  1. That's what I mean. I think Williams has potential to a better LB in the NFL than Harris will be safety. To me it's sort of like trading a younger Chester Taylor (Williams) when you already have AP (Briggs) for a one dimensional TE Olsen(Harris) when you already have Scheffler(Bears Safeties). Olsen can't block (sucks in coverage) but still a little better receiver (everthing else) than Scheffler.
  2. I think Carolina got the better "value", but the defense that starts on Sunday's will be improved for the Bears.
  3. I would love to debate the stats, and where they come frome with ya. I have some personal and car stuff I have to take care of today tho. But there is a couple things I can add off the top of my head that I noticed while looking at all that last nite. The negative plays to the left I think is more of a TJ problem. If you look at his stats, the ones where he was near the left sideline he had 19 rushes for 22 yards, a 1.2 ypc average. Other players on the team didn't do nearly so bad, and I'm not sure how much of an effect Faneca had on those plays. Also, I think NFL.com uses something similar to Stats.com based off of that. I think they lump in "Left sideline" and and "left side" just from number of first downs they had, 40, on the left side. But we can look at it later or tomorrow if you want if Faneca isn't signed yet, numbers are fun. I think they go like (Left sideline) LT (Left)LG (Middle) C (Middle) RG (Right) RT (Right Sideline) on Stat.com if that makes any sense. Here's Forte's splits on from 2008 from yahoo. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8821/s....uLYF?year=2008 Weakest on the left side running. Anyways, really got to go, but I think the extra couple sacks per year are out weighed majorly by the chance to pick up that 3rd and short or goal.
  4. I'm looking at TJ's stats and it doesn't look like they were wearker by a long shot running left. They just didn't run that way nearly as much. 4.9 YPC isn't a long shot away from 5.3. He had 3 TD's in half as many carries as the 4 he had on the other side. It sounds like he can still run block to me. http://hosted.stats.com/fb/playerstats.asp...amp;page=splits Plus, Faneca isn't on a decline by letting up so many sacks. He's been credited with 5 sacks or more 8 years of his career per stats.com. http://hosted.stats.com/fb/playerstats.asp...288&team=20 Steve Hutchinson isn't the best pass blocker either,he's let up 10.5 sacks up int he last 2 years. You can't doubt the running game that Minny has had, or that the Jets had last year. EDIT: added an important stat below http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?off...mp;d-447263-p=1 That last link is a stat that's an important reason the Bears need Faneca. It's sorted by the Rush Power (PWR) stat for the left side. It's the percentage the team rushed on 3rd or 4th and less than 2 with 1st and 2nd and goal with less than 2 yards and got a 1st down or TD. The Jets were 3rd on the left side with 86%. The Bears were second to last with 40%.

    Alan Faneca

He made the probowl. He was awesome in the run, but slipped when it came to pass protection some. Still probably better than any guard on the team against the pass tho.

  7. How could you not want this guy protecting your QB I'm pro Bruce Campbell all the way.

  10. Lol, while I do like younger girls, It's just hard to tell what time it will be when the Bears Pic. Are we going to get people in tonight even tho the Bears aren't picking?

    Mark My Words

3 Years in a row would suck. How about 3 first rounders still being on the team since Urlacher was drafted(2000)? One is a TE that might be traded in the next couple days, Tommie Harris (who knows if he will be good again), and Chris Williams which may or may not turn out.
  12. I miss the old draft style, it was better suited for all of us jumping in the chat thing and bs'n. By the time the Bears pick, I'll already be out some where tomorrow.

