What was the biggest thing he said to me was when he mentioned Rivera on people that were gone and the team missed. That's a huge indictment against Lovie to me.

http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/...g-to-bears.html Briggs echoes Hester, predicts changes coming December 17, 2009 12:40 PM | No Comments lancebriggs-pv.JPGBy Brad Biggs Lance Briggs stepped to the podium in the media room at Halas Hall this afternoon and said he was ready to deliver some controversy. The Pro Bowl linebacker was joking, playing off an interesting Wednesday when wide receiver Devin Hester expressed his frustration with his role and the team's struggles. "There is going to be a shakeup. There is going to be what I call a shake at the lake,'' Briggs joked. Then, the team's leading tackler got serious and admitted that, yeah, things could be different starting in January. Photo: Linebacker Lance Briggs says the Bears 'D' isn't what it once was. (Phil Velasquez/Tribune) "Obviously, with years like this, I'm sure something is going to happen," Briggs said. "Next year, I don't know what. But for me and the rest of the guys in the locker room, this year and this day will never come again. "It's frustrating to go through years like this. The only thing, at this point that you can really do, or I feel I can do is for one, finish strong, two, not let this happen again. "I could say a bunch of different things about it. We're definitely not the team of the past, of those successful years (2005 and 2006). We don't play that way. It doesn't feel that way on the field and the results are not the same. So, any hope of that, people need to put that stuff to rest, really, and we need to start moving forward and continue to move forward and eliminate the questions of, 'Are you guys going to get back to this form?' "We need to move forward and develop the guys that are here, get better communication, play better football and work on success for next year.'' Then, Briggs started talking about some of the players and coaches who are no longer here, mentioning ex-defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and secondary coach Perry Fewell, and players Thomas Jones, John Tait, Mike Brown, Ruben Brown, Chris Harris and even Ian Scott. "There are guys that are gone that we don't have," Briggs said. "I think sometimes when you believe in what we're doing so much, you think sometimes, 'Hey, we can let this guy go,' or 'We don't need this guy,' and we'll be just fine. I think in most cases that would be the case, but you miss some of those guys when you don't have them and sometimes you realize what you could have had when it's not there anymore. There are things that I do miss about some of those players. "The thing is, in football nothing lasts forever. Who is to say if those guys are with us today we would be successful."

Jim Miller broke it down pretty good after the game and said both were on Cutler. On Devin's play it was sorta boths fault, but he wasn't open and the throw shouldn't have been made. On Knox's int, he looked back and Cutler should have thrown the ball if he was supposed to cut in at that point. He hadn't so Knox kept on running his route. Even if the WR ran the wrong route on these, the guy is covered by his man and the guy that caught the ball cutler through and made them ill advised passes

i sorta like the idea of a crazy, nasty guy on the line lol. Maybe it will rub off on some the other linemen.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4745760 Rams release veteran guard Incognito Comment Email Print Share Associated Press ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams released Richie Incognito on Tuesday, two days after coach Steve Spagnuolo benched the temperamental offensive guard for the second half of a loss at Tennessee. "As with all other personnel moves, this is what we felt was in the best interest of the team at this time," Spagnuolo said in a statement. "We appreciate Richie's efforts and we wish him the very best." Incognito Incognito A team spokesman said Spagnuolo would have more to say about the move Wednesday. The Rams have other problems: Their other guard, Jacob Bell, is likely out for the rest of the season with a torn hamstring. Incognito is a five-year veteran and has spent his entire career with the Rams after being drafted in the third round in 2005. He has frequently landed in trouble for playing long after the whistle and was named the dirtiest player in the NFL earlier this year by The Sporting News. Incognito was benched after drawing two personal foul penalties for head-butting opponents in the first half on Sunday and then watched the second half from the bench with a poncho over his head. He was also yanked in the opener at Seattle after being whistled for two personal fouls. The Rams (1-12) did their best to encourage Incognito, even naming him a weekly captain for one game in mid-October. "I like Richie, I do. I'm trying to help," Spagnuolo said after Sunday's game. "I'm just trying to help." Rookie quarterback Keith Null, who made his NFL debut as the starter last week, wouldn't say what aggravated Incognito against the Titans. "I'm not going to go down that road with him and talk about that," Null said. "That's for you to ask him and him to deal with." The Titans game was Incognito's second after missing four games with a sprained ligament in his right foot. He has played in 44 NFL games, all starts, in a career dotted with anger management issues dating to college when he was kicked off the team at Nebraska. Before returning to the lineup, Incognito said if he were a gentlemanly lineman he'd probably be out of the NFL or perhaps playing for former Rams coach Jim Haslett in the United Football League. He didn't mind the "dirtiest player" recognition, noting that other players couldn't keep up with his "intensity level." Last season, Incognito criticized the team's dwindling fan base, made an obscene gesture to a TV cameraman during practice and encouraged hecklers by cupping his hands to his ears while leaving the field after a loss. Seahawks players criticized Incognito before a game in 2008, accusing him of jumping late onto piles, twisting ankles and scratching necks. "You know, like the FBI's 20 Most Wanted? Yeah, he'd be on that list," Seahawks linebacker Julian Peterson said. Incognito was All-Big 12 as a sophomore offensive tackle at Nebraska in 2003 but was suspended for repeated violations of team rules before the 2004 season and subsequently dismissed at Oregon later that year after attempting to transfer. ***This year the Bears have .268 first downs per play. Last year the Bears had .282 first downs per play. *** ***Last year the Bears had .0.380 points per play. This year its down to .318 points per play.*** Ok now that we have the boring stats out of the way. The Bears had more first downs per play last year, mildly which kicks out the notion that Orton's offenses stalled more then the offense this year. I couldn't find a 3 and out stat, but i think first down per play may be even more significant. They scored a significant more points per play than last year. Cutlers threat of scoring is just that, a threat. He's not any more lethal this year than last years offense of the Bears. INT's just kill a team. They are not better than 3 and outs even if the team had more last year. They are momentum shifters. They give the other team better field position, and in Cutler's red zone issues, it takes points off the board. I understand people love Cutler, and I really hope he has a bright future. I just don't see why people have to make up things like the 3 and outs. Why they have to lie to themselves and say Orton is/was mediocre to make them feel better about Cutler as someone said earlier. Or why people have to justify everything that Cutler does by placing the blame on other Bears or degrading old Bears. -Cutler is playing like crap this year. -The offense was actually better last year. -Orton lead a better offense last year. Those are just facts. Cutler has potential to make this offense great one day. He and the rest of the offense are just crap today.

