yal doing the chatroom this year?

Tait made it in 2001 and 2006 according to his wiki page.

I'm not a Martz fan, by any means, and the offense on those 11-5 and 7-3 teams was why he was fired/decided to resign. The glaring weakness in that offense was the offensive line, and those teams won in spite of it. I know Jerry Angelo was fired partially due to the lack of talent on that line. Tice, however, in by no means deserved a promotion in my opinion, since he put a turd of an offensive line, however shiny he tried to make it, on the field. I'll give him a chance, but I disagree with azbearfan that subtracting Martz and adding Tice will necessarily improve the team. They have both been subpar coaches for the last 10 years. He, as was Martz, is living off an old reputation in a what have you done for me lately league. We saw how his promotion with the Vikings turned out, we'll soon see how this promotion turns out. The fact that a team like the lowly Jags would only want him as a lowly TE coach and not an offensive line coach, and 31 other teams weren't interested in him as an Offensive Line coach, always made me question his credibility coming in. After seeing the Bears offensive the line the last couple years, I haven't changed my opinion. I aslo disagree with him on how free agency was approached, due largely to the offensive line not being addressed once again.
-
That horrific OC was replaced by a guy who coached one of the worst lines in the league. A guy that has never been an OC before. The guy management had so little faith in him at OC, that they brought in a passing coordinator. I agree with you on the Mario Williams front, just not so much about Tice being a significant upgrade or free agency.

Forte was drafted and since has basically been the only bright side of the offense since. That's no dig on Cutler, but whether it be the line, coordinators, or receives, the passing game has struggled. In fact, he's been the Bears most reliable receiver also. He wasn't "Paid", didn't get a big contract when he was drafted. Since he way beyond, met expectations. His contract is up, and he is ready to get "Paid", and I think he deserves it. I'm not saying break the bank, but don't low ball him either. Not one person on the board actually knows the offer that was made or what Forte is expecting. The only thing known are either rumors, speculation, or taking managements word that a fair offer was made. Now, I'm not trying to say he was low balled, just saying that we have no clue what is going on there. What we do know is the effort we've seen on the field from him. What you get with him on the field is worth more than a 2nd or even a first imho. His "fair market" value may be a 2nd and a 4th, but he's worth much more to the Bears when you look at the team. Forte may "only" have a couple years left as a top 5 back, but how many years does Urlacher have left or Tillman or Peppers or Briggs? Basically what I'm saying is, the team is ready to win now and has to win now. If you lose forte, you lose a very special player and really hurt your chances of winning a championship while this defense is together. A second and a 4th, or any other combination of draft picks this year, are not contribute what Forte can by the time the window of opportunity closes on the defense and this team. What I'm defining as hate, is a player busting his ass and contributing the most on offense side of the ball that this team has seen since Walter Payton, and people would be happy to see him go for a 2nd round pick, just because there is a contract dispute that no one knows the details about. That to me is just ridiculous, and there for I used the word hate. It may be the wrong word, but I could careless about the business side. I know what I've seen on the field, I know what he offers this team. I have no clue on what's going on between him, his agent, Emery, or JA when he was here and made the "fair offer", nor do I care to. There's no easy replacing him. The guy was on a ridiculous pace this year, the likes the Bears have never seen, prior to his injury, and the guy still made the pro bowl even tho he missed those games. He's 26, has 4 to 5 good years left in him, I'm seriously at a loss for people thinking a 2nd and a 4th is a fair deal.
-
Forte is one of the top 5 running backs in the league. He's worth way more to the team than a 2nd and a 4th or even a first. He's the guy that people spend top ten picks, hoping the running back they draft can one day develop into him. I just don't get all the Forte hate from Bears fans.
-
I don't see all the Forte hate. He's been a top running back in the league, behind of one of the worst lines in the league. He's also done it while playing out a contract where he wasn't paid that much. I think he deserves a big contract, not only for what he will do, but to reward him for what he has done so far while playing on a peanuts contract.
-
I wouldn't bring either back, they should be fine with just Cutler and Campbell
-
One important thing that I haven't seen mentioned, they didn't have to give Marshall a signing bonus!!! That means all of that money the Bears had held back to give to Jackson or Williams for their huge signing bonus they would demand is just sitting there. If they want to pursue someone like Nicks, they can give him a huge bonus and small salary for this year and back load it. There's a lot of work Cliff Stien can be doing do with the contracts, having that extra money to give out.
-
That's just the price of a decent back up QB, you see what happened last year with out one. I'm all for improving the OL, but this was a need that needed filled also.
-
I'd really like that move also, so far I am really liking how Emery thinks. Let's just see what he has plans for the OL.
-
I don't care about the cap numbers, he is a hell of a lot better receiver than Jackson, I'm stoked, plus he only turns 28 this month. This is HUGE!!! Now go get me Nicks and I will love Emery.
-
I hope the Bears don't sign either Jackson or Williams. Jackson just isn't worth the money, and I don't think the best way to improve the D is by sinking money into the defensive line. Instead, I think the biggest improvement for the defense is investing in the Offensive Line. If the Bears don't do everything they can to bring in Carl Nicks, then I will be very disappointed. The Vikings invested heavily on a guard a while back, then the Jets did it with Faneca and it had dramatic effects for both teams. The highest paid LG in the league right now is on the Patriots. It's a key position and he is only 26 years old and arguably the best in the league.
-
I'd take 2 firsts and a second to move back 4 spots, when the team trading will be starting a rookie QB this year and next. That's just insane!!
-
I would bet 5 bucks, if Moss gets put on a team that will let him play this year and barring injury, he will have more TD's than either Bowe or V Jax plus Meachem combined. Vincent Jackson has an arguably better QB than Cutler right now and has never topped 1100+ and 9 TDs. Bowe had a lot of TD's the year before last but only 5 TDs last year. Colston is arguably the best out of all 3 barring injury or him being a system player. If not for injuries, he's been consistently better or near both over his career. Moss is the best WR ever to play football. Rice was the most determined, but even if Moss has took a play off here and there, he was the best. Moss is determined now, still young enough to play and well rested. He will be a force this year. The Wide receivers available will be Mushin Muhammad quality but at an over exaggerated price. I want them to pursue who is available, Stevie Johnson in paticular if he doesn't get locked up, but none are worth a huge contract no matter how desperate the Bears are for a WR.
-
You cut him if he isn't good, because I totally expect them to address the position like he wasn't signed. The Bears still need to draft a WR in the 2nd or 3rd who could develop for a couple years behind Moss, and aggressively attack the available free agents. There's more potential in that than signing a free agent and putting the pressure on a rookie to step up and play then.
-
I think a "motivated", just turned 35, Randy Moss will be better than any WR available in free agent out there this year. Before the year he was tossed around everywhere, he had over 1200 yards and 13 TD's. Now he's basically had 2 years off, and he's coming back because he wants to play. It's not because he needs money and has to. While he isn't the long term fix the team needs, I'm also not saying to ignore the other WR's available. The defense itself probably only has a couple years left. It's time to stock up and try to when now before Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman, and Peppers all start going down hill. Worst case you cut him, but there is potential for a major pay off for a low price tag.
-
I would LOVE to see Moss go to Chicago. I don't think the Tice connection can be understated either. The Bears could be a perfect fit for him.

