring points. This is just the lastest fad. Great offenses come and go (see StL). Great defenses come and go too. The Ravens and Bears have had a lot of success with their great defenses and average offense. Maybe if we had Tommie Harris on the field in the Superbowl we might have won that game. I'm content to continue with the great defense and work on building a good offense to complement them. Add in great special teams, which we have, and we're giving ourselves a great chance to beat anyone. " I totally agree with this. I would like us to pattern our offense after the Steelers and Eagles. Those guys run, run , run to set up screens and play actions. That would be perfect for KO. This is great because, as we saw today, it keeps the other teams offense off the field and is a plus in cold weather.

Chris Harris leads the league in tackles and forced fumbles

You always hate to see this. Guys that were junk on your team tearing it up elsewhere Gage, Wade, Harris. I hope the next one isn't Rex, because it really makes your team look foolish.