    Olsen's value

Lol, no way they get a 3rd or 2nd for Olsen now. I can't see a team not in the trade thinking a low fifth for Shefflar was too high, then saying oh crap we better pay a 2nd or 3rd for Olsen. I imagine they will offer low 4th to high 5th round at best now. The supply went down but so did the demand. Worse is a price has been set on the value of the position.
  14. I don't think it's a system issue with McDaniels. It all started with a system issue tho, a legitimate one imo. He had a chance to get a QB that succeeded and he coached in his system the year prior. He had a QB that has flaws that can't suceed in his system. He inquired about a trade, it got out, Cutler got butthurt and demanded out. I think he is just trying to get control of his team. Telling the players that you're either with us or against us. Marshall leaving definitely wasn't a system issue, it was personality/attitude one. Marshall thrived in his system. He benched both Marshall (Marshall claimed leg injury) and Schefflar at the end of the year because of attitude/personality issues. I figured Schefflar would get flat out released, I'm surprised they got some value.
  15. My bad, only legends should be able to retire as Bears. I wasnt aware of that standard set forth. I thought if a player blead orange and blue his whole career, missed less games than any other player this past decade, and still was able to go out every Sunday and play better than most his level hed be qualified for some team loyalty. Theres Alex Browns salaries as a Bear per usatoday. He was just hitting the point of his contract where he would get paid. After years of service, he should have finally gotten that money. Ogun who is a bit older than Brown made more than he would have this year, last year. The Bears just paid out one of the biggest contracts in NFL history to a player a few months younger, that plays the same position. The team paaid one and a half times what he would have made this year to a RB who is already over the hill and had the same yards a carry as the young RB on the team. A TE in a system where TE isnt important will be sharing what time he is used, older than Brown, and still making about what he would have this year. To cut him based on Salary instead of talent shows how ridiculous the system is. It sickens me that the Bears cant rise above it and show the loyalty to their players that the players have them. I dont care if he doesnt get 1O sacks a year. Only 7 DEs did this year, and everyteam starts 2, you do the math. He is one of the complete DEs that can both play the run and pass at an above average level. He may not be a legend in your eyes, or anyones for that fact. He will be one of the few I will be telling my children about one day along with Urlacher and Mike Brown from this decade. His dedication to the fans, his ability on the field, his loyalty to the team should have let him retire as a Bear, imo. He earned that 5 million this year due to past service. Ask the guy who got a bigger bonus this year than Brown will make in his entire career.
  16. I'm glad he got to go to a really good team, but he should have been aloud to retire a Bear. Complete BS he was released.
  17. He's better off behind McNabb than Campbell, if Washington gets rid of Campbell. Campbell is a pretty darn good QB, he's just not GREAT. Grossman couldn't have stolen the starting spot from him. McNabb is more likely to get injured.
  18. HOOOORRRRIIIBBBBLLLEEEE move Philly, horrible move. I understand they have faith in Kolb. I'm not even going to touch whether they should have or shouldn't have traded him. I just don't understand their thinking in trading him to the Redskins. It's not like McNabb is going to retire after this year, or that he is all of a sudden going to be horrible. The last 5 years the NFC East has sent atleast 2 teams to the playoffs (2 they sent 3 teams). Cowboys are contenders every year. The Giants just won the Super Bowl not too long ago. All 4 teams are likely to be in the play off race next year. Every game the Redskins play has a direct effect on the Eagles play off chances. That's not even counting the two times a year they will play with McNabb having a major chip on his shoulder. I image the next highest offer Philly received was atleast a second round pick. The 3rd or 4th they will receive next year is probably what tipped in the Redskins favor. I can't see a 3rd or 4th being worth having McNabb division, or heck, even conference.

    I bet he'll have a good year
  20. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Ao2p...rs-louischarged Bears OL Louis pleads guilty to assault charge Mar 27, 12:28 am EDT * Buzz up! 2 * Print SAN DIEGO (AP)—Chicago Bears offensive lineman Lance Louis(notes) has been sentenced to 40 hours of community service and anger management classes for an altercation that happened while he was playing at San Diego State. Louis was also sentenced to three years of informal probation and a $565 fine as part of his plea deal with the San Diego City Attorney’s Office after pleading guilty Friday to misdemeanor assault. Authorities say Louis assaulted SDSU teammate Nick Sandford in a team meeting room last fall. Sandford suffered a concussion, broken eardrum and fractured cheekbone. The Bears have said they were aware of the incident before they drafted Louis. He could be subject to discipline under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

    Possible Guard

Does moving DM to SS mean the Bears are talented at FS or nickel back? DM's movement of positions speaks little to me of the talent on the team. He changes positions more then Jenna Jameson. That's fine if you think I'm nuts for thinking the potential at SS is equal to WR, cuz I think you are if you think it isn't. I don't think a single safety on the Bears will be as a top 10 safety in the league, just like I don't think a WR on the Bears will be considered top 10 in the league. I see no super stars in the making at either position. the talent as a starter may be there, Alfalava, but not brought to fruition (Harris and McGowan) due to the staff and system.

    Possible Guard

That could have been said about McGowan and Harris before they left. Harris wasn't a person many people thought the Bears would regret losing but made the ProBowl with Carolina. McGowan is now plays for the Pats. Safety is an ill managed postion on the team. It could be from bringing in washed up players, ie. Archuleta or not recognizing talent in the players mentioned.. Hell, Mike Brown didn;t look horrible on a bad KC team this year. I definitely want to see a FS drafted. I just think the talent comparison at SS is similar to WR. There are alot of potential at both positions, but neither have proven anything. Most likely no player at any position would be the tops on a team that signed them.

Loaded? If a bunch of 3rd and 4th WR's is loaded. No, I don't want to see one drafted in context of the convo, but loaded?