Welcome back NFO, I'm not posting much, but reading a lot.
-
Knox is the best WR on the team(Williams still has to prove he can be who he was), and should be starting. Given Williams past, It doesn't bother me that he is starting, but with out a doubt Knox should be on the other side. Knox got a lot of blame for Cutler's mistakes. I'm not saying he didn't make his own. I mean he was a second year 5th round pick in a new system. I'm just saying he got a lot more blame then he deserved and arguably a top 3 talent on the offensive side of the ball on this team.
-
he was one of my favorite bears, glad to see him back
-
My eyes lit up when I saw this on here. Love this move, the guy is a beast!!!
-
It doesn't mean you need to find a new team. I'm sure here and myself were fans way before the current FO came into power. Personally I am to the point that I am so disappointed, that I don't even post in forums, and not excited about football. It doesn't mean I need to root for the some what local Bengals,Philip Rivers' chargers because I am a fan of his skills or whatever. I'm a Bears "fan" I just can't be fanatical about them anymore, and you can't get down on someone like terra who doesn't like a move. On paper Williams is what the Bears need, but the last few years he has been horrible. It could be a good signing if he was cheap and they were taking a gamble, but it's a pretty bad one imho if they paid him like a number 1.

Hate that I'm even reading this thread, should have been deleted or moved. Mendenhall isn't a Bears, plus the thread not only got political and religious. Mendenhall's first tweet was ignorant in that it was ill informed and he should have known it would hurt his career. The one comparing their celebrating and ours on the other hand, I feel is a very knowledgeable. Bin Laden wasn't evil to be evil. He seems like a product of his environment that had the ways and means to help pull off a horrific act. Yet, I wonder if I was in the same situation, raised through, and experienced the same things, then would I had did something similar. I like to think not, but where these ppl are coming from. These ppl live their life in a war zone. The last time there was a country that attacked american soil, we ended up nuking that country. It's not that I sympathize with the horrible things they did for revenge. I feel it's at least right to try to understand their motivations, to help prevent similar acts in the futute. It wasn't ppl that were just evil, it was an extremist terrorist reaction to actions that had been taken by our government previously. It's helped move me to a more libertarian point of view of wanting our country to keep our nose out of countries businesses. It was sort of disheartening seeing our country celebrate so wildly. I was excited when I found out the news and drank til 6 am. The pictures and video of americans celebrating on the streets was reminiscent of the celebration in the streets of third world countries. While it was mentioned someone of pure evil dying, to them America is pure evil. While you and I know that isn't true, that's their understanding of us due to experiences in their lives. They finally did the impossible and struck a blow on America, which effects are being felt to this day. We killed what our country has labeled pure evil. Our ppl celebrate after 10 years of waiting for that day. They are third world countries, and we are supposed to be leaders of the world. It can be understandable for some ppl saying that we as Americans should have shown more class. I drank my beer happily, but wasn't celebrating like the Bears just won the superbowl. And to whomever wrote about the Koran being more open to approving violence, just look at world history. The Bible was used as an excuse to have the crusades, oppression of women, complete distruction of culture and languages such as the Mayans, and so on. Any religious text can be interpreted by extremists to reach their goal. Plus, Mendenhall quoting one passage while ignoring another is commonly used every Sunday. Read right before the 10 commandments in the bible and read the rules on slaves and women laid out. They are rarely mentioned but they are appalling in todays world. I believe in God btw.