I don't see the point in the time out. Originally I was like why the hell didn't he just throw the flag if he was going to burn a time out. With that much time tho, I would have just taken the penalty. It's 3rd and 22. Why waste a time out there to save 5 yards, youre just as unlikely to get 3rd and 27 as 3rd and 22. The Bears ended up punting anyway. So instead of getting the ball back with 3 time outs, or having time outs to burn on minnesotas drive, they have one and get the ball back with just the 2 minute warning to stop the clock. One time out is worth more than a 5 yard penalty in that situation, yet along two.

Aren't all of these number scewed by the fact that the Bears decline in the running game this year? The Bears are averaging basically the same first downs per game 16.5 last year and 16.2 this year. The Bears had 295.9 offensive yards per game last year and 309.2. Scoring is down this year to 19.4 from 23.1 last year.

I don't see the contradiction. My point was totally about tenure and experience in the league. Manning has an understanding of the offenses in the NFL that Cutler just does not have yet, nor do I think any 4th year QB would have. Your skill is irrelevant to me. If you went on skill set alone, Michael Vick would have a future as a GM in this league with that line of thinking. Ie. if Mike Brown was not let go, I would have taken into consideration his thoughts when looking for a defensive coordinator. He seemed to have a very good defensive mind, knew the talent on the team and experienced different systems/coaches. I think you should cater to Cutler in finding him a good offensive line and WR's. I do not think you should hire your offensive coordinator or head coach based on what makes him happy. He's a professional and should be able to work well with the best available. I personally want this team to get better, not for Jay to feel warm and fuzzy every morning because he gets to work with his friend.

I tend to agree with him on this actually. IMHO, who cares who Cutler wants for OC. Now I admit, I don't follow USC. I did look at there offensive points per game, and this is the first year since 2001-2002 that USC's offense hasn't scored over 30 ppg. Does that means Bates sucks? No not necessarily. The last time the Bears went for someones buddy instead of searching for the best person possible for the position it backfired in Bablich. Cutler is the teams QB for years to come. That, however, doesn't mean he should be coddled. To me he hasn't earned the right to make personel decisions on this team yet. If he was Peyton Manning who has shown what he could do for ten years for the team and had a good guage on what a team needs in an offensive coordinator, then have at it.

I'd be worried if he was purple. Purple people are lazy, hate those guys.
-
they just switched to the packers tampa game at my house cuz the bears game aint competitive

http://www.ATDHE.net click on the bears and make sure you hit the play button, i didnt notice that till just now and missed all the game

I agree he didn't need the wake up. I honestly think it was still the line then. I think forte benifitted from a some what changed line. Everyone had a hard time running behind it that year, like this year, and he would have gotten liked and wanted here when he had a fair chance to show it on the field, and i agree on him being fragile emotionally, eventually. I really think if it wasn't for Tank Johnson ad his problems, then Benson would still be here. It was just a time when NFL players were messin up too much including our own.

Lol, here's how I probably would have drafted. Not saying it was good or all the guys woulda turned out, but looking at the draft with the original picks. Round 1= Michael Oher Tackle Round 2= Duke Robinson Guard (I know he fell really far, but wouldn't have known that before the draft) Round 3= Rashad Johnson Safety Round 3= Juaquin Iglesias WR Round 4=Tony Fiametta FB round 5= Fenuki Tupou Tackle Round 6= Blake Schlueter Center Round 7= Graham Harrell QB Round 7= Lance Louis ) Round 7= Derek Kinder WR

I agree that Cutler wasn't the fix needed. The team had a lot more pressing issues that needed addressed. It did improve this team tho. The team needed to draft players for the offensive line for years. instead they pretty much ignored it spending only one first day pick on an o lineman since Columbo. There were also more pressing needs in the secondary, then an upgrade at QB. While the Cutler deal wasn't the pressing need, what exactly would have happened with the picks spent on him? Would it have been to fix the glaring needs on the oline? I think history shows they probably wouldn't have. Management and coaches here seem to think you can fill those positions with other teams cast offs, over the hill players, and counting on finding a gem in the rough. It's just bad management and bad coaching.

The announcers or the Bengals? lol
-
i wonder if they will cut the game off here after this score and switch to a more competitive game
-
Too bad he don't have any pixie dust

I want to see Hanie in there. NO reason to risk Cutler gettin hurt.
-

I benched him because I thought McNabb was playing a bad team.
