  1. http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/vid...a5-ca96d0bd3e81 They posted it on facebook, i thought it was a nice short video to watch, so I am reposting it.
  2. I think the over all talent on the team will have to take a dip next year due to financial restrictions. Tha chance to see Cutler play with a significantly improved defense next year is not likely. That was 33 free agents listed, and you are cutting 3 players. You are bringing back 8 players plus 7 from the draft, so 15 players. That leaves 21 holes to fill at basically the league minimum. That's with the Bears losing both Williams and Anderson that were brought in for the year to help at LB. Their starting center. Either Tillman or Jennings and one of their back ups Bowman will be gone. Peppers would be gone, their 3rd WR and back up running back too. I just see a drop off in talent next year, so your wanting to see Cutler with a improved/healthy D next year isn't that likely.
  3. Let's say the cap will be 128 million. Going by overthecap.com, first site that showed up on google, the Bears have $78.5 million on the books next year. That leaves $50 million to sign players. Now let'ts say you franchise Cutler for 16 million. That leaves you with $34 million dollars. We also need to sit aside around $8 million to sign draft picks. That leaves $26 million dollars. These are the Bears Free Agents next year based off of sportrac.com. Melton Slauson Tillman Anderson Anderson Boggs Bowman Britton Cain Cohen Collins Costanzo Fiammetta Franklin Garza Gould Grant Hayden Hester Jennings Laptad Mannelly McCown McManis Palmer Ratliff Rosario Scott Steltz Walters Williams Wooton Wright How are you going to sign enough of these players to maintain depth and the special teams? You also need to replace or resign the starters like Melton, Slauson, Bowman, Tillman, Jennings, Garza, Gould, Wooton, and Wright? It's almost impossible with $26 million to replace or resign everyone that is up for contract this year. I just don't see how they can maintain the level of talent, yet alone improve the talent on the defensive side of the ball.
  4. It would also give the Bears a chance to keep him from going to the Vikings.
  5. I would try to tag and trade. It could yield a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
  6. Like I said I am not faulting him for that. It was a nice drive. It's just to me, McCown had to show more, and therefore looked better in his drive. It's completely my opinion, and therefore I will respectfully disagree. For me, I see it as Alabama scoring on Ohio University vs. Alabama scoring on The Ohio State Buckeyes. I can understand your opinion tho.
  7. Yes, I'm not saying Cutler looked bad on that drive. Cutler basically through to Marshall 3 times and they scored a touch down. That's great. However, McCown showed mobility and going through his progressions in his drive. That's why I said I respectfully disagree. There was more to be shown in McCown's drive than had to be shown in Cutler's. It's not that I think Cutler looked bad in his drive.
  8. I'll respectfully disagree with you on the first line. However, I totally agree with you on the second paragraph. The Bears are very much in the Wild Card chase now. I do think they most likely just lost the division this week. They are very much alive. If there is one positive to take away from this game, the defense looked the best they have this year. They really stepped their game up against a very potent offense.
  9. Lol, atleast put him in a little earlier to knock some of the rust off.
  10. It will be ruled incomplete.
  11. Best thing Conte has done all year!!!b
  12. No slow clap, if Cutler wasn't 100% then he shouldn't have played. Now McCown missed out on a week of reps. That's assuming that it is his groin that put him out and not his hand.
  13. Defense is playing pretty good outside the first drive.
  14. I won't complain if they didn't get that. Trestman has coconuts of steal, got to like that.
  15. That play to Jeffery was nice, wouldn't have seen that last year.
  16. Yea, but it was only for 30 yards and had an int. I don't think anyone wants him hurt. My comments have been more on what's better next year. Cutler vs, McCown & a rookie + 10 million to spend on improvements on the team next year. I hope Jay brings a super bowl home this year, not that he gets injured.
  17. I feel ya, but he did have his worst game of the year against them when he was healthy. I hope he does great, this is a very important game in the division. I just could see something happening like with Vick this year for rushing back too soon where he played poorly before reinjurring himself.
  18. I think he is going to cost the team the game by coming back too early and possibly reinjure himself. If that happens, I thin the overreacting will be warranted.
  19. To be completely honest, I think Alex Smith is a game managing QB at the moment. Their D is so good, he isn't asked to win games. However, that is not the Bears system now. Smith has and could be a franchise QB in this system. He has the skills and smarts to be a big success in this system. Cutler and McCown are on different ends of the spectrum, but I think the O flows better through him. McCown isn't a game manager here, but yet he isn't what I could call a Franchise QB. Cutler could be a Franchise QB in Cleveland, but I just don;t think he is in Chicago. The Bears have a winning system and his qualities just don't mesh. To be honest, Cutler is a mid range QB. I would put McCown as bottom of the barrel on most teams. That said, the talent around him, how he can work this system and the talent that surrounds him, I think he can produce better results than Cutler, and for a significantly lower price till the next QB introduces himself. The additional money, and if I am right with him giving comparable or better results, the Bears could spen 10 million or more on the rest of the team to make the team even better.
  20. I agree with you and I don't. When I think of game manager, I think of Orton in his fist year or Trent Dilfer. They managed games in offenses that were not potent. I think understanding this system will make a QB with a good grasp of it more than a game manager. The throw to Marshall on his TD was not a game managing move. It would have just been to throw it away. I think McCown is more than a game manager in this system. However, I think they could bring someone in younger, and better skills that could eclipse him easily. I don't think Cutler's performance has eclipsed his to warrant 10 mill a year I completely agree with the last sentence tho
  21. Here's what I saw in McCown. -He didn't lock onto his target as much and went through his progressions. -His progressions seemed faster than Cutler. -He didn't throw into triple coverage. -He threw the ball away when he needed to. -The seemed to be able to run more plays with him. (which may have just been him going through his progressions more) -An enthusiasm that seems to rub off, due to being in a position he didn't think he would be. -Read the defenses better before the snap. The running game seemed more effective against one of the leagues top run D's EDIT: Forgot to say patience, he doesn't seem to see the ghosts that Cutler does. What Cutler has that he doesn't -He has better ball placement. -A much better arm on the deep ball. -Experience with the players on the team. -Intangibles good and bad due to over trusting his physical abilities. I think McCown is mentally a QB that can run the system better despite his physical limitations. Cutler is physically a better QB that limits the system due to dependence on his physical abilities. The question to me is, does Cutler upgrade the team enough to warrant the 10 million or more a year over McCown and a rookie. I just haven't seen it in this system yet. You have to play who gives you the best chance to win this year, but next year has to be in consideration too. Cutler needs to take another game or 2 off and give himself a chance to get 100%. It will also give the team a chance to evaluate whether the team needs to shell out that kind of money to keep Cutler around next year.
  22. Is it just me, or McCown seeing less ghosts than Cutler? It seems to me like he is holding onto the ball longer.
  23. Can'te just slid right off of him
  24. I'm impressed at the system. McCown is doing great with it, but I can tell a difference than when Cutler is out there. He's making much better progressions and decisions than Cutler, instead of locking on and depending on his arm. The throws aren't always as pretty, but don't need to be as he isn't throwing into triple coverage.
